Script to convert mboxes to maildirs?
Does anybody know of a script of a simple method of
converting mbox mail stores to maildirs? I'm moving
from an old pop3 system to imap and after installing
about half our office with mboxes have found that mbox
does not support subfolders which some people like to
use.
Is there any simple way of converting? I can go to
each individual account and "manually" convert swaping
data

DOS programs unable to create files on Samba 2.2.7a
We have a few old DOS programs which, when run under Windows 2000 is a
DOS full screen session are unable to write files on our Samba server.
These programs (the "brief" editor, and the "tango" CAD package) are
able to write to local files on the Windows 2000 system. I set Samba
debug to 10 and found the following reported when Tango tried to write a

win2k client slow with samba 2.2.3.a - maybe a bug?
This sure looks like a bug but maybe a configuration error on my
part.
I am trying to migrate out current OS/2 Warp 4 based file server to
Samba. We have OS/2, Win98, WinNT4, and Win2k clients. I set Samba
2.2.3a up to use security = SHARE as this appears to be the closest
to what the OS/2 Warp4 based system supports. All clients are able to
access the files on the Samba service but loading

R vs Matlab: which is more "programmer friendly"?
Hi,
The department of economics at our university (Budapest) is planning a
course on numerical methods in economics. They are trying to decide
which software to use for that, and I would like to advocate R. The
other alternative is Matlab.
I have found comparisons in terms of computational time for matrix
algebra, but I don't think that is relevant: the bottleneck for
economists is usually

CentOS 5.2 yum repos old rpm
Hey everyone,
This is the first time I've ever used a mailing-list so bear with me :-)
I've just got a new dedicated server from Hostik and they've installed
CentOS 5.2 on the system (awesome!) and came pre-installed with PHP, MySQL,
and Apache (among other things). I noticed that PHP version is 5.1.6, the
MYSQL is 5.0.45, and Apache is 2.2.3
I ran yum to update, thinking it would

The monthly sales fig for 2002 were (2700, 2600, 3050, . . ). Using diff() find the month with greatest increase from prev month.
I created a msales var:
msales = c(2700, 2600, 3050 . . )

Backporting and Apache 2.0.52 is 4 1/2 years old
http://httpd.apache.org/security/vulnerabilities_20.html
states that Apache 2.0.52 is 4 years old and the latest version is 2.0.68.
i am no longer a httpd expert, but at least one of the security fixes
involves XSS attacks via malformed ftp commands. I also realize that
redhat / centos may patch things separately from Apache and that the
sysadmin has a great deal to do with how secure things

Which Linux flavor for a Rails server?
Hi folks,
I''m a linux noob, and I''m trying to pick a distro for my rails server. I
don''t want to start a flame-war about linux distros! I''m interested in the
best distribution for these criteria:
1 - Simplicity of getting ruby and rails set-up (gem updates)
2 - Stability (it is a server, after all)
3 - Support resources (community, and as a fall-back, paid

greatest common divisor
Hello,
Is there a function in R with which we could find the greatest common
divisor directly?
Or is there a funciton, which could help us to find the remainder of a
division directly?
Best wishes! Thank you!
Your truly, Qing

ParaGuest cannot see 30GB memory
Hi,
I have buit Xen (32 bit) with PAE and can start multiple Paraguests with 4 gig memory, but cannot launch a single VM with more than 4 gb memory. I would like to launch 1 VM with 30GB or so memory. Are there any config paramters like kernel,/inittrd that need to be changed.
I have the ramdisk set to the initrd I used to boot xen with PAE.
Thanks

Script question
Hello,
I've got the following script that I want to run every time a user logs in to the Samba server, whether it be from a mapped share or by opening a telnet session into the server and logging in that way.
Here's the script:
#!/bin/sh
DOMAIN=`echo $USER | awk -F_ '{print $1}'`
USERNAME=`echo $USER | awk -F_ '{print $2}'`
if [ $DOMAIN = "MA" ]; then
