Blank certain areas of a contour plot
Hi,
I'm interpolating a list of syncronous accumulated precipitation
observations collected over a number of raingauge stations sited over
land, over a regular lat/lon grid using akima's interp().
Then, I plot and locate geographycally the resulting field with a
filled.contour() and a call to map(). Everything is fine but I need to

zooreg and lmrob problem (bug?)
Hi all and thanks for your time in advance,
I can't figure out why summary.lmrob complains when lmrob is used on a
zooreg object. If the zooreg object is converted to vector before
calling lmrob, no problems appear.
Let me clarify this with an example:

Is this sapply behaviour normal?
Hi, I'm trying to use sapply to compute the min of several variables, each

"Rotated Lat-Lon" projection in mapproj
Hi,
I'm trying to plot a field obtained from the atmospheric model WRF-NMM
which uses a "Rotated Lat-Lon? map projection.
The WRF documentation mentions that:
? Rotates the earth's lat/lon grid such that the intersection of the
equator and prime meridian is at the center of the model domain.
? Within the rotated framework the grid spacing is constant, but in an
earth-relative

mirror whole hard disk with rsync
I want to create an exact copy of a whole hard disk and to maintain this copy
synchronised with the "original" one. The idea is to have a safe backup that
allows me, in case the "original" disk fails, to change it by the "clone"
disk and start the computer as if nothing had happened. The computer runs
Linux.
I heard a good option for this purpose is to use dd to

Ternaryplot as an inset graph
Hello
I am trying to add a ternary plot as a corner inset graph to a larger
main ternary plot. I have successfully used add.scatter in the past for
different kinds of plots but It doesn't seem to work for this particular
function. It overlays the old plot rather than plotting as an inset.
Here is a simple version of what I'm trying. Note that if I change the
inset plot to be an ordinary

figure with inset
I am trying to plot a figure within a figure (an inset that shows a closeup of
part of the data set). I have searched R-help and other sources but not found a
solution.
What I would like to do is
(1) produce a plot
(2) specify a window that will be used for the next plot (in inches or using the
coordinate system of the plot produced in (1)
(3) overlay a new plot in the window specified under (2)

How do I get an inset graph (i.e. graph within a graph)?
Hi, all,
How do I get an inset graph (i.e. graph within a graph)? Your input
is greatly appreciated.

gmaps, projection, inset
Running R version 2.6.1 under Gentoo Linux, I'm trying to produce a
thematic map of the USA using the gmaps package. The result thus far
has two problems from my point of view.
First, the projection (Miller cylindrical?) elongates southern states
and flattens northern ones unattractively. I'd prefer Albers conic
projection or something similar.
Second, the inset for Alaska is placed

inset one map on top of another map
I want to overlay a small inset map on top of another map, but I can't
figure out how to do it.
For example, here are two different maps:
# map 1 - Ohio
map("state", region= "ohio")
# map 2 - US with Ohio darkened
map("state")
map("state", region="ohio", fill=T, add=T)
I would like to add map 2 as a small inset in the corner of map 1.

Intermittent crashes with inset `[<-` command
Hi Brian,
I don't have a windows machine, but on a modern macbook pro I'm not able to
get this to crash in 3.5.1 or a very recent built-from-source R-devel. I
increased the length of x by 2 orders of magnitude but that just made the
loop take a lot longer to successfully run in both R versions i tested.
So seems like there is some OS/machine dependency at work here (?).
Best,

Comparar variables fecha formato POSIXct

Trouble with gridBase and inset plots
Dear All,
I ma having a trouble in generating a figure containing 3 insets with
the gridBase package.
I always get an error message of the kind:
Error in gridPLT() : Figure region too small and/or viewport too large
No matter which parameters I choose. The plots works nicely with two
insets only, but when I try adding the third one, my troubles begin.
I am probably doing something wrong in the

organizar datos

Intermittent crashes with inset `[<-` command
On an azure centos VM, I can reproduce this bug which reports either:
 *** caught segfault ***
address 0x70000006a, cause 'memory not mapped' (crash)
Or
incompatible types (from builtin to integer) in subassignment type fix
(no crash)
Like Gabriel, I could not reproduce the bug on a mac laptop. Both R
versions 3.5.1.

Lattice fails to draw insets
Hello all lattice experts!
I'm currently trying to plot inset figures in my lattice graphics. The
plot is composed out of two panels and in each panel I want to show an
inset figure which is a closeup of the data in each panel. Thus in each
panel I call xyplot again to plot the inset which I place in a grid
viewport. Nevertheless, once my first inset plot is drawn, lattice
