ext3fs patch for 2.4.16 kernel?
This maybe early, but is there an ext3fs patch for the 2.4.16 kernel -- also, in general where does one download the lastest ext3fs patches?? I found the 2.4.14 patch a few weeks ago on in the linux.org UK site, but all the patches appear to be taken off that site...Any help would be most appreciated... Thanks, Chris --------------------------------------------------------------------

Tukey HSD (or other post hoc tests) following repeated measures ANOVA
Hi everyone, I am fairly new to R, and I am aware that others have had this problem before, but I have failed to solve the problem from previous replies I found in the archives. As this is such a standard procedure in psychological science, there must be an elegant solution to this...I think. I would much appreciate a solution that even I could understand... ;-) Now, I want to calculate a

R loop function in Tableau
Hi R helpers, I hope this email finds you well. I am having trouble with R loop function in Tableau. Please see the attachment of a simple dataset. The problem is to test whether the value of columns is match. Because Tableau do not have iteration function, I coded ?if statement? in Tableau to realize the function, which is slow if having huge amount of data. I wonder to integrate

No performance increase from dual-core processors?
Hey all, I was planning on getting a new computer for the new year to help with my dissertation research, and recently had an opportunity to compare the performance of my 1.6 GHz Pentium M laptop, and a 2.8 GHz dual-core Pentium processor (both running WinXP professional 32-bit). I run a lot of long simulations, so I was hoping to get something that would speed them up. I ran a few quick

TukeyHSD for repeated measures aov ?
Hi all, I search the archive for finding a simple solution for using TukeyHSD with a multistratum aov result (a repeated emasure anova). The Question have been asked but I've found no clear answer. res<-aov(y~Fa*Fb+Error(Subject/(Fa*Fb)) ) I think that the problem is that res is an aovlist object instead of the "aov" object required by TukeyHSD. Is there an easy solution to

Filesystem security stuff
Dear all, I am planning to add some cryptographic properties (file encryption and digital signature on file I/O) to Linux filesystem. In detail, I want that user can do file I/O with encrypted files like he used to do with usual file except some minor changes (e.g. supply key for decrypting file). For digital signature, all read and write acts on file of any user must be signed and recorded so

Best way to extract values from an aov object ?
I'm trying to write a function to automate doing a variance analysis, part of which involves doing some further calculations. The method I've been using isn't very robust, if variable names change then it stops working. For this dummy data > dput(assayvar,"") structure(list(Run = structure(c(1L, 1L, 1L, 2L, 2L, 2L, 3L, 3L, 3L, 4L, 4L, 4L), .rk.invalid.fields =

What are the return values of aov?
Hi, I don't quite understand what are the return values of aov. I know that it has 'coefficients'. But I need to know what all the other return values are. Can somebody let me know how to figure them? Value: An object of class 'c("aov", "lm")' or for multiple responses of class 'c("maov", "aov", "mlm",

summary(aov(...)) into a string?
It doesn't print anything: the summary.aov (or summary.aovlist) print method does. ?summary.aov tells you the structure of the objects they return. On Tue, 15 Feb 2005, RenE J.V. library(car) Anova() and Error-term in aov()
Dear all, Type III SS time again. This case trying to reproduce some SPSS (type III) data in R for a repeated measures anova with a betwSS factor included. As I understand this list etc, if I want type III then I can do library(car) Anova(lm.obj, type="III") But for the repeated measures anova, I need to include an Error-term in the aov() call (Psychology-guide from Jonathan Baron)

Regression test failed when building on an "older" Linux cluster
We have an aging Linux Cluster here, running Red Hat 7.3. We have some business reasons for not upgrading the OS version. I don't recall the exact hardware (dual Pentium III, 4 Gbyte RAM, 1 GHz clock?), but it was pretty good in 2001 or so. We recently tried to build and install R, ver 2.6.0, for this cluster. It built and apparently ran correctly, but it failed "make check".

-1 and friends
Yo All! Well I work on a diverse number of OS's with a diverse number of clients. Some use F-Secure, SecureCRT, PuTTY, SSH.COM. OpenSSH, etc. with a wide variety of versions between each, some from source, some from rpms, etc... Basically a lot of legacy stuff that no one has the time to update. In fact I am working on a couple of OpenSSH config problems in the last few days. Sometimes we

OpenSSH 3.0p1+AFS+PAM on Solaris 8
Seems like AFS support uses a structure in ioctl.h that requires sys/ioccom.h to be included beforehand. The following patch checks for this header file, and makes sure it is included. I don't have the latest auto* tools, so I hand-synthesized "configure"; hopefully this doesn't mask typo's in its sources. --- config.h.in.ORIG Sat Nov 3 19:25:33 2001 +++

5.1-R: zero byte core file.
While using 5.1-RELEASE, I find that if my application program seg faults, it produces "programname.core"; but it is 0 bytes. I ran the exact same program on another machine that was running 4.4-RELEASE, and I do get a core file that I can use with gdb. I'd really appreciate if someone could help me resolve this. Additional details: - It is not specific to the application

[PATCH] Tighten /etc/crontab permissions
Hi folks, While investigating OpenBSD's cron implementation, I found that they set the systemwide crontab (a.k.a. /etc/crontab) to be readable by the superuser only. The attached patch will bring this to FreeBSD by moving crontab out from BIN1 group and install it along with master.passwd. This change should not affect the current cron(1) behavior. Using package "exams" and xtable
Hello, I am trying to use the package "exams" to construct problem sets. I have constructed an exercise which generates a list of integers and asks the student to compute the median. rx is the vector of n numbers >str(rx) num [1:16] 21 9 8 18 4 12 17 2 9 7 ... How to look into the asterisked function?
Hi friends, there is methods() function to see the all available methods for a particular function, for example: > head(methods("print")) [1] "print.acf" "print.anova" "print.aov" "print.aovlist" "print.ar" "print.Arima" In this list, there are some functions which are asterisked like print.acf().

Reposting various problems with two-way anova, lme, etc.
Hi, I posted the message below last week, but no answers, so I'm giving it another attempt in case somebody who would be able to help might have missed it and it has now dropped off the end of the list of mails. I am fairly new to R and still trying to figure out how it all works, and I have run into a few issues. I apologize in advance if my questions are a bit basic, I'm also no
