Argh! Trouble using string data read from a file
Here is what I tried:
optdata =
read.csv("K:\\MerchantData\\RiskModel\\AutomatedRiskModel\\soptions.dat",
header = FALSE, na.strings="")
optdata
attach(optdata)
for (i in 1:length(V4) ) { x = read.csv(V4[[i]], header = FALSE,
na.strings="");x }
And here is the outcome (just a few of the 60 records successfully read):

Novice question about getting data into R
I found it easy to use R when typing data manually into it. Now I need to
read data from a file, and I get the following errors:
> refdata =

> = TRUE)

Why isn't R recognising integers as numbers?
I have a number of files containing anywhere from a few dozen to a few
thousand integers, one per record.
The statement "refdata18 =
read.csv("K:\\MerchantData\\RiskModel\\Capture.Week.18.csv", header =
TRUE,na.strings="")" works fine, and if I type refdata18, I get the integers
displayed, one value per record (along with a record number). However, when

Applying an R script to data within MySQL? How to?
I am trying something I haven't attempted before and the available
documentation doesn't quite answer my questions (at least in a way I can
understand). My usual course of action would be to extract my data from my
DB, do whatever manipulation is necessary, either manually or using a C++
program, and then import the data into R. Now I need to try to do it all
within R+RMySQL+MySQL.

Re: using Ajax.PeriodicalUpdater in iPhone
it''s probably the iPhone.
I mean, would you *really* want your phone to be connected to the internet
all the time?

Warranty on Accuracy, Precision, Legality, ... of R in Research
(These questions may well have been raised.)
What is the implied warranty of using R for research & publications, consulting, etc.?
Alternately, how does one obtain such a warranty?
Your answers will be much appreciated.
Perhaps you can point me to some websites which discussed this subject in the past.
Thanks & regards

Risk differences with survey package
I'm trying to use the survey package to calculate a risk difference with
confidence interval for binge drinking between sexes. Variables are
X_RFBING2 (Yes, No) and SEX. Both are factors. I can get the group
prevalences easily enough with
result <- svyby(~X_RFBING2, ~SEX, la04.svy, svymean, na.rm = TRUE)
and then extract components from the svyby object with SE() and coef() to
do the

[LLVMdev] opts do not occur in some situations?
Hi, I'm trying to understand the optimization passes. I was wondering
why some seemingly obvious optimizations don't occur in some
situations. For example, the attached file, main.opt.cpp compiles to
main.opt.ll ( after running opt -std-compile-opts ).
%0 = tail call double @_Z9factorialIdET_S0_(double 0.000000e+000) ;
<double> [#uses=1]
which could easily be determined as 1. And

Questions and a blockpull issue
Coming off of xen environment; still testing with kvm, just a few
questions:
1. What is the roadmap for release of qemu-kvm 1.1 and libvirt 0.10.2 for
el6, cause I had to compile from upstream to get the latest stuff.
2. Should not virt-manager show the sparsed disk size instead of actual
reserved size of a vm?
3. Where is the virsh bash_completion conf.d file from upstream; since el6

openssh on AIX v4.3.3 with native compiler
Hello,
Was looking in the archives... and haven't seen this one listed.
When I compile openssh-1.2pre17 on AIX v4.3.3 with the native compiler
I get the following errors. I haven't see this __attribute__ code.. What
compiler/libraries are needed to compile this? I have seen that people
have compiled openssh on AIX.. Just wondering what you have used.
# make

using foreach (parallel processing)
Hello group,
I am experimenting with parallel processing on my quad core Win 7 32
bit machine. Using these packages for the first time.
I can see all my processor running at full performance when I use a
smaller dataset
require(snow)
require(doSNOW)
require(foreach)
#change the 8 to however many cores\phys processors you have on your machine
cl.tmp = makeCluster(rep("localhost",4),

[LLVMdev] alignment checking in isSafeToEliminateVarargsCast
I have a question about a problem I came across while I was adding support
for aggregate va_arg expression in clang.
The following is the example program I will use in this email. I compile the
program with clang targeting mips. Note that I have not pushed all the
changes I have made yet, so you will not be able to see the same results.
$ clang -ccc-host-triple mipsel-unknown-linux

virsh migrate fails with Input/output error
Hey guys,
I'm running the following setup on a few hosts:
~ # virsh version
Compiled against library: libvir 0.9.8
Using library: libvir 0.9.8
Using API: QEMU 0.9.8
Running hypervisor: QEMU 1.0.0
Online Migrations with local storage are working smooth, Host OS is
always Ubuntu 12.04, CPUs are Intel E3-1245 V2, 32GB Ram. Now I
installed the same software on different hardware:
