How to pack my stuff into a package (library, collection)?
Hello, I am new useR, I have written some functions, which I currently use by "source"-ing them from the files. That's OK, but when I my functions start counting in the tens and hundreds I'd be glad to be able to type "help.search("my_obscure_fun")" and get a sensible reply. I also want to be able to load them as a package at startup and not have to

More elegant multiplication or division of a data frame with a vector
Hello, I am importing some raw voltage multichannel measurements into an R data frame. I need to scale each column with the respective sensitivity for that channel. I figured how to do it, but I am curious if there isn't a more elegant way. Now I start with something like this: rawdata <- data.frame(rbind(c(1,2,3), c(4,5,6))) sens <- c(2,4,6) and I do this: data <-

Combining several mappings in ggplot2
Hello, I want to be able to make a plot that has several series with different color and linetype. Online documentation suggest that this is possible, but I haven't found how: "We can also create redundant mappings, mapping the same variable to multiple aesthetics. This is most useful when producing a graphic for both colour and black and white display." Here's what I have to

Lattice : Single reference line/label at 0.05
r-friends-- I am trying to make a lattice plot with a single label at 0.05. A reference line at y=0.05 as well... This is what I have so far. The label reads 0.0 and there is a grid instead of a single reference line. Can someone help please? Troy x<-18:35 (pv<-1/(x-17)) xydf<-data.frame(x, pv) print(xyplot(pv~x, data=xydf, type=c('p', 'g'), ylim=c(0,1),

How to split a factor (unique identifier) into several others?
Hello, I have a data frame with a factor column, which uniquely identifies the observations in the data frame and it looks like this: sample1_condition1_place1 sample2_condition1_place1 sample3_condition1_place1 . . . sample3_condition3_place3 I want to turn it into three separate factor columns "sample", "condition" and "place". This is what I did so far: #

Plotting series marked with a symbol on every nth data point, preferably in ggplot...
Hello! I am working with signals and a plot of several signals on the same axes can get quite messy. With lines that are very fractured, distinction by only the linestyle is not very clear. If I add symbols to the plot however, there are so many symbols, that they overplot and the whole plot is unreadable once again. I am looking for advice on how to make a plot with continuous lines and symbols

Bode plots in ggplot2
Hello, I am trying to figure out how to make a bode plot (a.k.a. bode diagram) in ggplot2. An example of such a diagram can be found here: http://meweb.ecn.purdue.edu/~me475/ctm/freq/bode2.GIF The example above shows the gain and phase characteristic of a linear system. In my case, I would like to compare visually several systems on the same diagram. The data in the data frame is arranged

Moving data between R and Matlab back and forth?
Hi to the list, I am trying to find a way to painlessly move structured data back and forth between R and Matlab (also Octave). For this purpose I found the R.matlab package great help. I wish to use a Matlab -v6 MAT file as an intermediary format, because it is well read by both Matlab and Octave. It is also well read by 'readMat' function in R.matlab package, but that is where I run

How to assign multiple return values
Hi, I am moving from MATLAB, where one can easily assign a number of output values from a function like this: [x,y] = myfun(a,b) Then variables x and y can be directly used in the caller workspace. I understand that R functions return a single argument, which could be a list. This in a way makes it possible to return multiple values with a single function call, but accessing the list variables

Italicized greek symbols in PDF plots
I know that this has been asked before in other variations but I just can't seem to figure out my particular application from previous posts. My apologies if I have missed the answer to this question somewhere in the archives. I have indeed looked. I am running Ubuntu 11.04, with R 2.12.1 and ESS+Emacs. For journal formatting requirements, I need to italicize all the greek letters in any

[RFC][LLVM] New Constant type for representing function PLT entries
Hi all, We would like to propose a new Constant type in LLVM for representing entries in the Procedure Linkage Table (PLT). The PLT is a data structure used for dispatching position-independent function calls to appropriate functions where the address of the function is not known statically. Right now, if a call is made to a function, it may be lowered to a direct call to the function itself or

axis() after image.plot() does not work except if points() is inserted between
Thanks... I agree that the problem was explained in the documentation but I can't find a way to have axis() working even manipulating par("plt") or with graphics.reset = TRUE: - adding graphics.reset=TRUE does not allow axis() to be shown; - I see that par()$plt is involved but it is the not sufficient to explain why axis() works because if it is changed by hand, axes are not

ggplot2 geom_hline error
Hello R-List I've run into a minor problem with ggplot2. In particular, I get an error message when trying to plot a horizonal line through zero. Here is what I do: plt.df <- subset(xfm.df, select=c(stage, subj, tX)) plt <- ggplot(pp.df, aes(x=stage, y=tX, group=subj)) + geom_line() plt plt <- plt + geom_hline(intercept=0) plt The first plot yields a most lovely graph.

Emitting a local alias
Hi, I wanted to see if there was a way in IR to emit a local alias such that I would get: ``` .type _ZTVSt13bad_exception, at object # @_ZTVSt13bad_exception .globl _ZTVSt13bad_exception _ZTVSt13bad_exception: *.L_ZTVSt13bad_exception:* .long 0 # 0x0 .long (_ZTISt13bad_exception.rtti_proxy-.L_ZTVSt13bad_exception)-8 .long

[RFC][LLVM] New Constant type for representing function PLT entries
I do have concerns about the amount of object level modeling that we want to do in the IR though. While it isn't the highest level IR we've managed to mostly avoid these kinds of features/complications in the past. I'm definitely interested in hearing some alternate implementations here and there rather than a full set of constants for relocations. Keeping the IR abstract enough over

[LLVMdev] MC JIT on ARM can't generate valid code for external functions call
Hello. We found the following problem with MC JIT, on ARM it can't generate valid code for instruction "bl <external_function>" like: bl printf Because the ELF file in memory generated by MC JIT does not have the .plt section, but we need to have the following code to be emitted in it: .plt:00008290 STR LR, [SP,#-4]! .plt:00008294

How do I plot geoms in parallel in ggplot
Hello, I am new to ggplot. Please forgive my ignorance! I have patient data such that each individual is a row and then the attributes are in columns. So for example: Subj Time Height Weight WBC Plt 1 1 9 4 4 150 1 2 10 5 6 200 1 3 11 6 5 250 1 4

I’m going to see if I can summarize the concerns and ideas people have (for my own clarity) and see where we can go on from there. Folks seem to be on board with the idea of introducing some new IR entity that (after linking) *could* be a reference into the PLT, but some
