legend() graphics output bug (PR#5725)
Full_Name: Daniel Gasser
Version: 1.8.1
OS: Win XP
Submission from: (NULL) (130.60.20.92)
The legend()-Function shows a different behaviour than it did in Version 1.6.1.
It plots a black box left of the legend lines on each legend row. In 1.6.1 there
was just the line in appropriate color for each row in the legend (i was using
exactly the same legend statement and same plot function).

line width in legend of interaction.plot
Dear R developers,
The following command produces an interaction plot with lwd=2.
interaction.plot(c(1, 2, 1, 2), c(1, 1, 2, 2), 1:4, lwd=2)
In the legend, however, lwd seems to be 1, which does not seem
to be intended behavior. Probably the lwd is not correctly forwarded
to legend:
from the interaction.plot source:
legend(xleg, yleg, legend = ylabs, col = col, pch = if (type %in%

Turn any vector
Dear R-users,
I'd like to turn a vector so it starts with it's end. For better
understanding, this set of commands will do what I need:
i <- seq(1:10)
i_turned <- i
for (j in 1:length(i)) i_turned[j] <- i[length(i)-j+1]
now, i_turned is what I call turned. Is there a function which would make a
script lighter? Thank you upfront for any hint.
Best regards,
Zroutik

increase a value by each group?
Hi everybody.
I'm looking for the way to increase the depth value in 0.01 for each index group.
Easier to explain with this example:
>my_data=read.table("clipboard", header=TRUE)
Depth s_name index

A comprehensive manual on "How to plot" (a lot of graphical examples welcome)
Hi,
I'm looking for a manual (we based or pdf) which would explain in detail
with graphical examples what all the option can do in plot and par. Does
anybody now anything like this? A couple of manuals to R I went through do
have plot parameters mentioned, but sometimes it is hard to understand or
imagine what the parameter can do (the same with the related help page)
e.g. I met "From

dev.copy legend problem
Dear all,
We are facing this problem for long, and so ask for your help.
We are plotting 2 graphs in a postscript device (left part -layout
function-), and the common legend for these graphs on the right part.
The legend in the postscript device looks ok: this is color lines with
numbers on the right (6 columns) , see the code below:
> nblock<-c(1:48)
> leg<-paste(c(1:npin),"

R conditional matrix operations - advanced condition
Hello List!
I stumbled across an efficiency problem - calculation that would be
probably done very fast as a matrix operation I must perform as a
for-loop.
My intention was to do a conditional operation in matrix depending on
the information in first column (summing as many data points from
vector my_data as the number specified in the first column of the
matrix) but the result is that the

symbols and legend: how to harmonize point size ?
Hi,
I was wondering if it is possible to harmonize the ouput of symbols()
and legend() both from the graphics package.
Let us take this example:
x<-runif(10)
y<-runif(10)
z<-runif(10)
leg<-round(seq(min(z),max(z),l=4),2) # 4 values rounded up to 2 decimals
for the legend
symbols(x,y,circles=z,inches=0.2)
legend("topright",legend=leg,pch=1,pt.cex=leg/max(leg)*2) #

exists function on list objects gives always a FALSE
Dear R-users,
in a minimal example exists() gives FALSE on an object which obviously does
exist. How can I check on that list object anyway else, please?
> SmoothData <- list(exists=TRUE, span=0.001)
> SmoothData
$exists
[1] TRUE
$span
[1] 0.001
> exists("SmoothData")

> exists("SmoothData$span")

> exists("SmoothData[[2]]")

how to use "..."
Dear users,
I'm trying to learn how to use the "...".
I have written a function (simplified here) that uses doBy::summaryBy():
# 'dat' is a data.frame from which the aggregation is computed
# 'vec_cat' is a integer vector defining which columns of the data.frame
should be use on the right side of the formula

legend with multiple columns
I have made a minor hack to "legend" (in R 1.0.0, but I didn't notice
any changes to legend in the 1.0.1 NEWS) to allow the legend to be
formatted in multiple columns, or horizontally (number of columns <-
number of legend items). (I find this helpful when I have lots of legend
items and not a lot of vertical space to squeeze the legend into.)
(Another hack I've considered

Problems with Boxplot
Hello,
I have been having difficulty getting boxplot to give the output I want -
probably a result of the way I have been handling the data.
The data is arranged in columns: each date has two sets of data. The number
of data points varies with the date, so each column is of different length.
I want to get a series of boxplots with the date along the x-axis, with
alternating colors, so that it

[LLVMdev] load widening conflicts with AddressSanitizer
Dear All,
I think adding metadata and expecting transforms to repect it is a bad idea. It is just too easy for someone who does not know about the metadata to add a transform that ignores it.
As for SAFECode, I think we have one of several options for handling load-widening. The most obvious one is to have a pass that just boosts the allocation size of any alloca with an align 16 attribute;

Legend symbol?
Hello,
I am creating a plot/image using different data and a couple fit lines
(see attached image). In the legend, I want the Default and Exponential
symbol to be a line. I am using the pch command, I tried to use "-" to
represent a line but does not work so I currently have set as a "1".
Any thoughts or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

[LLVMdev] Expand vector type
Hi,
* Is there a way to setup LLVM to automatically convert vec3s to vec4s?
Yes, if you specify v3i16 and friends as "promote" instead of "legal", llvm
will promote it to a v4i16. The ARM NEON backend does this already. I'm
surprised you haven't got this happening already as you mention that LLVM
widens your loads to 4-element vectors. (this should happen during

lattice xyplot: plot multiple lines with different colors
Hi everyone,
I am using the lattice package to plot some simulation results, by using
the function xyplot(). However, I cannot find a way to plot multiple
lines within the same xyplot and to have each of the lines be drawn in a
different color.
This is what I am currently doing:
xyplot(a + b + c ~ x, my_data, panel = panel.lines)
but, of course, all lines are drawn in the same color.

How to draw a border for multiple graphs in one page
Hi,
I am struggling to create a 2 by 2 multiple graphs in one page. I used par(mfrow=c(2,2)) to divide the screen into 4. In each screen I draw a pie chart (They are all same).
For example, my data is like this

[LLVMdev] Expand vector type
James,
Thanks for your response. I'm working in LLVM 2.7 (I know, it's old) and the default behavior is already promote. This means that for example a call to DAGTypeLegalizer::getTypeAction(v3i32) in my case and I presume in ARM NEON returns TypeWidenVector. From here legalization calls WidenVectorOperand() to process the STORE node and follows the call chain I have on my original email
