Mirror Image on Biplot Graphic
He everybody, Well I have a biplot CCA-like origined from plot.cca (vegan package). I need to rotate on y axis the lines and symbols of constrained and sites representation. If I do that on an image editor, I rotate everything, including titles, axes labels and positions. I just need to rotate the inner par and keep the variables names (constrained) and symbols in the new positions but with the

Symbols On a Capscale Object Biplot
Hi, I'm a beginner with R, but I'm getting excellent results with it. Well I've got an capscale object (vegan package) and I want to made a biplot with symbols representing six groups of areas. With the plot.cca function and some par attributes (like 'labels') I was able to substitute the samples names for keyboard symbols ('x','o','#',ect), but

reproducing scaling used in biplot(pc.biplot=TRUE)
Hello, I'd like to reproduce the standard biplot with pc.biplot=TRUE using xyplot in lattice in order to assign different symbols to groupings of observations (similar to the example in fig. 11.2 on page 285 in DAAG). In order to reproduce the biplots I need to know how to scale the observations and variables. In ?biplot.princomp I found that the variables are scaled by 'lambda ^

Replacing labels with symbols in biplot
Dear all I would like to replace labels for x in biplot() with symbols (points) that will visually illustrate different classes/groups. After an unsuccessful search through the documents and archives, I turn to the list for help - any suggestions that can point me in the right direction? Thanks Mat Vanderklift

biplot graphical problems
Hello, I have a graphical problem concerning a biplot that I was ask to insert in a scientific work to be published. I've performed a princomp analysis and produce the relative biplot but the labels of variables are out of margin (see attached file). When I try to wide the x axis by the function xlim=c(i:j), nothing happens if not a partial shift of the x range. Is there any specific

how to display case names in biplot.prcomp?
hey, im trying hard to display names (given in a seperate variable) instead of "case numbers" in a pca plot (by biplot of a prcomp output). somebody could help me with this? lukas

Quick question about princomp/biplot
Hi everyone. I performing a simple PCA using the princomp function. Then, I use the biplot function to show it. However, the function use line number to represent samples. I would like to know if there's a way to use a dot (point) instead of the line number when using the biplot function. With regards, Phil -- View this message in context:

PC biplot display
Hello, I am creating biplots based on the prcomp principal components analysis command. I would like to display only the principal component vectors and the variables, not the data. Can anyone suggest how to do this? Thanks, Alyssa

discerning species by color in cca biplot
Dear List, I am running constrained correspondence analysis for abundance data of 7 birds. However, I would like to check which bird prefers which environment gradient by showing the species with different colors of the dots in cca plot (package vegan). Please kindly help and thank you Elaine [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

PCA biplot question
Hi everyone, I'd like to project two pcas onto one device window. I plot my first PCA: biplot(prcomp(t(cerebdevmat)), var.axes=FALSE, cex=c(1,.1), pc.biplot=TRUE) Now I'd like to project the features of another PCA onto this graph. Any suggestions? I know this is easily done in MatLab but haven't figured it out in R. Thanks, Tanya [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

biplot label size
Which is the parameter that is used to decrease the size of ylabs plotted in biplot? I tried playing with cex and cex.lab I am not getting it right pc <- princomp(USArrests) biplot(pc, xlabs = rep("", nrow(USArrests)),ylabs=(colnames(USArrests))) Thanks../Murli [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

2 Biplot Questions
I have 2 questions about the Biplot function: Both of the questions refer to the following type of graph, which is a biplot of a principal component analysis: biplot(prcomp(dataset)) 1. Does anyone know how to change the appearance of data points on the biplot? As it is currently, for this type of graph, the label for each data point shows up on the graph - does anyone know how to get rid

Clean up biplot resulting from princomp()
Dear R-helpers, The vectors in my biplot are completely obscured by the ~1400 labels R is printing on my biplot. I don't really care about the labels. How can I make the biplot without the annoying labels? See attached, if that helps you see my problem. Many thanks, Mark Na

Questions regarding biplot
Hi, I am using "biplot" (in package "stats") to visualize the results of some PCA analyses. When I use scale=0 in the biplot function, it draws X (PC1) and Y (PC2) axes, with the scales multiplied by sqrt(N), where N is the sample size. Is there a way to change these scales so that the actual values of PC1 and PC2 are shown, instead of multiplication by sqrt(n)?

Reading biplot function's source code
Hi everybody, Excuse me for this silly question, but after searching the help archives I'm still unable to find my way to read the source code of the "biplot" function in R. I have installed the mvbutils package, and tried: > fixr(biplot) which only gives me: function (x, ...) UseMethod("biplot") with no further details.... I'd like to read the code to see if

biplot breakdown help
Hi, I am trying to understand how the biplot.prcomp is constructed so I can manipulate it to emphasise particular observations and reduce the number of variables shown. The prcomp model I have ran has cor=TRUE and scale=TRUE I have worked out from looking at str(prcomp.model) that... prcomp.model$x = the observations ploted in the biplot prcomp.model$rotation = the variables that form the

Change cex.axis in biplot()
Hi, If I do something like: biplot(x, cex.axis = .7) then it will only change the font size for axis 1 and 2, but not 3 and 4. Is there a way to change the fonts on axis 3 and 4? -- Cheers, Kevin ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ /* Time is the greatest teacher, unfortunately it kills its students */ -- Ko-Kang Kevin Wang Master of Science

Change Data Point Label in biplot()
I'm a new user of R, and trying to display the result of a PCA data set with biplot(). Biplot() draws the projections of data points to the first two principal axis with a text level (I guess it is the name of the data points). This makes the picture very crowed. I tried to go through R documentation to figure out how to change the data point labels to a symbol, say circle, triangle or cross

Displaying a PLS biplot under a 3d surface plot
All: Anyone have an idea about how to plot a PLS biplot on the x-y plane under a 3-D surface? Preferably a 3-D surface such as one created with rgl.surface() (meaning, I would love an interactive plot when all is said and done). I have seen examples which combine a 3-d surface with contour plot (e.g.
