Missing interaction effect in binomial GLMM with lmer
Dear all, I was wondering if anyone could help solve a problem of a missing interaction effect!! I carried out a 2 x 2 factorial experiment to see if eggs from 2 different locations (Origin = 1 or 2) had different hatching success under 2 different incubation schedules (Treat = 1 or 2). Six eggs were taken from 10 females (random = Female) at each location and split between the treatments,

Filling graphic objects
I have used polygon() to mark the confidence limits of a survival curve. In another project, I have used the col parameter to fill my boxplots. The poly() description refers to filling but actually produces hatching (i.e. lines ). boxplot() does truly fill the boxes with a colour or shades of grey (e.g. col="red"). My novices perception of R graphics is: If you can hatch it, you

Selectively shading areas under two density curves
Dear Listers, I am drawing a plot of two density curves, for male and female incomes. I would like to shade/hatch/color (whatever) the areas under the curves which are distinctive for each gender. This is the code I have tried so far: m <- density(topmal.d$y, bw = "sj") f <- density(topfem.d$y, bw = "sj") par(mfrow = c(1,1)) plot(x = c(0,400), y = c(0,0.02), type =

Model building using lmer
Dear R-experts, Quite new to R on this end, but learning fast (I hope). I am running version 2.7.1 on Windows Vista. I have small dataset which consists of: # NestID: nest indicator for each chicken. Siblings sharing the same nest have the same nest indicator. # Chick: chick indicator consisting of a unique ID for each single chick. # Year: 1, 2. # ClutchSize: 1-, 2- , 3-eggs. # HO:

Highlighting a few bars in a barplot
Hello, I have a bar plot where I am already using colour to distinguish one set of samples from another. I would also like to highlight a few of these bars as ones that should be looked at in detail. I was thinking of using hatching, but I can't work out how or if you can have a background colour and hatching which is different between bars. Any suggestions on how I should do this? Thanks

data frame manipulation - splitting monitoring interval and assigning stage
Hello, everyone. I'm hoping to prevent myself from doing a lot of pointing and clicking in Excel. I have a dataframe of bird nest check observations, in which I know the date of the first check, the date of the second check (both currently in Julian date format), the status of the nest at the second check (alive or failed), and the date that the nest hatched (i.e. changed from Incubation

GLMM using lme4
Dear R-experts, I am running R version 2.7.1 on Windows Vista. I have a small dataset which consists of ?chick ID?, ?year (0, 1)?, ?hatching order [HO, defined as first, second and third-hatched chick]?, and the binary outcome of interest ?death (0, 1)?. So a subset of my dataset looks like this on a txt file: y ID Yr HO 1 1 1 First 0 2 1 First 0 3 1 Second 0 4 1 First 1 5 1 First 0 6 1 Third

2.2.18 Regression: Incorrect STATUS response for virtual mailboxes
As shown below, adding a message to TRASH doesn't increase virtual/test's MESSAGES count. However SELECTing virtual/test triggers the increase; so does running `doveadm mailbox status vsize virtual/test` in another shell. $ mkdir -m0700 ~/mail/virtual/test $ echo -e "TRASH\n\tall" > ~/mail/virtual/test/dovecot-virtual $ /usr/lib/dovecot/imap S: * PREAUTH [CAPABILITY

Gracias Carlos !!!  ... alguna idea con la libreria lattice ? es solo que tengo que hacer 3 graficos diferentes y el aspecto de los mismos quedara diferente con lattice y ggplot. From two colors to 01 sequences
Dear All, Perhaps, what I am asking is impossible, but I am asking it anyway. I have got several pdf files with rows of colored rectangles: red rectangles should be read as 0; green rectangles as 1. No other color exists. Is there some way to have R reading the colored rectangles to a matrix or data frame converting the color of the rectangles to sequences of 01? Thanks in advance, Paul

angle/density in barplots/polygon
I'm trying to convert some S-Plus code which generates barplots and other shaded area plots to R. If I specify that I want hatching using the angle and density arguments, the messages 1: argument `density' is not used (yet) in: .NotYetUsed("density", error = FALSE) 2: argument `angle' is not used (yet) in: .NotYetUsed("angle", error = FALSE) so apparently these

IMAP session hangs on 8k-long commands if COMPRESS=DEFLATE is enabled
Hi there, Dovecot 2.3.7 appears to hang when the client sends a long command after enabling the IMAP COMPRESS extension [RFC 4978]. PoC script attached along with the doveconf(1) output. Without COMPRESS=DEFLATE, and with the default ?imap_max_line_length? value (64k) I'm able send commands up to 65539 bytes long (that's 3 bytes more than 2??, so maybe the leading tag and the trailing
