GLMMpql: reporting on main effects
Dear R users I am using GLMMpql to analyse some nested negative binomial response data. How do I summarise the significance of my main effects? For example, in a standard linear mixed model (lme), I would use anova.lme to obtain an F statistic and P value for each of my main effects: how do I achieve a similar goal using GLMMpql? many thanks Sarah Richardson Sarah Richardson Plant

Compare parameter estimates of a nlsList object
Hello together, Is there a tool to test the statistical differences between parameter estimates of a nlsList fit? I fitted degradation data using the nlsList method and want to find out whether derived rate constants are significantly different from each other at the grouping factors soil and temperature. Memory getting eaten up with XML
Hi all. I have an issue that I cannot resolve. I am trying to read in lots of data that are stored in xml files. But after I read them in and copy the relevant data, then remove the document etc, it doesn't free up the memory. When I monitor it in windows task manager the memory usage just climbs with each iteration until R crashes. I can replicate the problem with the small example:

Specify CRAN repository from command line
Hi, It feels like I should be able to do something like: R CMD INSTALL lib='/usr/lib64/R/library' repos='http://proxy.url/cran' package We have a bunch of servers (compute nodes in a Rocks cluster) in an isolated subnet, there is a basic pass-through proxy set up on the firewall (the head node) which just passes HTTP requests through to our nearest CRAN mirror. when using

bug in extractAIC.survreg (PR#6910)
Full_Name: Dave Ramsey Version: 1.8.0 OS: win2000 Submission from: (NULL) (202.27.240.6) there is a bug in extractAIC.survreg in library MASS. A survreg model object has no component called "residuals". Hence n <- length(fit$residuals) returns 0 resulting in errors workaround: replace n <- length(fit$residuals) with n <- length(residuals(fit)) ### sorry: error

functions and getting them into R
Dear All, I am new to R and can see it is a very powerful and versatile system for programming and statistical analysis. Say I have written a simple function and want to use it on a regular basis. I have the file as a text file say 'c:\R-funcs\func.txt' how do I get R to find it on the hard disc or alternatively where is the default location for looking up functions where I can place

Need some help with a new SNAT/DNAT/NAT + DMZ + Xen Host/Guest config.
Hi. I''m migrating to shorewall(6) mgmt of my various firewalls. Simple configs have been easy with the great docs. I''ve got a slightly more convoluted config, and have gotten ''lost'' in config''ing a SNAT/DNAT/NAT + DMZ + Xen Host/Guest set up with Static IP/29. Having some challenges wrapping my head around the ''best'' Shorewall

Problem uploading printer drivers
I'm running samba 2.2.2-6 on a redhat 7.2 box running 2.4.9-7 kernel... I'm trying to upload printer drivers from a Windows 2000 client. I've followed the instructions in the samba howto collection. I've created the print$ share, created the printer directory and subdirs, and made sure they are writeable by me. I put myself in the write list and the printer admin list.

Extracting the dimnames of an array with variable dimensions
Hi list, In a function I am writing, I need to extract the dimension names of an array. I know this can be acheived easily using dimnames() but my problem is that I want my function to be robust when the number of dimensions varies. Consider the following case: foo <- array(data = rnorm(32), dim = c(4,4,2), dimnames=list(letters[1:4], LETTERS[1:4], letters[5:6])) # What I want is to extract

Repeated measures by lme and aov give different results
I am analyzing data from an experiment with two factors: Carbon (+/-) and O3 (+/-), with 4 replicates of each treatment, and 4 harvests over a year. The treatments are assigned in a block design to individual Rings. I have approaches this as a repeated measures design. Fixed factors are Carbon, O3 and Harvest, with Ring assigned as a random variable. I have performed repeated measures analysis
