[Fwd: Re: subsetting]
Sorry that I was unclear. For an individual to qualify for my analysis I want both of the following two criteria to be fulfilled: First, I want to select measurement taken at a certain age: for the focal individual the year of measurement (year) should be the same as year.hatch Second, I want the focal individual to be born by a mother that reproduces for the first time. So the /parents /of

subsetting
Dear all, I have received some data on birds that looks sth like this: # a unique id for each individual id <- c(1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3,4,4,5,6) # the year the bird was measured year <- c(1995, 1996, 1997, 1995, 1996, 1997, 1996, 1997, 1998, 1996, 1997, 1997, 1998) # the year the bird was hatched year.hatch <- c(1995, 1995, 1995, 1995, 1995, 1995, 1996, 1996, 1996, 1996, 1996, 1997, 1998)

Aggregation of data frame with calculations of proportions
Dear all, I have been stuck on this problem, am rather struggling and would appreciate some advice if anyone can help. I apologise if this is a bit long-winded, but I've tried to limit it to the bare essentials, but don't know how to make it more generic! I have some slightly odd real world data that I'm looking at representing number of positive diagnoses for different diseases,

spearman correlation and p-value as a matrix
I have two data matrices that I want to make the correlation between each column from data1 and each column from data 2 and also calculate the p-value Matrices dont have the same size and I tried such a script. > bg <- read.table (file.choose(), header=T, row.names) > bg > Otu00022 Otu00029 Otu00039 Otu00042 Otu00101 Otu00105 Otu00125 Otu00131 Otu00137 Otu00155 Otu00158 Otu00172

mean over previous cells
Dear RUsers, I guess this is an easy question for someone a little familiar with programming...(which I am not)... I've got 2 colummns, one shows just dates(SST_date, Class 'Date' num), the other one shows the SeaSurfaceTemperature (SST, num) at that certain date. SST_date SST 2008-01-01 22.2 2008-01-02 21.8 2008-01-03 22.8 2008-01-04 22.9 2008-01-05 23.1 2008-01-06 23.2 ...

Sorting Data?
Hello, Im reading through some manuals, but I cannot find my answer. I have a file containing many data: Vpn Code Family Age F1 F2 ... F17 1 1 M 46 1 2 ... 1 2 1 D 18 3 2 ... 4 3 2 M 50 3 3 ... 3 ... and so on. Now I can read it by: F = read.table("file", header=T) but now I want to seperate the mothers (M) and daugthers (D) of the family with all the data in all other fields.

Use of nesting in lmer- error in numerical expression
Dear R users, I am trying to fit a GLMM using lmer to a dataset where the brood identity (LNRREIR) is nested within mothers identity. The reason for this is that each mother can have several nests within each year and also between years. I am running the following script (actually I have tried all different combinations with LNRREIR and mother): mod <- lmer(sr~z.hatchday +

HABTM using two columns
Hi all, I was wondering whether anyone could guide me to docu and code examples how to create and use a has_and_belongs_to_many relationship with a joining table where TWO columns are used to identify the relation to TWO alternative tables. Example: table 1: mothers [mother_id, name] table 2: fathers [father_id, name] table 3: children [child_id, name] joining table 4: children_parent

vectorising ifelse()
Hi All, is there any chance of vectorising the two ifelse() statements in the following code: for(i in gp){ new[i,1] = ifelse(srow[i]>0, new[srow[i],zippo[i]], sample(1:100, 1, prob =Y1, rep = T)) new[i,2] = ifelse(drow[i]>0, new[drow[i]>0,zappo[i]], sample(1:100, 1, prob =Y1, rep = T)) } Where I am forced to check if the value of drow and srow are >0 for each line... in

loop over large dataset
Hi All, I'd like to ask for a few clarifications. I am doing some calculations over some biggish datasets. One has ~ 23000 rows, and 6 columns, the other has ~620000 rows and 6 columns. I am using these datasets to perform a simulation of of haplotype coalescence over a pedigree (the datestes themselves are pedigree information). I created a new dataset (same number of rows as the pedigree

advanced dist
Hi there. I have now found that dist() does what I want in a specific case. But I have (out of many fields) in my Fragebogen.data file: Vpn Code Family Test 1 X1 m 45 2 X1 t 58 3 X2 m 44 4 X2 t 43 ... When I now do: Fbg <- read.table("Fragebogen.data", header=TRUE) dist(Fbg['Test']) I have the distances between everyone to everyone. Now I want to have the mothers (m in

family
Hi all, I am reading a huge data set(12M rows) that contains family information, Offspring, Parent1 and Parent2 Parent1 and parent2 should be in the first column as an offspring before their offspring information. Their parent information (parent1 and parent2) should be set to zero, if unknown. Also the first column should be unique. Here is my sample data set and desired output. fam

Incomplete Trio in TDT analysis
I am involved in a study where, as in most of life, men demonstrate themselves to be recalcitrant. So while we have many probands and most of their mothers we only have about 50% of the trios being complete. I have been running tdt and trio.types. It appears as if it is ignoring the duos. Sometimes a duo can be informative. For instance Father ..missing Mother 1/2 Proband 1/1 This duo shows that

[family] path = /home/shares/family create mask = 0664 directory mask = 0775 force group = parental guest ok = No valid users = @parental, @family writeable = Yes in Group parental are mum & dad; in group family are mum, dad and offspring. How to plot 3-D surface graph from lmer mixed models?
Dear R users, I have a problem in plotting 3 dimensional graph using mixed models. My model is sur_prop ~ afr_c+I(afr_c^2)+I(afr_c^3)+byear_c+I(byear_c^2)+I(byear_c^3)+I(byear_c^4)+(1|Studyparish)+afr_c:byear_c +afr_c:I(byear_c^2)+afr_c:I(byear_c^3)+afr_c:I(byear_c^4)+I(afr_c^2):byear_c+I(afr_c^2):I(byear_c^2)+I(afr_c^2):I(byear_c^3)+I(afr_c^2):I(byear_c^4) This is a study on the effect of

Weird quirk with ingress policing
Hi, I notice that if two or more existing connections match an ingress policing filter, the input bandwidth does not get evenly divided up between the n connections. Kinda like litters of baby animals, where the stronger babies get more access to the mothers teats and grow up bigger and faster than their siblings. The only workaround that''s working for me is to set explicit ingress

betabinomial model
Hi, can anyone help me fit betabinomial model to the following dataset where each iD is a cluster in itself , if i use package aod 's betabinom model it gives an estimate of zero to phi(the correlation coeficient ) and if i fix it to the anova type estimate obtained from icc( in package aod) then it says system is exactly singular. And when i try to fit my loglikelihood by

re ferring to data of previous rows
Dear Rlers, in the following dataset I would like to insert a new column that refers to the data of the previous row. My question is whether the probability of a female (Id) changes if she had given birth to a pup in the previous year. So my dataframe consists of the column Id, year (2003-2007 for each Id) and offspring (=of; 1-0): Id year of 1 2003 1 1 2004 0 1

difference between 2 dates: IN MONTHS the way Mothers compute it
Hi R-people: I need a function to compute the number of months between 2 dates, in the same way a mother would do it. For example, if a kid is born on February 6, the number of months between that date and March 7 is exactly 1 month, although it is only 29 days. Thank you!
