Webrick is being stupid...no info on a brand new project
I created a project, made a migration, generated scaffolding...start up webrick and I get nothing. To simplify things, I just started another project and generated a controller, still getting nothing. The index page loads fine, but nothing beyond that. If I go to anything that should give me a 404, the page is just blank. The Webrick console just says a 500 (nothing explaining why), and

(BUG in svn/trunk?) - superclass mismatch for any subclass of ApplicationController
I track svn/trunk of Rails using svn:externals Some change to Rails committed in the last 1-2 days broke my subclass of ApplicationController The example, below, works with Rails 1.0, but in today''s svn, it dies with the following error: "superclass mismatch for class FooController" class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base end class FooController <

Using idmap_rid backend, cannot browse home directory from XP
Samba version is 3.0.10 on Gentoo linux. I am trying to use idmap_rid backend in a Windows AD environment, the Linux PC acting only as a domain member. I am using idmap_rid because I need UID/GID predictability. I can log in to console correctly, and it shows the right user and the "Domain Users" as the group. When I use default winbind TDB, I can browse the home directory from an XP

reloading include-modules inside controller not working
Hi guys, I would expect an ActionController-derived class to reload _completely_ in development mode. class FooController < ApplicationController include FancyStuffSupport def index # bla end # more actions here end However, the ''FancyStuffSupport'' is not reloaded, only the ''FooController'' itself. Can this behaviour be changed? I feel back

Question about voip.ms service.
Hey; I figured I would ask here as I seem to get better results. I am using the voip.ms <http://voip.ms/> VoIP service. I have no problem configuring my Asterisk server 1.8x to dial out with my Softphone. HOWEVER, for some reason, I cannot get inbound. All that I hear is a busy signal. I know this is not much for you folks to go on, but what would be a good place to start

access model from controller
Hello, Rather new to RoR, so I''m not sure about the terminology and such :-/ . My question is: how could I know the model which is associated to a controller? For example: - controller class is TestController, which is a subclass of ApplicationController - associated model class is Test How could I write some code in a method of ApplicationController to dermine the current

ActionController <-> ActiveView code access ambiguity
Hi All! This is not a problem in general but i''ve just missed the point. If my application has a global state, which i have to use both throughout ActionController and ActiveView, then, where to place that state? E.g. if I do this: class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base protected def authenticated? !user.nil? end end then I can''t use that from any

Spec''ing controller macros
Hi, (This is my first post after months of appreciative lurking...) I''m trying to spec the following conditional controller macro: class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base # turn off session management for robots session :off, :if => lambda {|req| req.user_agent =~ /(Google|Slurp)/i } # ... end My current attempt seems to be quite unsuccessful: 1) when I

Setting a global before_filter action in application.rb
Can you set a global before_filter action in application.rb? So, for example, you could control authentication for all of the controllers in an app.? Obviously, you would need a way to reference actions by controller within this "global before-filter". Thanks, Wes -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

reusable specs - almost there
I have a lot of controllers with virtually identical functionality for most actions. I''ve been using shared behaviours to DRY things up a bit, but I still have to create separate behaviours for each context before I can use the shared behaviours what I have now is a generic file which contains all the behaviours and examples common to all the controllers, and that file gets loaded from

Stop users accessing methods.
Hello all. Is there a way to stop users from being able to access a controllers methods without affecting the ability of other controllers to use them? i.e FooController def secret #Stuff end end BarController def index redirect_to :controller => ''foo'', action => ''secret'', :id => ''007'' end end But directly

Modules Beta Comments
I''m not sure but I think this is due to the ''modules'' support in the latest beta gems. In some controllers I include small utility classes that only make sense for that controller. Something like this: class SantasLittleHelper < Foo end class FooController < ApplicationController end Where Foo is defined in RAILS_ROOT/lib/foo.rb What I am seeing now

flash, before_filter and redirect_to
I leave a notice in the flash and do a redirect from a before_filter. Can someone confirm that the first request after this, i.e. the page I redirect to, doesn''t/isn''t supposed to clear the flash? -- View this message in context: http://www.nabble.com/flash%2C-before_filter-and-redirect_to-t1367103.html#a3665933 Sent from the RubyOnRails Users forum at Nabble.com.

Payflow Pro (was Re: FatWreck.com - New Rails Site)
Several years ago, before PHP introduced their built-in pfpro functions, I rolled my own crappy interface, which of course delegated to the commandline payflow client. I could certainly do the same in Ruby today. Thinking back on it, I realized at the time, and realize again now, that delegating this functionality to a commandline app is a security risk unless you''re the *only* user on
