help with model relationship for Product/Bill of Materials
I am struggling to find the best way to set up relationships to
achieve this so that it fits the rails idioms.
I have a table of products and I want to be able to create a bill of
materials for a product..
So a product can either be a single item, or a package consisting of
several other products.
I have created a table:

Relationships... not the personal kind!
Hello all,
I''m very new to Rails and I love it so far. However, there are some
things that aren''t so clear to me.
Let''s say a blog post can have many comments, and a comment can only
belong to one post. A user can have many posts and many comments as
well. (this part makes perfect sense):
class Comment < ActiveRecord::Base
belongs_to :posting
belongs_to :user

Running 'rsync' as root misses files
Wayne,
Hello, I saw a post of yours out on samba.org and was wondering if
you might be able to shed a little light on a problem I'm having with
rsync. My rsync source files are all off of nfs mounts and the
destination directories are all nfs mounts. The owner and groups all end
up as nobody/nobody on the destination, despite being all sorts of
owners and groups on the source. Have you

blank plot----how do I make symbols appear
Hi,
I am trying to create a scatterplot, coding each point to one of 5
populations. I was successful when I did this for one set of data, yet
when I try plotting other data a blank plot appears (although the axes are
labelled and I can fit the regression lines from each population). I have
tried a variety of things to fix this but nothing seems to work.
I can plot the points if I do not

[Flac-users] Grip, FLAC, and album replay gain
OK, here's a problem:
I want to set the album replay gain in each track, but I'm using grip to
rip and encode the tracks one by one. grip knows that all the tracks are
on a single album, but FLAC sees them one at a time. I put the
--replay-gain
option on the FLAC command line, so it emits four comments into the
vorbis commebnt block, e.g.:
comment[9]:

[Flac-users] Using Grip with FLAC
I looked around on the web, but I found no guidance on this subject, so
I'm guessing. Here is what I came up with. It appears to work on a
limited sample of CDs. Can anyone comment on whether or not this
is OK?
My system is Mandrake 9.0. My Grip is 3.0.1 (as supplied with
Mandrake 9.0)
My flac is 1.1.0, built from the source tarball. Mandrake ships
with 1.0.3, which does not appear to have

Bugfix patch for vorbize, compat patch for grip
Hey.
Last night I hacked grip so that it'd allow me to use vorbize and comments with
grip. It's very ugly because grip'd need a bit of rearrangement in order to
facilitate the way the vorbis comments work (that is, the comments are not added
in after the encoded file has been written). Any one who wants to use it should
patch grip-2.94 (http://www.nostatic.org/grip), and make sure you

HOWTO: Use grip as a great oggenc frontend.
I've seen a lot of people in many forums asking for vorbis frontends for
Linux.
A little bit ago, I switched my roomate over from encoding to mp3 to
encoding to vorbis. To make the transition as painless as possible I
wanted to let her continue using GRIP as her encoder frontend. To actually
accomplish this project, I realized that if any real work was required on
my part it would never be

How to get asterisk to playback personal greetings using grandstream gxp-2000
All:
I am using the standard voicemail in asterisk. Everything works well,
except, if a users wants to record their own personal greeting, it
doesn't playback.
I can see the soundfile being created. I suspect it is a setting in the
voicemail.conf, or an option I am over-looking on the grandstream, but
if anyone can point me in the write direction, I would certainly
appreciate the help.

Which MTA for a personal-use dovecot instance?
I'm planning to deploy a personal dovecot IMAP server (i.e. I am the
only user) in a FreeBSD jail.
At present, I have IMAP deployed on the same host as one of my mail
servers, which is running Postfix. I do like Postfix, but it seems to be
a bit overkill for this particular situation.
All my incoming MX are provided by Google. They handle the incoming mail
and forward to my private MX,

[fdo] Create a freedesktop directory my own personal way
Let's say I'd like to create a directory for urgent stuff I need to deal
with. I'd put this line on ~/.config/user-dirs.dirs:
XDGURGENTDIR=?\$HOME/Urgent?
Right?
But now, how do I assign a custom icon to it?
I know I can just change the icon for any folder or file under
properties, but that's not what I want! I'd like to do it "the right way".

Personal Composer
I have installed Personal Composer 2 in Wine 1.0.1 (Windows XP) under Ubuntu Linux 9.04. The Program seems to run OK, and I can enter notes into a musical sheet, but when I try to play the music there is no Sound!
If I look in the Wine Audio Properties, the ALSA Driver is checked, and I have 'Wine midi driver' and 'Midi Through' under MIDI In/Out Devices; pressing the Test Sound

Wiki - consensus about personal pages?
Hi guys,
I'd like to know if there is a consensus about linking to personal websites on the personal wiki page every new user gets in the wiki.
I maintain several games in the AppDB and created a wiki page recently describing some tricks for AppDB maintainers.
I also created a personal wiki page, describing what I am doing on wine, what my email address is and where one can found my blog.

Personal Meetme conferences; is there a better way to do this?
I want to have a "personal meetme conference", so when
on a call I can transfer the other party to my personal conference with "#7".
(I can then make other calls, and dump them into the conference
using "#7" as well, then join myself by dialing "7").
Using:
exten => 7,1,MeetMe(${CALLERIDNUM}|Mpd)
this works as long as I originate the call. However,
