Model formula for ols function (rms package)
Dear R help, I'm having some trouble with model formulas for the ols function in the rms package. I want to have two variables represented as restricted cubic splines, and also include an interaction as a product of linear terms, but I get an error message. library(rms) d <- data.frame(x1 = rnorm(50), x2 = rnorm(50), y = rnorm(50)) ols(y ~ rcs(x1,3) + rcs(x2,3) + x1*x2, data=d) Error in

Dear R users, I tried to fit a cox proportional hazard model to get estimation of stratified survival probability. my R code is as follows: cph(Surv(time.sur, status.sur)~ strat(colon[,13])+colon[,18] +colon[,20]+colon[,9], surv=TRUE) Error in if (!length(fname) || !any(fname == zname)) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed Here colon[,13] is the one that I want to stratify and the

Pasar palabras de una lista a una variable del dataframe
Muchas gracias Carlos, Me da error al hacerlo. Mi variable donde quiero que localice las palabras de la lista tiene más de una palabra, no se si puede ser por eso. Your message seems unclear, and as evidence the respondents are giving various answers. You should provide a small sample of input and output data as it would look in R to avoid this kind of thrashing about. See [1][2][3] for guidance. Note that you also really need to figure out how to make sure your email program sends plain text, because HTML formatting WILL be stripped by the mailing list

match.call() and do.call()
hi all - i have a function that needs to call glm() with a weights argument that includes a variable whose name comes from the caller. so instead of: fit <- glm(formula, poisson(), data, weights = 1-z, ...), i do something like this: fit <- do.call("glm", list(formula=formula, family=poisson(), data=data, weights = call("-", 1, as.name(zname)), ...))

lrm -interaction without main effect-error message
Dear all, this might be not only an R-question but also a statistical. When I do a logistic regression analysis (species distribution modeling) with function lrm (Design package) I get the follwoing error message: > tadl1<-lrm(triad~fd+dista+fd2+dista2+fd:dista+dista:geo2, x=T, y=T) Error in if (!length(fname) || !any(fname == zname)) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed The

ols Error : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed
I have installed Hmisc and Design. When I use ols, I get the following error message: Error in if (!length(fname) || !any(fname == zname)) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed The model that I am running is: > ecools <- ols(eco$exp ~ eco$age + eco$own + eco$inc + inc2, x=TRUE) I have tried several other combinations of arguments that take TRUE/ FALSE values, but no luck.

sum multiple csv files
Hi, I am pretty new to R and I would apreciatte very much your help to solve my problem. I have 40 csv files that have the same structure, and I want to merge them into a single data frame. I already have load and combined all the cvs files into a large list, and I created two filenames <- list.files('data',full.names=TRUE) All_data <- lapply(filenames, function(i){ ###read cvs

Thanks Simon, by cloning a smooth construct do you mean copying and modifying the smooth constructor code? Could you pleas elaborate on your answer? Which is the Predict.matrix method? 2018-01-12 3:20 GMT-06:00 Simon Wood <simon.wood at bath.edu>: > There probably is a way, but it involves some programming. ols function in rms package
Hello, I have a couple of questions about the ols function in Frank Harrell's rms package. Is there any way to specify variables by their column number in the data frame rather than by the variable name? For example, library(rms) x1 <- rnorm(100, 0, 1) x2 <- rnorm(100, 0, 1) x3 <- rnorm(100, 0, 1) y <- x2 + x3 + rnorm(100, 0, 5) d <- data.frame(x1, x2, x3, y) rm(x1, x2, x3,

error message in cox regression cph()
Hi, I have been trying to get the cph() function of the Design package to work but get an error message I don't understand: Error in if (!length(fname) || !any(fname == zname)) { : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed I have tried the same for a dummy dataset I made, and than it seems to work fine. However, it doesn't do it for my own data. Does anyone have a clue as to what

setting constraints on gam
There probably is a way, but it involves some programming. You would need to clone a smooth constructor (e.g. for the "cr" class), and then modify it to add a linear constraint matrix C to the returned smooth object. If b are the smooth coefficients then C should? be the matrix such that s(0) = Cb (you can get this from the Predict.matrix method for the class). Then the constraint

help with ols and contrast functions in Design library
Dear All, I'm trying to use the ols function in the Design library (version 2.1.1) of R to estimate parameters of a linear model, and then use the contrast function in the same library to test various contrasts. As a simple example, suppose I have three factors: feature (3 levels), group (2 levels), and patient (3 levels). Patient is coded as a non-unique identifier and is

update.formula drop interaction terms
Dear R users, How do I drop multiplication terms from a formula using update? e.g. forml=as.formula("Surv(time, status) ~ x1+x2+A*x3+A*x4+B*x5+strata(sex)") #I would like to drop all instances of variable A (the main effect and its interactions). The following: updated.forml=update(forml, ~ . -A) #gives me this: #Surv(time, status) ~ x1 + x2 + x3 + x4 + B + x5 + strata(sex) + A:x3 +

Formula for calculating interaction terms in R
Hello - I am trying to figure out R's transformation for interaction terms in a linear regression. My simple background understanding is that interaction terms are generally calculated by multiplying the centred (0-mean) variables with each other and then doing the regression. However, in this regard I would have expected to see the same p-value when I calculate summary(lm(Y~A:B)) for A:B
