advice needed: damagecontrol or CIA?
Hi,
I''m looking to set up a continuous integration server for a rails
application. This application is under source control with darcs.
I''ve read about damagecontrol and CIA, and wonder what experience you
can share so I can make my mind.
CIA seems to work with a post-commit so I should be able to use it
with darcs. And as it is in the rails svn repository, I have good hope

lock problems from concurrent processes.
Hi!
First, thanks a LOT for ferret. The API and documentation is great.
I''m trying to integrate ferret into a RoR app (DamageControl) and have
run into a problem with locks.
DamageControl consists of two processes that start up and run in
parallel. The first one is the webapp (which
is just a plain RoR app). The second is a daemon process that runs in
the background.
The daemon process

indexing source code
Hi again,
I''m using ferret to index source code - DamageControl will allow users
to search for text in source code.
Currently I''m using the default index with no custom analyzer (I''m
using the StandardAnalyzer). Do you have any recommendations about how
to write an analyzer that will index source code in a more ''optimal''
way? I.e. disregard common

RoR on OpenBSD 3.8
Has anyone on this list setup lighttpd on OpenBSD 3.8 with fast-cgi and PHP5
? If so did you have to install PHP5 with the ports system or is it
possible to use the PHP5 package ?
Thanks,
Greg

Nightly Linux build?
Hey guys,
I''m really sorry to be so out of touch these days. We just hired two new
programmers at work so I''m busy bringing them up to speed...in time for
them to help us get a major release out at the end of the year.
So my personal goals for wxruby participation at the moment are:
1. Respond to any support requests as quickly as possible
2. Respond to any questions from you

streams in fork
hi all,
is there a way to use fork with redirected streams? i mean in a
similar way that ruby''s standard open3 does it.
i''d like to be able to read the stdout/stdin/stderr streams from the
forked ruby process in the parent process.
cheers,

using a local MS SQL Server
I would appreciate any tips/clues/advice very much.
I have started using ruby on rails and when the MS SQL Server database is on
a different box than my dev box (where the RoR app is located) I can connect
fine. However when I try to connect to a MS SQL Server database on the same
box as my RoR app I get an error. I have tried to use the IP address of the
dev box as the value of

Licensing question
I''m considering using rubytorrent as the transport in a distributed
build system.
(DamageControl - a rails-based continuous integration server similar
to buildbot - http://buildbot.sourceforge.net/ and bitten -
http://bitten.cmlenz.net/)
DamageControl is going to be licensed under a BSD license, so I was wondering if
you''d consider providing a dual license for rubytorrent that

9.2-PRE: switch off that stupid "Nakatomi Socrates"
Hello,
I'd like to switch off this silly "Nakatomi Socrates" message which
reminds me on Linux and their childish naming schemes.
It is only cosmetics, but it bothers me whenever I switch on the laptop.
I guess there is a switch already prsent to have in the bootloader
config?
Thanks,

small lan - novice - 2
Hi,
armed with Samba-3 -by example I proceeded to test my 2 linux lan
[suselinux pro 9.1 with Samba 3.0.9-2.6-suse].
I followed instructions and made the smb.config as small as possiblw:
[global]
workgroup = snj
server string = Samba Server
guest ok = yes
[orb]
comment = removable 2.2 gb hd
path = /orb
browsable = yes
read only = no
However, I was stumped practically immediately as you can

reload controller with FCGI
since webrick does not need to run with FCGI how do you get a rails
app in FCGI mode to reload the controller (since it caches in
production). Is it simply a restart of apache ?

How to implement tag clouds using plugin?
The code on
http://blog.craz8.com/articles/2005/10/28/acts_as_taggable-is-a-cool-piece-of-code
is based on the acts_as_taggable gem, anybody has done that using the
acts_as_taggable plugin?thanks!
btw:the code above uses the tag_count method, which is defined in the
gem:
def tags_count(options = {})
options = {:order => ''count DESC''}.merge(options)

APC Matrix 5000 UPS
Hello,
I can get nut to work with this UPS using the apcsmart driver, but only
with limited functionality. It is only reporting the OL/OB status and
that's about it. None of the other useful variables such as run time,
load etc are reported and initiating battery tests does not work either.
Has anyone managed to get nut to report more than these variables with a
Matrix type UPS?

apcsmart and dual environmental sensors
Hi,
We have a several AP9612TH environmental cards (they have 2 probe
connectors) inserted into our APC UPS devices which monitor temperature
and humidity. The apcsmart nut module knows how to query the
ambient.temperature and ambient.humidity using the 't' and 'h' commands
of the UPS (refer to apcsmart.h). The results of the 't' and 'h'
commands are from probe 1.

Resizeable
Has anyone done any work on a "Resizeable" class they''d be willing to share?
I''m looking to do some stuff that''ll need resizable divs, but I didn''t want
to re-invent the wheel if I can avoid it.

Findings of dual APC UPS sensor attachments
Hi,
We have several APC Smart UPSes (serial port/apcsmart) with the APC
Temp/Humidity sensor cards (AP9612TH). The sensor cards have 2 plugs for
2 separate sensors. So far, we have only used one of the sensors in
conjunction with the apcsmart module from nut. This has been working
great. Example output:
[nut at nut]# upsc APC11
ambient.humidity: 037.2
ambient.humidity.alarm.maximum: NO,NO
