Running stats on individual data.frames from the split() function list
Hello, and thanks in advance. I have a data.frame from which I want to count observations that occur on each day and determine the mean and std.error of said counts. For instance: x<-split(my.df, my.df$julian.days) Although I'm still in my R learning infancy I am under the impression that x is a list of data.frames subsetting my.df by group (i.e.,julian.day) where day 1:366 are

ordering dataframe for strata() (PR#13830)
I've been using strata(sampling) and found that if the dataframe to be sampled ("data") consists of repeated measures that are not sorted in order the run will fail on a given stratum. Ordering the dataframe prior to using strata() eliminates this problem. Thanks, Eric -- Eric Vander Wal Ph.D. Candidate University of Saskatchewan, Department of Biology, 112 Science Place,

Sampling a dataframe based on the length of a subset of observations within
Thank you in advance for your consideration. I have a dataframe of 2000+ observations with repeated measures across approximately 300 unique individuals An event either does or does not happen (1,0) and there is a suit of independent variables associated with the event. A simplified representation follows:

Turn on SIP debugging from DialPlan
The SIP trace will be adequate but this is on a remote system with limited disk space. I would love to turn on debugging while making the troublesome calls, then turn it off afterward. Tcpdump is great, but starting it and stopping it and keeping all that data would still be an issue. d On Fri, Feb 17, 2017 at 4:56 PM, Tim Pozar <pozar at lns.com> wrote: > Why not capture the packets

Turn on SIP debugging from DialPlan
I have some troublesome numbers that I would like to capture the SIP dialogue when I am calling them. When I am about to dial the number, is there any way to turn on SIP debugging in the dial plan before I make the call? (and turn it off after the call is completed?) -------------- next part -------------- An HTML attachment was scrubbed... URL:

win clients and sftp
I'm having trouble with users transferring files to a solaris box running ossh v2.3.1p1 via sftp using ssh.com's windows client. The sftp client appears not to respect the users umask, creating files with either mode 666 or 600. We're using version 2.4.0 of the windows client. Any ideas? thanks, -Brett ----------------- Brett Longworth Systems Manager Department of Biology

Hardware for PBX with 4 incoming/outgoing lines and 20 phones
Hi I am interested in setting up an Asterisk PBX in my office with digium hardware, and I just have a few questions in regards to what I would need. It is my understanding that an FXO card is used to interface with an incoming/outgoing phone line, and an FXS card is used for interfacing with a phone within the system. Currently we have 4 incoming/outgoing phone lines and would like to have

Running "all possible subsets" of a GLM (binomial) model
I have spent a fair amount of time looking for a package that is automated to run glm (binomial) regression models with all possible subsets of my independent variables. Something akin to Lumley's "leaps" package, but can be applied to glms, not just lms; or something similar to Stata's brute force "tryem" function? If anyone can point me in the right direction I

speex affected by vulnerability described in [oCERT 2008-02]
Hi folks, we've tried contacting Jean-Marc Valin but email address bounces. We published yesterday an advisory about libfishsound, you can find it at the following URL: http://www.ocert.org/advisories/ocert-2008-2.html The issues seems to affect Speex (since the code is the same) versions <= 1.1.12. While the 1.2beta branch is not vulnerable we advise that you fix with a security release

Please help with loop, thanks
Dear R helpers, I would like to write a loop that makes 4 objects (called A, B, C, and D) each of which contains ten random numbers. This attempt: individuals<-c("A","B","C","D") for(i in 1:length(individuals)) { individuals[i]<-rnorm(10) } does not work because "individuals[i]" is not the proper way to extract each letter from the

Fudging domain support - samba 2.2.0
Hi; There is likely a supported way around this problem, but it wasn't immediately apparent to me. So, I created the enclosed patch to fix my problem. What I would like to do is the following: - run samba in "security = domain" - not use trusted domains, but allow people to connect from other domains - not maintain a local encrypted password file for samba, but instead use our

FreeBSD-SA-04:13.linux in the wild
Has anyone else seen this in the wild? We just had an attempted attack yesterday from a live attacker on one of our machines using this vulnerability. It wasn't all that clever, and they're long gone, but I *did* manage to catch them in the act and grab a copy of the binary they tried to run from /tmp/, as well as the PHP injection code they used to subvert a virtual web site's

Make my plots bigger and reduce white space around panels?
Hi, I have made a plot with panels (attached) using R code (below) and I'd like to increase the size of each panel and decrease the white space, especially the white space between: 1. rows of panels 2. the top panel and its title (which contains info on r2 and N) 3. each panel and its x label. I've dug around in the plot help files but can't seem to find how to do this. Any help

Samba and MC/Service Guard
Samba friends, I work in Wal-Mart's IT department, specifically with Unix Servers of various flavors, but HP-UX is predominant in our Home Office environment. I recently built an two node HA cluster on HP 11.11 boxes. I want to be able to have Samba use the virtual name of my cluster. Currently Samba is configured to use the hardcoded box name, however if the box happens to go down, we

generating new data with for loop
I'm new at R ... I've not done for loops in R - so this is very new to me. One of our students has a data frame that contains two columns data 1. unixtime time of an event (in unix time - #of seconds) 2. duration of event in seconds. We need to create new data - the unixtime (seconds) that these events occurred. We want to create a for loop (or nested for loops) that goes through the
