Installing R help files (2.11 or later) when no internet access.
We work on a secure stand-alone server with no internet access, for security reasons. We are running Windows XP. SInce version 2.11 the R help files point straight to the internet. Is there any way we could have a local help that we could access on our server. Thanks in advance for any solutions Gillian Raab

converting NA/non-NA's to a binary variable
Dear R colleagues, I am trying to create a new column in a data frame, which converts values and NA's from another column into binary format. Essentially I need the NA's to become 1 and the rest to be 0. The code I wrote is returning the following error message: Error in if (mort[i, 4] != NA) mort[i, 8] <- 0 else if (mort[i, 4] == : missing value where TRUE/FALSE needed

tap1 problem
Hi Tinc Mailing-Group, Having set up the kernel correctly, and got tinc running successfully, I am now trying to get two VPNs running at once. Hence I need to have two ethertap devices ( /dev/tap0 and /dev/tap1 ). The first tap0 device was created thus: mknod -m 600 /dev/tap0 c 36 16 chown 0.0 /dev/tap0 The second tap1 device was created too: mknod -m 600 /dev/tap1 c 36 17 chown 0.0 /dev/tap1

Problem with dovecot under Vmware Server
Hi all, Recently installed dovecot and postfix under Fedora8 and it works great. Then I installed both postfix and dovecot under VMWare Server (different machine) copying the same configuration files but changing the hostname and domain as appropriate. When testing the installation using: telnet hostname 143, I receive * OK Dovecot ready But when I telnet on port 25, I receive: Trying

single static ip address
Hi Tinc group, I have recently got an adsl connection at home, which only provides a single static ip address. I want to set up a tinc vpn from home to my workplace. I am trying to decide what hardware I need to do the above. At the moment, I am aware that I could use an Alcatel Speedtouch USB modem directly connected to a Linux vpn box at my home. samba 3.06rc2, suse 64amd and os2
Hi, I am having a lot of trouble with getting 0s2 to talk with samba. They seem to be making the right noises at handshake time, and seem to set up a session no problems (using ethereal, monitoring packets). However, when it comes to actually transferring information (such as doing a listing of a share from the os2 box) it crashes with the error: Open AndX Request, Path: \OSO001.MSG; Read

Revised documentation on website
Hello everyone, I have put revised and even more up-to-date documentation on the website (http://tinc.nl.linux.org/documentation/tinc.html). It is actually meant for the upcoming pre4 release, but most of it applies to pre3 as well, and it is a lot more helpful than the previous docs. -- Met vriendelijke groet / with kind regards, Guus Sliepen <guus@sliepen.warande.net> --------------

can't get tinc to compile..
Hi Tinc Mailing Group, I've been trying for some days now, to get tinc up and running. Could someone please suggest what I could do to get it working. I've installed Redhat 6.2 onto a pc, and then installed the latest 2.2 kernel: 2.2.18 from source code (The usual make menuconfig ; make dep ; make bzImage , etc). I've followed the tinc instructions for adding the

tinc fails because of firewall script
Hi Tinc Mailing-Group, I am a bit stuck with firewalling rules at the moment. Maybe someone could please advise me a good rc.firewall script to use on my setup. If anyone runs an ipchains firewall script on their linux box which is ALSO running tinc, could they please mail it to me, for my perusal. I have tinc pre3 set up and working on my systems, however I can only get it to work if I set the

Possible problem with namespaceImportFrom() and methods for generic primitive functions
Hi all, I have a problem with a package that imports two other packages which both export a method for the `[` primitive function. I set up a reproducible example here: https://github.com/kforner/namespaceImportFrom_problem.git Basically, the testPrimitiveImport package imports testPrimitiveExport1 and testPrimitiveExport2, which both export a S4 class and a `[` method for the class. Then: R

Possible bug in base::namespaceImportFrom?
Hi, namespaceImportFrom in base/R/namespace.R has the following: fdef <- methods:::getGeneric(genName, impenv) The definition of getGeneric is in methods/R/RMethodUtils.R starts with: getGeneric <- ## return the definition of the function named f as a generic. ## ## If there is no definition, throws an error or returns ## NULL according to the value of

issue with base:::namespaceImportMethods
Hi, I've noticed an issue with S4 methods and namespaces which only arises in particular, difficult to reproduce configurations. One example is the ggbio package in Bioconductor, which currently emits these warnings when its namespace is loaded: ---------------------- library(ggbio) Loading required package: ggplot2 Attaching package: ‘ggbio’ The following object(s) are masked from

Allowing clients to test their Sieve scripts
Hi, One thing which came up repeatedly is that clients using the IMAP server I run (using Dovecot 2.1) wonder whether they broke their Sieve scripts, i.e. it often goes like "I don't know whether I just didn't receive any mail, or whether my filters broke. Can you check the logs?". I then usually just run the sieve-test binary (part of the Pigeonhole distribution) and send them

Calling dovecot-lda correctly from exim for virtual user setup
Hi, I'm running Dovecot 2.1.7 on Debian. Exim is the MTA. I was recently made aware of the fact that the way in which Exim invokes dovecot-lda is prone to code injection: dovecot_virtual_delivery: driver = pipe command = HOME=/home/vmail/\$local_part /usr/lib/dovecot/dovecot-lda -f \$sender_address use_shell .. I.e. a command is executed via the shell, and Exim uses

Squat FTS plugin not kicking in
Hi, I'm running Dovecot 2.1.12 on FreeBSD. I configured Dovecot to use the Squat plugin to provide faster full-text searches. The output of 'dovecot -n' is attached to this mail. However, I just noticed that this plugin doesn't seem to kick in. A raw telnet session seems to confirm this: [..] . SEARCH BODY abcdefg * OK Searched 57% of the mailbox, ETA 0:06 * SEARCH 3425 6254

Re: [cAos] centos-3 x86_64 install hangs
Hello gillian, You can try adding these options to the kernel commandline and it might help: noapic iommu=off The 2.4/2.6 hybrid kernel that RedHat supplies with RHEL3 has some issues with some AMD64 motherboards AFAIK, and the above options made the CentOS 3's kernel bootable for me on one of our systems. BTW - I've moved this to the CentOS mailing list, that is a more appropriate forum

Marking all mail in one folder of public mailbox as read
Hi, I'm running Dovecot 1.2.17 on FreeBSD 9 to serve an archive of a few internal mailinglists. The archive is implemented using a public namespace: namespace private { separator = / prefix = inbox = yes } namespace public { separator = / prefix = Lists/ location = maildir:/home/vmail/lists/Maildir:CONTROL=~/Maildir/lists:INDEX=~/Maildir/lists subscriptions = no } As
