Linear regression - several response variables vs few ind variables
Hi all,
I need to run several simple linear regressions at once, using the
following data. Response variables: Bird species (sp 1, sp2, sp3...spn).
Independent variable: Natprop - proportion of natural area. covarate:
Effort = hours). One single linear regression would be: lmSp1 <- lm(sp1~
natprop + effort). However, I need to run this linear regression for all
bird species that I have

ivreg and structural change
Hello,
I am looking for some help with this question: how could I test structural
breaks in a instrumental variables´s model?
For example, I was trying to do something with my model with three time
series.
tax_ivreg <- ivreg(l_y ~ l_x2 + l_x1+ dl_y | lag(l_x2, -1)+lag(l_x2, -2)+
lag(l_x1, -1)+lag(l_x1, -2)+lag(l_y, -1)+lag(l_y, -2), data=tax1)
summary(tax_ivreg)

How to replace outliers by group median?
Dear R-helpers,
Very small amount of outliers can greatly affect the mean and many other
statistic of a numeric variable. So, usually we must deal with the outliers
properly in the process of data analysis. Here, I want to replace outliers
with the group median of the variable. But, I can not construct a good way
to do that efficiently, because of I am a newbie to R and programming.
Can anybody

Frecuencia absoluta acumulada por individuo y por año
Hola,

questions about "Cusum"
Dear friends:
I have just read an article entitled " Monitoring of nosocomial invasive aspergillosis and early evidence of an outbreak using cumulative sum tests (CUSUM)", which is published in "Clinical Microbiology and Infection". We have great need to estimate the fluctuation of incidence of IFI in our hospital. But I don't know the details of the stastical method and

Italicized title from index
Hi all!
I've written a handy script that uses a for loop to allow me to generate a
large number of figures and statistical outputs for a large dataset.
I am using indexing to retrieve a species name for the title of my graphs-
which worked fine. However, I need to italicize these species names.
I originally used the paste function, and had no problems with indexing:

CUSUM SQUARED structural breaks approach?
Dear all,
Does anyone know where there is R or S code for the CUSUM SQUARED
structural breaks approach? (Brown, Durban and Evans, 1975 - used in
Pesaran and Timmerman, 2002)
The problem is that the breaks package only appears to offer the
standard 'unsquared' CUSUM, even though it appears most think it is
inferior to the squared version. It might appear to be a relatively

likelihood from test result
Is there any automatic mechanism for extracting a likelihood or test
statistic distribution (PDF or CDF) from an object of class "htest" or
from another object of a general class encoding a hypothesis test
result?
I would like to have a function that takes "x", an object of class
"htest", as its only argument and that returns the likelihood or test
statistic

Need Advice with C# Program to Create and Display Cusum Chart
I need to write a C# program to create and display Cusum chart from any
of the packages,
spc, qcc or strucchange.
Issues:
1-The data resides in a MS SQL Database. The C# program will handle
obtaining the data for the requisite types of samples.
Assistance needed on:
1-How can I call the cusum capabilities of any of the above packages
and pass the data to the cusum function and plot?
2-How

turning list into vector/dataframe
Hi,
I have used this command :
resamples<-lapply(1:1000,function(i) sample(lambs,replace=F))
resamples2<-lapply(resamples,Cusum)
to get a list of 1000 samples of my data. The function Cumsum is defined as
follows:
Cusum<-function(x){
SUM<-cumsum(x)-(1:length(x))*mean(x)
min<-min(cumsum(x)-(1:length(x))*mean(x))
max<-max(cumsum(x)-(1:length(x))*mean(x))
diff<-max-min

CuSum & V-Mask
Good Afternoon,
I am currently writing a program to perform a cusum with v-mask and since I
am experiencing a few problems, was wondering if there is something similar
in existance?
Many thanks in advance,

R strucchange question: recursive-based CUSUM
Hello R users:
I'm trying now to apply the package strucchange to see whether there is
a structural change in linear regression. I have noted the following
problem that arises in my case with recursive-based CUSUM: generic
function recresid() in efp() generates an error, since (probably) it
cannot compute the inverse matrix of (X^(i-1)^T)*(X^(i-1)) at each step
(i-1), because the matrix

split a character variable into several character variable by a character
Dear Mao Jianfeng,
"r-help-owner" is not the place for help, but:
r-help at r-project.org
(CC-ed here)
In any case, strsplit() does the job, i.e.:
> unlist(strsplit("BCPy01-01", "-"))
[1] "BCPy01" "01"
You can work with the whole variable, like:
splitpop <- strsplit(df1$popcode, "-")
then access the first part with

qcc package & syndromic surveillance (multivar CUSUM?)
Dear R Community:
I am working on a public health early warning system, and
I see that the qcc package allows for CUSUM and other statistical quality tests
but I am not sure if my project is a good match for qcc functions as written.
Any advice you may have is very much appreciated.

Help with storage of each matrix generated in a loop
I need to store each matrix generated in a loop.
I've been working with the CUSUM algorithm and I've been trying to implement
it in R.
What I need to do with my dataset is to create 1000 randomized datasets and
cumulative sum them all and store all of those randomized CUSUMed datasets
for further analysis and creation of the simulation envelope in the CUSUM
chart. But I can't manage

Dear R-help list members,
I have the following question concerning the strucchange()-package: is
it possible to get the boundaries for one-sided (upper / lower) CUSUM

Thank you in advance.

All combinations possible in a mutliple regression
Hi,
I want to use four independent variables to predict the output of one
dependent variable using a linear model lm. I want to compare all possible
combinations of the 4 independent variables, including singles, pairs and
triples.
I was thinking of using the AIC test to compare all models and pick the best
one.
The model looks like this :
lm(Y ~ X1 + X2 + X3 + X4)
Thanks for your help

Mathematica and R
What are some effective ways to leverage the strengths of R and
Mathematica for the analysis of a single data set?
More specifically, are there any functions that can assist with any of
the following?
1. Calling an R function from Mathematica.
2. Calling a Mathematica function from R.
3. Using XML or another reliable data format to pass vectors, matrices,
and/or lists from one environment to
