Graphics device history recording problem (Previous and Next utilities)
I use 1.7.0 version under Windows XP. Problem: When graphics device history recording function turned on, suppose I source a file containing lines: plot(graph1) plot(graph2) I see the graph2 in the graphic device, assuming graph2 is the last plot in the file. Now using "Previous" under history menu, I get graph1 as expected. But after that, using "Next" does not show graph2.

a fix for rotated PDF graphs
Hi, I have found references for the following problem in the list archives, but no nice solution. So I decided to post one I came up with. The problem is that graphs output as eps files, for example using ps.options(onefile=FALSE, paper="special", width=8, height=8, horizontal=FALSE, pointsize=12) get rotated when I convert them to pdf using epstopdf. Both ghostview and

knitr without R studio
Hello folks, I`m using knitr on R studio, which make it easy to use, but a coworker of mine would like to run it on "simple" R. So I was wondering if you know what is the equivalent of the button "knit HTML" in RStudio in R. I tried knit2HTML( <html> <head> <title></title> </head> <body style="background-color:white">

qplot and for loops
I have 4 columns and 56 rows of made up data that I want to plot as a series of bar graphs. The idea is to create one bar graph for each of the 4 columns using a for loop. I tried the following command in RStudio and when I type x in the console I get just the 4th graph instead of all four graphs. I did not define what x is before hand. I was not sure what it would be. Any suggestions on how you

Clogit or LRM?
Hello I believe that I'm getting very close in my modeling application. I've come across a challenge that I am unable to solve and would really appreciate the group's opinion. I've been using the val.prob function from the Design library (Thanks Frank!!) to both evaluate and visualize my model. From the scores and graph, it appears as my model is very accurate in

Plotting lines to sets of points
I am using R to plot baseball spray charts from play-by-play data. I have used the following command to plot the diamond: plot (0:250, -250:0, type="n", bg="white") lines(c(125,150,125,100,125),c(-210,-180,-150,-180,-210), col=c("black")) I have also plotted different hit locations using commands such as the following: points(subset(framename$hit_x,

Concatenate xyplots
Dear R-community, I created 5 different xyplots and graphed all of them with the print command on one page (e.g. print(graph1, split=c(1,1,1,5), more = T) ... print(graph5, split=c(1,5,1,5), more =T) Using the above commands separates each graph by a white space. However, since the graphs do share the same x-axis, I was wondering if there is a way to concatenate graph1 through 5 so

R Graphics: Saving PDF and other formats from Windows Graphic Device for LaTeX
Hello, I can't seem to save (or find the default location) when I use the Window Graphic Device's pull down menu. It does not seem to save to the directory I have set using "setwd(...)". How do I make the pull down menu's work? What is the best format to save R graphics for inclusion into a LaTeX documents? I will use PdfTex, or LaTeX -> PS -> PsToPdf to generate the

wrapping lattice xyplot
This is an expanded version of the question I tried to ask last night - I thought I had it this morning, but it's still not working and I just do not understand what is going wrong. What I am trying to do is write a wrapper for lattice xyplot() that passes a whole bunch of its secondary arguments, so that I can produce similarly formatted graphs for several different data sets. This is what

orientation of eps files
hello, i have a problem with the orientation of eps files produced with the postscript() command. i have generated some eps files with R using: postscript(file = filename, horizontal = FALSE, paper = "special", onefile = F ALSE, height = height, width = width, pointsize = pointsize) now, when i include these eps files into a standard paper document (ie. a4 paper, portrait orientation)

par(mfror=c(1,2))
dear list, i have a problem using the par function. in one graphic device i want to have two plots so i tried to use par(mfror=c(1,2)). of course it worked out, but the height now is twice the length of the width for each single plot. what i actually wanted is something like par(mfrow=c(2,2)) where only the top (or bottom) two plots are drawn with entire length proportions of 1 to 2 ( height 1,

Saving plot to tiff, with high resolution for publication ?
Hello all. A Journal we are sending an article to is asking for the following: To ensure the best reproduction quality of your figures we would appreciate high resolution files. All figures should preferably be in TIFF or EPS format... and should have the following resolution: Graph: 800 - 1200 DPI Photo: 400 - 800 DPI Color (only CMYK): 300 - 400 DPI (DPI = dots per inch) Since I am sending

influence measures for multivariate linear models
Barrett & Ling, JASA, 1992, v.87(417), pp184-191 define general classes of influence measures for multivariate regression models, including analogs of Cook's D, Andrews & Pregibon COVRATIO, etc. As in univariate response models, these are based on leverage and residuals based on omitting one (or more) observations at a time and refitting, although, in the univariate case, the

saving graphics in jpeg format
Dear R users, I need to save a graph in jpeg format. After plotting the graph, when the graphics window is active, in the File menu, the Save as / Jpeg / 100% quality correctly saves the graph in jpeg format. But I would like to know, how could I control the resolution (in dpi) of the saved jpeg file? I need to produce a jpeg at 1200 dpi. I have tried also the jpeg function in the package

how to reduce stress value in isoMDS?
I apply isoMDS to my data, but the result turns out to be bad as the stress value stays around 31! Yeah, 31 ,not 3.1... I don't know if I ignore something before recall isoMDS. My code as follow: m <- read.table("e:/tsdata.txt",header=T,sep=",") article_number <- ts(m, start = 2004,end=2008, frequency = 1 ,names=colnames(m))
