Modeling presence only data in R
Dear All,
I have a set of environental maps and presence-only points for some species.
How can I generate distributions models on R using these presence-only data?
What packages and functions can I use to do so?
Kind regards,

How can I use Adehabitat to obtain an .asc object with the predicted values of a niche model?
Dear all,
I'm using the package adehabitat in R to import several .asc files
(=matrix),
and also create a kasc object (=dataframe) with all of them.
The main idea is to use this kasc object to map the predicted values of
climate-matching model for an overall area. However, I don't know how to
proceed: Do I have to project the model (already stored in R) onto the kasc
object directly, or

replicating dataframe rows
Dear all,
I have a data.frame like the sample below, and I would
like to expand my data.frame using "population" variable.
So, for each line of my data.frame I would like that
the new data.frame have many rows as the population collumn.

without success.
Surfing on R archieve I got an suggestion of

three-dimensional (volumetric) estimation from x,y,z points
Dear all,
I have a set of x,y,z points obtained from
a lizard species and now I would like to
estimate the three-dimensional use of space
for this species. I know that 2D area I can
estimate using adehabitat packages, but
I don´t know how to estimate the volumetric
space.
Any help are welcome.

estimating volume from xyz points
Dear all,
I have several sets of x-y-z points and I need to estimate the volume that
encompass all my points.
Recently I got some adivice to show the "convex hull" of my points using
geometry package (see code below).
But now I need to calculate the volume of my set of points.
Any advice are wellcome.
Thanks in advance

Numbers as Points in Graphs
I am trying to produce a simple plot where the points in the plot are
actually integers from my data. That is, I am making a length/width plot and
I would like the points, rather dots or triangles, appear as different
numbers corresponding to a column in my data. I have tried using this:
...,pch="column title"
but this merely returns the first letter of the column title, B. Is there

Calculating home ranges using mcp in adehabitat
Hello,
I've been trying to calculate home range sizes (for Icelandic geese!) using
minimum convex polygons with the adehabitat package. I've tried to use the R
code shown by demo(homerange) in adehabitat and when that didn't work I've
fiddled around with it but to no avail...Below is the output of the demo
that I've attempted to follow, followed by a subset of my data (for one

Need help creating spatial correlation for MC simulation
I want to create a dataset in R with spatial correlation (i.e. clustering)
built in for a linear regression analysis. Any tips on how to do this?
Thanks.

[SoC09-Idea] Movement Ecology add-ons for adehabitat package
Hi all,
here's a proposal for a SoC project on wildlife movement patterns analysis.
A MSc student is available to anwser the call, of course. The idea has already
been briefly discussed with the mantainer of the adehabitat package and the
AniMov project community.
Short description

Hello,
I am using rbetabinom ( to generate beta binomial random variables) function
available in the "emdbook"package written by Professor. Ben Bolker for my
research study.
I have no questions with this function. However, I am looking for the
theoretical method/algorithm of the function "rbetabinom " .

course in ecological data analysis
Dear all,
For my PhD study I'm looking for relevant courses/workshops (short term)
in ecological data anlysis with R in Europe. After 2 days searching I'm
convinced that google is probably not the right medium to find this
information. If anyone can help me I will be most grateful.

Duplicated date values aren't duplicates
Dear list,
I just had a function (as.ltraj in Adehabitat) give me the following error:
"Error in as.ltraj(xy, id, date = da) : non unique dates for a given burst"
I checked my dates and got the following:
> dupes<-mydata$DateTime[duplicated(mydata$DateTime)]
> dupes
[1] (07/30/02 00:00:00) (08/06/03 17:45:00)
Is there a reason different dates would come up as duplicate
