Conditionally Updating Lattice Plots
Hi All... I can?t seem to find an answer to this in the help pages, archives, or Deepayan?s Lattice Book. I want to do a Lattice plot, and then update it, possibly more than once, depending upon some logical options. Code below; it produces a second plot page when the second update is called, from which I would infer that you can't update the update or I'm not calling it correctly. I

Help on Plot Title where text is "mixed" with numerical carachters
Dear All,   I have the following code set up:   x <-2000 y <-8 z <-3   I would need to use these numbers to show up in my plot title "mixed" with text. The x,y,z numbers would need to change, the text would not. So my title should look like this   "x txt1 y txt2 z txt3"   so if: txt1=hours txt2=minutes txt3=seconds   then my title of the plot should read:   2000 hours

Replacing Period in String
Dear R Users, I am working with gsub for the first time. I am trying to remove some characters from a string. I have hit the problem where the period is the shorthand for 'everything' in the R language when what I want to remove is the actual periods. In the example below, I simply want to remove the periods as I have removed the comma, but instead the complete string is wiped out. I

Decoding subscripts/superscripts from CSVs
Hi, I have a CSV file with various biological reactions. Subscripts, superscripts, and italics are encoded in carats, and I was wondering if R can actually recognize those and print actual superscripts, etc. Here's an example: <i>S</i>-adenosyl-L-methionine + rRNA = <i>S</i>-adenosyl-L-homocysteine + rRNA containing

Remove superscripts from HTML objects
Is there some way to remove superscripts from objects returned by html/xmlParse (XML package)? h <- "<html><p>Cata</p><p>Dog</p></html>" doc <- htmlParse(h) xpathSApply(doc, "//p", xmlValue) [1] "Cata" "Dog" I could probably remove the tags from the "h" object above,

Converting to subscripts and superscripts
Hi, I am reading in a CSV file of chemical reactions where the subscripts and superscripts are encoded in angle brackets, like below: 2 H+ + 2 O2- Is there a way to convert these to actual sub/superscripts and save them in another excel file? I greatly appreciate the help! Thanks, -Nina PS. I asked this before, but I

superscripts in xyplot labels
R-helpers; I tried to get a superscripted 3 in the following xyplot example but failed: >data(whiteside) >xyplot(Gas ~ Temp | Insul, whiteside, panel = function(x, y, ...) { panel.xyplot(x, y, ...) panel.lmline(x, y, ...) }, xlab = "Average external temperature (deg. C)", ylab = paste(paste("Gas consumption (1000", expression(ft^3),")"), aspect

Inserting superscripts in free-format text line
I would like to insert a superscript in a body of text (e.g., a title or axis label), where the superscript is not necessarily at the end of the text. For example, suppose a title read, "This is a Test^1 of the Emergency Broadcast System" where there is a superscript 1 after the word Test. As a starting point for what I'm trying to do, the following shows a superscript:

numbers and superscripts in the same unit of measurement.
Hola everyone, I'm doing an analisys about abundance of a planctonic specie in Robinson Crusoe Islan and I am having a hard time just adding the superscripts and the 100 (one hundred) in the measure of abundance. Perhaps this is so basic to you, but I need to put the real unit of measure. Individuals / 100 cubic meters. I have been looking in websites and R-list and there is not any

isotope superscripts ggplot2
Happy Friday fellow R users. I need some help - I am trying to make a graph using ggplot 2 of some lead isotope ratios. Normally, the isotope mass number appears as a superscript before the chemical symbol. However, I cannot figure out how to do this ggplot2's axis labels. The closest I have come is using "." In front of the numbers I am superscripting e.g: ggplot(....

help with superscripts in simple plots
Hello All, When I use the following lines of code to create a plot and add labels with R-square values the labels have a superscripted R2. library(lattice) xyplot(PropHatchedNests$Phatched + PropHatchedNests$PropNests + PropHatchedNests$meanHSI + PropHatchedNests$RelMeanEggsNest ~ PropHatchedNests$Year, type = "b", scales=list(tick.number=length(PropHatchedNests$Year)),

Formatting numerical output
Hello, I am new to R and am having difficulty formatting numerical output from a regression analysis. My code iteratively performs linear regression on a dataset while excluding certain data ranges. My code: rm(list = ls(all = TRUE)) sink("outfile") dat <- read.table("testdat", sep="\t", header=TRUE) int = 0.2 for (x in c(0:20)) { subdat <- subset(dat, time

Superscripts and subscripts in trellis graphics

Simultaneous subscripts and superscripts
Dear List, I'd like to add text to a plot where a text symbol has both a superscript and subscript. For example, the variable S with a superscript 2 and a subscript t. I have been able to accomplish this using either expression( paste(S,atop(scriptstyle(2),scriptstyle(t))) ) or expression( {S[t]}^2 ) but the spacing isn't quite right (or rather what I'd like) using either of
