Upgrade Samba 3.0.28 to 3.6.0 problems
Hello, having a problem upgrading a samba installation version 3.0.28 on a FreeBSD 7.x server. I use samba as a PDC with roaming profiles and user shares. I have to upgrade it to allow Windows 7 Pro workstations to join the domain. I was able to build the binaries sucessfully and install them, everything ran OK, but.... I noticed that my smbpasswd file had I guess been relocated and I had to

clusters in zero-inflated negative binomial models
Dear all, I want to build a model in R based on animal collection data, that look like the following Nr Village District Site Survey Species Count 1 AX A F Dry B 0 2 AY A V Wet A 5 3 BX B F Wet B 1 4 BY B V Dry B 0 Each data point shows one collection unit in a certain Village, District, Site, and Survey for a certain Species. Questionnaire Analysis virtually without continuous Variables
Hello! I am doing an analysis on a questionnaire of hunters taken in 4 different districts of some mysterious foreign country. The aim of the study was to gather info on the factors that determine the hunting success of a peculiarly beautiful bird in that area. All variables are factors, i.e. they are variables such as "Use of Guns - yes / no", "Use of Dogs - yes / no" and

yum-proxy?
Hi, I've been using Debian for a few years, and there was one nifty little app that made installing and updating so much easier: apt-proxy. Most of the time, I'm taking care of small LANs with an average of five client PCs. But this is a very remote place in South France, so most villages only have 512 kbps DSL. One major update for openoffice.org-*, and I have to wait the whole day

How to label percentage values inside stacked bar plot using R-base
Hello, I am new to R. I would like others to explain to me how to add absolute values inside the individual stacked bars in a consistent way using the basic R plotting function (R base). I tried to plot a stacked bar graph using R base but the values appear in an inconsistent/illogical way in such a way that its supposed to be 100% for each village but they don't sum up to 100%. Here is the

Reverse-ATA : Using PSTN lines to connect to Asterisk
Hi, I'm looking for a few pointers on using ATA to connect Asterisk to the PSTN. Basically, I'm running a Hosted PBX service, and in urban centers I can usually get SIP or PRIs. Since I sell my customers SIP hardphones, the data flow is like this: Customer's SIP Hardphone ---- My own Asterisk ----- Outside lines But when it comes to smaller villages (I deal with people in tiny

Text mining
Hallo to everybody, I would like to perform an analysis but I don't know how to proceed and whether R packages are available for my purpose or not. Therefore I'm here to request your support. *The idea is the following:* I noticed that the names of the towns and villages in northern Italy most of the time sound differently from names of cities based on southern Italy. Just to give you an

Three Stage Sampling of categorical variable using 'survey' in R
For a sanitation project in Bangladesh I need to design a three stage sample survey to be representative of around 40 million people. I find myself suddenly with several challenges with which I struggle and would be gratefully for any help. As the questions are linked I kept them together rather than creating multiple posts 1) SURVEY DESIGN So far I designed mainly two stage cluster surveys but

simulating binary random numbers using 'mvtnorm'
Hi R-users, I just started learning R. I have a project on lot quality assurance sampling (LQAS). In this project I have to develop LQAS plans to make decision on stopping / continuing a programme. The LQAS plans is based on cluster sampling: selection of k clusters (villages) of m children each for a total sample of n. In this connection I would like to estimate the classification errors ( alpha

Jitter in xYplot?
Hello, The simple example below plots three species by year and site. However, I would like the points to occur in groups horizontally, rather than on top of each other. I thought jitter might work, but haven't been successful in getting it to do what I want. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. John wt=rnorm(27,5,0.6) yr=rep(c(2000,2001,2002),each=3)

Introduction
Hi, I'm a 40-year old sysadmin living in Montpezat, a small village in the sunny south of France. I'm a Linux user since 2001, when I made my first steps on a 486 with a Slackware 7.1 CD. I've tried maybe two dozen distributions, but I've stayed mostly with Slackware and Debian. Since last summer, I work as a sysadmin for our "Communaut? de Communes", a group of 16

[LLVMdev] Emotional responses to feedback
Earlier this year I was lucky enough to have the chance to speak with a very successful businessman at the top of his niche, and I asked him, "Clearly you have a formula for success, what is it?" He told me his secret. He said that every month they pull a name out of a bucket, and that person must then prepare a 20 minute presentation explaining why one of their COMPETITOR'S

Mass installs of desktop systems on identical machines
Hi, I'm running a small Linux consulting business here in a group of small villages in the South of France (http://www.microlinux.fr). I'm using CentOS for everything, servers as well as desktops. The desktop installs are usually highly customized. My approach is to list the client's needs, find the corresponding applications and then install these, to avoid the bloat and

Hi Josh, I got a new computer yesterday, a 64bit intel core 2 duo. I am running the amd64 port of Ubuntu 6.10 (edgy).
