cannot see the y-labels (getting cut-off)
Hi All,
When I run the following code, I cannot see the entire number. As opposed
to seeing 1,000,000,000. I only see 000,000 because the rest is cut off.
The cex option doesn't seem to be doing anything at all.
y<-seq(1e09,5e09,1e09);
plot(1:5,y,ylab='',yaxt='n' );
axis(2, at=y, labels=formatC(y,big.mark=",",format="fg"),las=2,cex=0.1);
Any thoughts?

How to wrap or split labels on plot
Dear R gurus,
I want to wrap labels that are too long for a plot. I have looked at
strsplit(), substr(), nchar(), and strwrap(). I think it's some
combination but I'm having difficulty trying to figure out the right
combo. I think I need to create some new matrix containing the labels
already split, though I'm not sure if maybe there is a quick and dirty
way to address this

how to change or copy to another the names of models
Hi
I would like to know how I can change the name of a model for each
trainning cycle of a model.
I work with the RSNNS package and to build a neural network, I used :
for (i in 5:30) ....
model_ANN <- mlp(X, Y, size=n,....) # where size is the number of neurons
in the hidden layer
but I need to save each time that the model that is build (the end of each
cycle), e.g., when i = 5, I need to

Why doesn't formatC( x, digits=2, format="g") doesn't always give 2 sig figs?
Hi all
I am not a C programmer, but I am trying to understand formatC to
get consistent printing of reals to a given number of significant
digits.
Can someone please explain this to me? These first three give what
I expect on reading ?formatC:
> formatC(0.0059999, digits=2,format="fg",flag="#")
[1] "0.0060"
> formatC(0.59999,

Bug/Error in formatC? (Was: Why doesn't formatC( x, digits=2, format= "g")...)
Hi all
After posting what follows, Duncan Murdoch suggested perhaps a bug
in formatC, or an error on documentation. Any comments?
In particular, bug, error or not, any ideas about how I can
consistently get two significant figures to print?

Bug or new concept in formatC?
As a sequel to my previous mail on cut, formatC does not produce
what I have been taught is significant digits:
> x <- c(1.0793,1.0796, 11.0954, 11.0736 )
> formatC(x,digits=3,format="g")
[1] "1.08" "1.08" "11.1" "11.1"
(3,3,3,3) significant digits OK
> formatC(x,digits=3,format="f")

[RFE] Multiple ssh-agent support
Howdy!
I've been working on a prototype that allows to do ssh-agent forward
between a guest, using SPICE, and a spice client
(remote-viewer/virt-viewer/spicy)
The whole idea is to have something similar to "ssh -A guest", but
integrated with the desktop environment.
As a proof of concept I wrote a standalone ssh-agent that _unlink_ the
current running agent in the guest machine and

Sweave xtable
Hola

Possible bug in formatC
I do not know if this is a bug or a case of improper documentation. The
documentation for formatC() implies that the difference between the options
format="f" and format="g" is that with "g", scientific format is sometimes
used. There is another difference between them that is not mentioned in the
documentation. drop0trailing=FALSE is ignored when format is set to

I'm sure I'm missing something with formatC() or sprintf()
I have a four-digit string I want to convert to five digits. Take the
following frame:

60321
22030

I need row 1 to read '02108'. This forum directed me to formatC previously
(thanks!) That usually works but, for some reason, it's not in this
instance. Neither of the syntaxes below change '2108' to '02108.' The values

Floating point maths in R
Hi,
I am not sure if this is just me using R (R-2.3.1 and R-2.4.0) in the
wrong way or if there is a more serious bug. I was having problems
getting some calculations to add up so I ran the following tests:
> (2.34567 - 2.00000) == 0.34567 <------- should be true
[1] FALSE
> (2.23-2.00) == 0.23 <------- should be true

add leading 0s to %d from png() {was Automatic creation of file names}
Dear useRs,
Is there a way to 'properly' format %d when plotting more than one
page on png()? 'Properly' means to me with leading 0s, so that the
PNGs become easy to navigate in a file/image browser. Lacking a better
solution I ended up using the code below, but would much prefer
something like
png("test_%d.png",bg="white",width=1000,height=700)
where %d

Commas in formatC
formatC() is great for formatting numbers! But it would be even better if it
could optionally insert commas (or semicolons), e.g.
R> formatC(1234567.89, digits=2, format="f", commas=T)
[1] "1,234,567.89"
Here's a snippet of code that does that, which could more or less just be
inserted into at the end of formatC if any R-core guru were so inclined. "r"

Format integer
Hi,
What's one way to convert an integer to a string with preceding 0's?
such that
'13' becomes '00000000013'
to be put into a string
I've tried formatC, but they removes all the zeros and replace it with
blanks
Thanks
