Help ::Not able to Connect R to SQL Server 2000
Hi Simon, I am using the R 2.9.1 with Window XP. I have one query related with R to the database. I have successfully connected R to MS-Access. But when I tried to connect R to SQL Server 2000 then it throwing some class not found error. RJDBC doesn't load Oracle driver?
After installing RJDBC on RedHat Linux and using it successfully with mySQL JDBC driver i am trying to use it with Oracle database. I use the JDBC driver that works fine elsewhere (use it in DBVizualizer). However, when i try to load the driver, drv<-JDBC("oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver", "/home/az05625/DBdrivers/ojdbc6.jar", identifier.quote="`") it gives me

RJDBC and multiple classpaths
Corect me if this is not the right place to post this. I have a mdbdriver.jar (to access an MSAccess file) under Linux. I bought the license from http://www.csv-jdbc.com/ guys. The driver work fine when tested with DBVisualizer or another JDBC thing. The problem is that driver needs 3 other more jar files to work. Under R I have tried this and does not work: > library(RJDBC) Loading required

RJDBC cant find driver class in JDBC jar file
I would like to set up a Windows XP environment with R and MySQL. This set-up was recommended by a friend who uses this set up, but I have been unable to get RJDBC to work. I have installed all of the software today (June 2 2008), first deleting and then replacing old versions of software. The error is as follows: Error in .jfindClass(as.character(driverClass)[1]) : class not found This error

summing and combining rows
Hello, I have a data set that needs to be combined so that rows are summed by a group based on a certain variable. I'm pretty sure rowsum() or rowsums() can do this but it's difficult for me to figure out how it will work for my data based on the examples I've read. My data are structured like this: Plot SizeClass Stems 12 Class3 1 12 Class4

Can pgmm in the plm package include additional endogenous variables?
Dear R-Users, I am using pgmm in the plm package to estimate a dynamic models with panel data. Besides the lagged dependent variable, I also have some other endogenous variables. Does the pgmm have an argument that allows me to specify these endogenous variables and their instruments? I didn't find this argument in the description and online. Thank you very much for your help!

endogenous variables in gam (mgcv)
Hello, I have a question. Suppose that I have a function to estimate with gam (in the mgcv package), y=s(x1)+s(x2)+XB where X is a vector of exogenous variables and x1 and x2 are explanatory variables assumed parametric linear functions of X and other exogenous variables Z. Is there a way to evaluate this equation with gam, allowing for endogeneity? If not, is there another

appropriate covariance matrix for multiple nominal exogenous and multiple continuous endogenous variables in SEM
Hi, I would like to use the sem package to perform a path analysis (no latent variables) with a mixture of 2 nominal exogenous, 1 continuous exogenous, and 4 continuous endogenous variables. I seek advice as to how to calculate the appropriate covariance matrix for use with the sem package. I have read through the polycor package, and am confused as to the use of "numeric" for

Endogenous variables in ordinal logistic (or probit) regression
A student brought this question to me and I can't find any articles or examples that are directly on point. Suppose there are 2 ordinal logistic regression models, and one wants to set them into a simultaneous equation framework. Y1 might be a 4 category scale about how much the respondent likes the American Flag and Y2 might be how much the respondent likes the Republican Party in America.

I am desperate for help. I am trying to get the RJDBC and rJava .5to work on both my windows xp and linux Redhat EL5 Server. On both I get a ava.lang.ClassNotFoundException when calling JDBC(). My example is require(RJDBC) classPath='C:\\libraries\\mysql-connector-java-5.1.3-rc\\mysql-connector-java-5.1.3-rc-bin.jar' driverClass=c("com.mysql.jdbc.Driver") drv <-

I use as.factor function to make some variable with level between 1 and 5. When i put it in the cox model i have only the level between 2 and 5. The level 1 doesn't appear. I think i have to change the number of level but i

ggplot2 - facetting
Dear All, After having overcome the issue of legends (thanks, Thierry, once more), I am trying to use facetting, but here also I can not find how to do this. I do not want to use qplot, but rather the more flexible options. However, it seems I am doing still something pretty stupid, because I always get an error, even if it seems I am doing everything like the examples. My code is below.

Bad Bad Performance; Max 20 Calls on Quad Proc?
Here is the setup: Dell 6250, Quad Proc P3 500Mhz. Digium Single Span T1 card. System has 71 sip peers/users. All calls are G729; we have 10 licenses. All calls follow this path: UA -> Asterisk -> Digium PRI -> Class4/5 switch. The switch dictates if it should go out local PRI for local termination or out PRI to our Cisco AS5300 for LD termination. Our biggest problem is echo.

Anyone got a dialplan for SPA ATAs for ISN?
After John Todd's talk at Astricon about the ISN project, I spent much of the weekend playing around with it. I have discovered that the default dialplans on my Sipura gear, as well as my Grandstream phones, intercept the "*" key that is a required part of ISN numbers and interpret it as a "metacharacter." Googling for a while has turned up evidence that this can be

No subject

What I've been doing is using a series of which's to create new data sets (e.g.

R extracting regression coefficients from multiple regressions using lapply command
Hi, I have a question about running multiple in regressions in R and then storing the coefficients. I have a large dataset with several variables, one of which is a state variable, coded 1-50 for each state. I'd like to run a regression of 28 select variables on the remaining 27 variables of the dataset (there are 55 variables total), and specific for each state, ie run a regression of

exact goodness-of-fit test
