Excel Trend Function
Hi:
I have a dataset and need to interpolate for missing days. In Excel I either average from sampled days from above and below the missing days or use the TREND function to make up for the missing values. I have been reading about na.approx, is this function similar to the TREND function? Which is the best recommendable way to make up for missing data?
Here's my dataset: weeks 17,18,26 and 46

cbind and mean by week
Hi:
I have been able to finally crunch my data by
importing it by week(thank you all for your help),but
here we go again..
Now I'am trying to do it for the the whole year.
Since the
dataset is huge I'm only making a 3 weeks dataframe.
- I want to get the mean of pd by week
- I want to count the number of days by week and bind
it to the existing dataframe(x)
- I want to remove the

save to file
Hi,
What's the equivalent of "Save to File" from the R console File menu on an R routine? Just trying
to capture the whole R console into a text file when my code fails.

finding max value in a row and reporting colum name
Hi,
Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction on how I would go
about solving the following.
I have some data and need to find the column name of the maximum value in
each row.
This could be the data...
> a <- data.frame(x = rnorm(4), y = rnorm(4), z = rnorm(4))
> a
x y z
1 1.6534561 0.11523404 0.2261730
2 -1.2274320 -0.24096054 1.5096028

summing up colum values for unique IDs when multiple ID's exist in data frame
I have data.frame's with IDs and multiple columns. B/c some of IDs showed up
more than once, I need sum up colum values to creat a new dataframe with
unique ids.
I hope there are some cheaper ways of doing it... Because the dataframe is
huge, it takes almost an hour to do the task. Thanks so much in advance!

another question on shapefiles and geom_point in ggplot2
Manuel:
I changed your variable names from x to 'long' and y to 'lat' on the
riqueza_out.csv file.
The code below should do what you want. Also, since the legend title is kind of
long, I broke it
down into three lines so you can see more plot area. I am cc'ing the other
groups so more people
use it if needed.

seq()
HI:
Could someone help me with the seq function? I have a range of values starting from 1 to 52 but I want seq to start at 27 by=2, but when it reaches 51 start with with number 1 to 25. is this possible. I can do the basics of seq() but I can't figure how to do this one. This is how I want my sequence to look like:
27 29 31 33 35 37 ............51 1 3 5 7 9 11 13 ...........25

Sweave-LaTEX question
Hi:
I am working on a publication and I have heard about LaTEX but I haven't actually tried to learn about it until today. I've found a few examples but I can't actually make them work properly. I have a couple of questions:
Does LATEX have to be installed on your computer? How does the xtable package and Sweave work together? How can I make the code below create a table as pdf file?

But I don't want to hardcode the year because it will be used again the
following year

detect if data is normal or skewed (without a boxplot)
Hello all:
Is there a way to detect in R if a dataset is normally distributed or skewed without graphically seeing it? The reason I want to be able to do this is because I have developed and application with Visual Basic where Word,Access and Excel "talk" to each other and I want to integrate R to this application to estimate confidence intervals on fish sizes (mm). I basically want to

I am using Sweave and texi2dvi to generate a LaTeX document but
can't find the way to hide the graphics while the R chunks are being

aftreg vs survreg loglogistic aft model (different intercept term)
Hi, I'm estimating a loglogistic aft (accelerated failure time) model, just a
simple plain vanilla one (without time dependent covariates), I'm comparing
the results that I obtain between aftreg (eha package) and survreg(surv
package). If I don't use any covariate the results are identical , if I add
covariates all the coefficients are the same until a precision of 10^4 or
10^-5 except
