MySQL GUI for OS X
G''day everyone,
I''ve got Rails up and running, but am having trouble finding a stable
MySQL client for OSX.
I was looking at the ''Creating a weblog in 15 minutes'' screencast from
rubyonrails.org - what MySQL client is David using?
I''ve found the MySQL clients (Administrator / Query Browser) to be
highly unstable and rather pathetic under OSX.

Am I being to paranoid?
Hi All,
I want to know thoughts on if I am being to paranoid/security conscious.
CentOS 5.6, Apache, MySQL, running an Firewall in front of everything and obviously the built-in firewall on the box. I have ssh on a different port and starting to use Keys instead of password authentication. I host an intensive website and I am getting about 150 unique visitors per day.
What I am seeing is

PMA attacks
It appears to be a low-level attack, not so frequent as to be banned
permanently, just a number of times a day.
I did google on this, and I gather it's looking for phpmyadmin. We've been
getting one from one specific network in Russia for weeks

SQL "editor"
Hello all,
I am curious about what tools you guys use to make your databases. I
know David uses CocoaMySQL. Are there other tools for other platforms
and for other databases? I''m not very good with the SQL language, so
I would like being able to do all my database setup with an
easy-to-use tool (defining tables, fields, primary keys, foreign keys,
indexes, etc.)
Big kisses,
Vincent.

Applications used in the Rails video?
Hi all,
I just watched the rail video:
http://www.rubyonrails.org/media/video/rails_take2_with_sound.mov
I am just curious. I can tell that the video was done on a Mac, but I
cannot tell which applications were used for editing the code, and for
interfacing with MySQL database.
As far as editing source code, I normally use BBEdit (I''ve used it since
1994), but the editor used in

MySql 4.1.9, passwords, Rails
After spending a lot of time today trying to get CocoaMySQL connecting
to a remote MySQL 4.1.9 server via ssh tunnel and then experiencing the
password hashing issue locally when I put in passwords on my local
Mysql server, I started wondering about Rails compatibility.
Will rails now hash passwords correctly when connecting to MySql
4.1.7+, or should I stick with using old_password() when

Getting PG Manager Lite by EMS running.
I just installed on my up to date FreeBSD 5.4 box. I'm a little confused as
to whether or not there are things I need to configure or not.
I went to go through the docs, and it was talking about using a file named
"config" as a template, and modifying from there. Well that file didn't
exist anywhere on my machine, or in the source I downloaded. In fact,

OT: good admin gui postgresql on OSX?
Hi,
I recently bought by first Mac and I''m looking for some alternatives for
my windows applications.
Does anybody know a decent gui admin app for postgresql? On windows I
use postgresql manager:

I find this a very good piece of software and it''s free, even though I
paid a little for some extra features. I''d

Re: Rails Digest, Vol 17, Issue 663
CocoaMySQL is definitely the way to go. Great app. Unfortunately,
it''s somewhat complicated to find the correct version to use. Make
sure you get version CocoaMySQL v0.7b2 based on official SMySQL
framework (http://cocoamysql.sourceforge.net/beta.php). the current
stable version 0.5 does not work with MySQL4.1., the latest beta does

if you install cgi programs from rpm, how to configure for actual use in /var/www/html ?
In Centos 5.5, I've had this same experience over and over. I have no
trouble installing CGI programs the old fashioned way (untar into
/var/www/html and configure), but don't like un-rpm managed files
floating about. So I can install, for example, phpMyAdmin, from EPEL.
That phpMyAdmin RPM drops files into a bunch of locations, the php
files are under /usr/share/phpMysql
