pruning data
Hello everyone, I am trying to prune a data frame for partial least squares analysis. I need to delete an entire row if one cell in the row contains a NA. Presently, I am running a loop that is supposed to extract the rows that are full of numbers into a second data frame and skips the rows that contain a single NA value. I want to know if there is a simple way to determine if a row

Referencing data frames
Hi, How do I use the string content of a string variable to reference a data frame of the same name? I want to do the typical tasks of 1) building a name with a string variable and using the string variable to create a data frame (or any object) whose name is the string value of the variable and 2) pass on a string to a function as a parameter, and then use that string to refer to an existing

Matrix manipulation
Hello everyone, I have a couple of fairly simple questions (I hope) the answers to which I cannot find through the documentation at the moment. 1. I would like to delete the a row from a matrix if a certain elimination criterion is met. I am familiar with x <- x[-7,] (to remove row 7, for example). Are there any other means of removing an entire row? 2. Is there a single command that

Pls package
Hi, I have managed to format my data into a single datframe consisting of two AsIs response and predictor dataframes in order to supply the plsr command of the pls package for principal components analysis. When I execute the command, however, I get this error: > fiber1 <- plsr(respmat ~ predmat, ncomp=1, data=inputmat, validation="LOO") Error in model.frame.default(formula =

Placing text outside graph boundary
Hello, Is possible to place a label on a multipanel figure outside the boundaries of any single one of the existing graphs in a panel? Specifically, I have a function that creates a panel with quartz() and then fills it with 6 graphs consisting of exactly the same plot for 6 different groups. I would like to add one title for the entire figure at the top of the figure, but I cannot figure out

More basic question
I have encountered a more fundamental problem in my data set. I''m using read.csv, and all the data are imported as character. How do I do a string comparison in a line like this: M10[ !sapply(1:10, function(x)666 %in% M10[x,]), ] Alternately, how do I change the class type on a column in a data frame from character to numeric? Thank you very much. Payam [[alternative HTML version

How to handle missing values for the GeneMeta package?
Hello all, It seems that the GeneMeta passage returns NA in the respective row if any gene in the data sets to be synthesised are missing. Do you know of a way to overcome this problem? I tried using the 'impute' package to fill-in the missing values, but R crashes if 'impute' and 'GeneMeta' packages are used together. I have asked a separate question for that. Thanks

Extracting the name of an object
With apologies if I missed the answer in the response given to my previous question. How do I extract the name of an object and assign it to a string variable? For example, I have a dataframe named comnoglyc How do I assign this name to a variable dfname such that print(dfname) returns "comnoglyc"? Thank you very much. couldn't find function "print.tframe"
I have an object with an attribute "tframe" for which there is a generic method print.tframe and also a method print.tframe.default defined in a library. However, when I use attributes(object) I get the message $tframe Error: couldn't find function "print.tframe" It's as if <primitive: attributes> is not looking through the search list? Any suggestions?

R-alpha: inheritance ([.ts)
While commenting out the previously mentioned warning seems to work, I have been reflecting on this problem and there seems to be an issue wrt inheritance that I do not understand properly. Perhaps some gurus could comment. As mentioned previously, I have a class "tframe" with more specific classes indicating how time is being represented, such as > class(tframe(data)) [1]

more on "[<-"
"[<-" in R 0.63 does not appear to strip attributes, whereas Splus and previous versions of R did. problems with new checks in R-devel
Below are a few problems I have encountered with the new checks being done in R-devel. 1/ I have two generics, test.equal and test.equal.tframe. The first checks that two objects are equal while the second checks if two objects have equal tframes (time frames). There is no reason these should have similar arguments but the check seems to think that test.equal.tframe is a method for test.equal so

R-alpha: "[.ts" in 0.60.1
I have a class "tframe" with more specific classes indicating how time is being represented, such as > class(tframe(data)) [1] "ts" "tframe" but now "[.ts" produces warning messages > tframe(data)[2] Warning: Not returning a time series object [1] 2006.25 Even my simplest tests produce hundreds of lines of warnings, so I've commented out

number of pairwise present data in matrix with missings
is there a smart way of determining the number of pairwise present data in a data matrix with missings (maybe as a by-product of some statistical function?) so far, i used several loops like: for (column1 in 1:99) { for (column2 in 2:100) { for (row in 1:500) { if (!is.na(matrix[row,column1]) & !is.na(matrix[row,column2])) { pairs[col1,col2] <- pairs[col1,col2]+1

tframe question - latest.start
I'm having some trouble figuring out latest.start in the tframe package. The results seem a bit cloudy. Sample session: > library(ts) > library(tframe) Loading required package: syskern > t1<-ts(c(1,2,3,4,5),start=1) > t2<-ts(c(1,2,3,4,5),start=2) > earliest.start(tbind(t1,t2)) [1] 1 1 > earliest.start(tbind(t2,t1)) [1] 1 1 > latest.start(tbind(t2,t1)) [1] 1 1

R Shiny Help - Trouble passing user input columns to emmeans after ANOVA analysis
Hello everybody, I have experience coding with R, but am brand new to R Shiny. I am trying to produce an application that will allow users to upload their own dataset, select columns they want an ANOVA analysis run on, and generate graphs that will allow users to view their results. However, I am getting the following error: *"Argument is of length zero."* Being new to Shiny, I am
