checkUsage from codetools shows errors when function uses functions from loaded packages
Dear list members, I frequently program small scripts and wrap them into functions to be able to check them with checkUsage. In case these functions (loaded via source or copy pasted to the R console) use functions from other packages, I get this error: no visible global function definition for ?xxxxxxx? For example: test = function() { require(plotrix) color.legend() }

Best way to replace :SS with :00
Not sure if there is an R way to do this or a regular express way, but here is what I am trying to do. I've got lots of data where the format is HH:MM:SS, but I need to format it like HH:MM:00, i.e. round the second down to zero. What is the best way to do this? Thanks again. Jason

Searching for specific values in a matrix
Hello all, I have a seemingly simple question which I have searched for an answer for for a few hours without luck. I have a matrix of both values and characters with thousands of rows. I would like to run a search of this matrix for certain values and would like the search to retrieve the entire row. How would I accomplish this? Thanks! Dragon Age Origins Awakening
I have managed to install DAO:Awakening. It is working in the sense that you can get into the game and play the game but a lot of item text is missing. For example, many new items have no description and appear in my inventory as gxa_im_(code) . Also I have unlocked battlemage by buying the book, however I cannot level up as battlemage, I cannot click the specialization button, nor does any text

convert a data frame to matrix - changed column name
I have a question, which very easy to solve, but I can't find a solution. I want to convert a data frame to matrix. Here my toy example: > L3 <- c(1:3) > L10 <- c(1:6) > d <- data.frame(cbind(x=c(10,20), y=L10), fac=sample(L3, + 6, repl=TRUE)) > d x y fac 1 10 1 1 2 20 2 1 3 10 3 1 4 20 4 3 5 10 5 2 6 20 6 2 > is.data.frame(d) [1] TRUE > sapply(d,

[LLVMdev] Spilling multi-word virtual registers
Does anybody have any tips for generating spills/reloads for large non-vector registers? I'm working on a back end for a DSP architecture that has accumulator registers that are too large to be spilled or reloaded with a single instruction. All of their bits can be accessed in word-size chunks via three sub-registers (low, high, and ext). So loading or storing one requires three instructions:

Messing with the "..." argument
Hi all, Sorry if this is documented somewhere, but trying to search and google for ways to alter my "..." argument is having me chasing my tail. Is there someway that I can manipulate the elements in "..."? Specifically I'd like to use certain vars in "...", then remove them from "..." and pass the rest of "..." to another function.

[EXTERNAL] Re: NOTE: multiple local function definitions for ?fun? with different formal arguments
Here's a dummy example that I think illustrates the problem: toto <- function() { if (runif(1) < 0.5) function(a) a else function(a,b) a+b } > fcn <- toto() > fcn(1,2) [1] 3 > fcn <- toto() > fcn(1,2) [1] 3 > fcn <- toto() > fcn(1,2) Error in fcn(1, 2) : unused argument (2) How can you use the returned function, if you get different arguments?

Display Median in plot
Hi, I drew a plot with R of my data and now I would like to display the median values of each group above the respective datapoint in the plot. I already search for ages, but maybe I am just blind. I am sure that this has to be an option somewhere... I appreciate any kind of input! Best, Christian

Question about the lars package
Hello, I have a question about lars package, probably basic. The returned values of lars function include R squares along the variable selection path. However, such values are always slightly different from the R squares returned by the regression function lm using the same models. Anyone know the reasons? Very important, and needs quick answers. SVM cross validation in e1071
Hi list, Could someone help me to explain why the leave-one-out cross validation results I got from svm using the internal option "cross" are different from those I got manually? It seems using "cross" to do cross validation, the results are always better. Please see the code below. I also include lda as a comparison. I'm using WinXP, R-2.9.0, and e1071_1.5-19. Many
