graphs superimposed on pictures?
Hi: I am doing some work that involves plotting points of interest superimposed on photographs and maps. I can produce the plots fine in R, but so far I have had to do the superimposition externally, which makes it tedious to do exploratory work. I have looked to see if there is some capability to put a background picture on a plot window, but I have not found anything. Advice, anyone? Cheers

Interpretation of EXACT Statistical Test in finding the probability as Std. Deviations (SumP)
Okay, so I'm fairly retarded, and asked a question about finding the T-Value in the Fisher Exact method. I suppose what I'm truly after can best be explained by the Biddle Consulting site that has a program setup to deal with this kind of thing. Unfortunately, it is not currently functioning, and has not been for some time. As a result, I'm trying to figure out how to do this on my

reading jpeg images?
Can someone advise me what the most sensible way is to read jpeg images? For our work with image analysis and eye-tracking we have been using the rimage package, on both Macs and Windows PCs. But while setting up a new Windows machine yesterday, I see that rimage is regarded as orphaned, and no Windows binary is available. I eventually found an old zip file for the package, so I

Traffic Shaping
Dear List, I am wanting to perform some traffic shaping as the subject of this email suggests. What I am wanting to do is this; I would like to have traffic shaping performed on the following protocols: HTTP, RDP, GRE, PPTP, SIP and IAX. Obviously I would like to have highest priority set for voice packets so much so that the general http traffic does not impede on the voice packets. I

Using Hiera with Parameters set for the Puppet Node
Is it possible to have Hiera look at a key set for the node first, before looking at other items in the hierarchy? In particular - I''m using Puppet Dashboard and am setting keys & params for there, so I would like for any value set there for a node to be used over another item in the hiera hierachy. What value would I have to specify in the hierarchy for this, if it is possible?

sprintf error: "only 100 arguments allowed"
I'm trying to apply a function defined in the VW R docs, that attemps to convert a data.table object to Vowpal Wabbit format. In the process i'm getting the error in printf mentioned in the subject. The original function is here: https://github.com/JohnLangford/vowpal_wabbit/blob/master/R/dt2vw.R Below there is a small example that reproduces the error. The function works great with

Java versions in CentOS
Hi All, Following the latest security updates from Oracle, the version of OpenJDK package is currently listed as: java-1.7.0-openjdk-1.7.0.51-2.4.4.1.el6_5.x86_64.rpm The Redhat security advisory lists these packages: https://rhn.redhat.com/errata/RHSA-2014-0026.html but it makes no reference to the build number, which it turns out is important. The build on the package in centos 6.5 is

OT: Journal of Statistical Software
Dear list, yesterday I tried to find the www-site of the Journal of Statistical Software via Google. I was linked to www.jstatsoft.org directly as well as via several other sites, but netscape told me in all cases that www.jstatsoft.org does not exist. Does anybody know what is going on? New website? Wrong address? Best, Christian --

sprintf error: "only 100 arguments allowed"
Wouldn't it make sense to have this in the man page? The 8192-byte limitation for 'fmt' is mentioned but not this one. Thanks, H. j and jcross queries
Hi: I have a query related to the J and Jcross functions in the SpatStat package. I use J to finding indications of clustering in my data, and Jcross to look for dependence between point patterns. I use the envelope function to do Monte Carlo tests to look for significance. So far so good. My question is how I can test to see if tests are significantly different. For example, if find J of

T.38 on a MAX/Lucent/Ascend TNT
Hello folks, I've been trying to get T.38 over SIP working with calls terminated by a MAX/Lucent/Ascent TNT. As far as I can tell, SIP and T.38 are actually working perfectly; however, I can't get the TNT to properly terminate a FAX call. Does anyone have a working configuration for SIP and T.38 for calls from a TNT or APX? Here's a brief description/diagram of my test setup:
