Re: [nbdkit PATCH v5 4/4] vddk: Drive library loading from libdir parameter.
Unfortunately this series doesn't work with the real VDDK library :-(
I see:
nbdkit: debug: vddk: config_complete
nbdkit: debug: dlopen shim prefix set to /home/rjones/tmp/vddk-6.7.3/vmware-vix-disklib-distrib/lib64
Then a little bit later during VDDK initialization it fails with:
nbdkit: debug: VixDiskLib: Could not load default plugins from

Importing Excel/Openoffice Dates into R
Hi,
I would like to import some daily financial data from excel via csv.
More specifically, I would like to be able to use the ts.union function
from the tseries library as the dates are irregular and I need to line
up the dates so that I can place all the variables into one data frame.
The trouble is, how do I import the dates from excel into R? At the
moment I'm just importing the data

problems with garchFit
Hi all,
I post it on both r-help and r-finance since I don't know where is most
appropriate for this topic. Sorry if it bothers you.
I did garch fitting on S&P500 monthly returns with garchFit from fSeries. I
got same coefficients from all cond.dist except normal. I thought that is
probabaly usual for the data. But when I play with it, I got another
question.
I plot skew normal with

Help with predict.Arima with external regressor values [Repalced]
Hi all there
I am enjoying R since 2 weeks and I come to my first deadlock, il am trying
to use predict.Arima in the ts package.
I get a "Error in cbind(...) : cannot create a matrix from these types"

[nbdkit PATCH v6] vddk: Add re-exec with altered environment
In the next patch, we want to get rid of the requirement for the user
to supply LD_LIBRARY_PATH pointing to vddk libs, if we can derive it
ourselves from libdir. However, VDDK itself requires LD_LIBRARY_PATH
to be set (because it tries to load libraries that in turn depend on a
bare library name, which no manner of dlopen() hacking can work
around, and implementing la_objsearch() is no better for

Problem with get.hist.quote() in tseries
When using get.hist.quote(), I find the dates are broken. This is with
R 2.1.1 on Mac OS X `panther'.

Loading required package: quadprog
'tseries' version: 0.9-27
'tseries' is a package for time series analysis and computational
finance.
See 'library(help="tseries")' for details.

Windows JIT-Client and Emulated TLS
Hello LLVM-World,
yeah... It's me again and still with the never ending (but cool) task of jitting BC files under windows.
My setup is: LLVM 7.0.0, with the corresponding Clang, Visual Studio 2017 (Clang integrated via "vix" installer) and my target is also windows x64.
I create BC files with clang-cl and have currently a new test code, which has a static variable inside a lambda

[PATCH nbdkit 1/2] vddk: Delay loading VDDK until config_complete.
We were previously dlopen-ing it in the load() method. This is very
early and in particular means that the only possible way to configure
where we find the library is through environment variables and not
through config parameters. Also it's not necessary as we don't call
any functions from the library (such as VixDiskLib_InitEx) until
config_complete.
This change is neutral refactoring

[PATCH nbdkit 2/2] vddk: Drive library loading from libdir parameter.
Do not use LD_LIBRARY_PATH to locate the VDDK library. Setting this
always causes problems because VDDK comes bundled with broken
replacements for system libraries, such as libcrypto.so and
libstdc++.so. Two problems this causes which we have seen in the real
world:
(1) User does ‘export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=vmware-vix-disklib-distrib’ and
that breaks lots of ordinary utilities on their system.

Samba large file support negotiation when accessed via UNC path
I am experiencing a strange problem that I hope someone out there has
experience withf.
We have a large fileserver running samba 3.6 backed by a 12T ext4
filesystem. We keep lots of VMware VMs on the filestore and I am trying to
make some improvements to how we manage/launch/use the VMs. To that end,
I've been trying to launch the VMs via the VMware VIX API by UNC path (not
mapped drive).

CentOS 6 early panic on ESXi 4.1.0 build 800380
I run VMware vSphere 4 Essentials with three almost identically
configured ESXi 4.1 hosts and a mix of 32 and 64 bit guests including
Windows 2003 and 2008 as well as CentOS 5 and 6. Recently I updated one
of the hosts to build 800380. The new build runs Windows and CentOS 5
VMs fine, but CentOS 6 guests won't come up.
I tried two different CentOS 6 VMs. Both have the latest standard kernel
