Javascript/AJAX Debugging
Hello !
I''m trying to implement something similar to the "multiple updates" section
of the Web2.0 chapter of the Agile book.
I implemented my version, and nothing is happening. No javascript errors,
my logs look fine, page is rendered fine... just no Effect.Highlight. Here
is the code:

Expanding javascript before sending it
Hi,
I had a simple javascript function directly in the rhtml with a rails
helper in it.
Before the page was sent to the client the rails help was of course expanded.
Moving it into a separated .js file, the rails code is, once again of
course, no more expanded.
function save(id) {
var el = document.getElementById(''s''+id);
el.src = "<%=

nested forms: use validate :some_method works in update mode only
I have a strange behavior when validating a record in a nested form. The
association collection is empty when creating a new record and the
validation does not catch the error. But when updating the same record the
validation gets it right but continues to catch the error even after
modifying the needed attribute value to make it pass.
Here is the model:

My associations are coming out nil.
I''ve got a fairly simple system with a table for my Users that
includes a CountryId field which looks up to the CountryId field of my
Country table. What I would like to happen is for my Rails
application, which contains models for both User and Country, to be
able to draw the dropdown list of available countries on the edit
page, like it does in all the tutorials.

RE: how to evaluate responseText as an array?
getSelectedGridData()[getSelectedRow()] = eval(response.responseText);
I believe that will work.

Ajax Help: Multiple Updates - ?
Hi!
Wondering if anyone can tell me what''s wrong with my code?
I''m trying to use the onChange event of a select list to update multiple
divs...
Agile Web Development with Rails (p. 403) suggests using ":complete =>
eval(request.responseText) instead of :update"
I''ve attempted the following test code:

Make link_to_remote call redirect current view, not read redirected content
Hello everyone !
I have a link_to_remote which creates a Party from a ContactRequest.
The action on the server creates the party, marks the contact request
as processed, and then returns a redirect. According to my knowledge
of HTTP, that is the correct thing to do.
Unfortunately, Prototype is being too clever for me at this time...
It follows the redirect, without notifying me. Anybody has

Basic AJAX Response (Mootools)
Hi,
I''ve done AJAX calls to Rails'' Controllers before yet never required to
generate a response back to the view. In this respect, I have tried to
keep it moronically simple and just add a node to see that it works, yet
the response doesn''t come through / isn''t interpreted as it should. Long
story short, code :

[Prototype] onSuccess Event and Ajax.Updater bug in IE
Hi all,
Is there a known bug with Ajax.Updater not working in
IE6? I''m having
trouble with a Autocompleter control that calls a
function that contains
an Ajax.Updater as an AfterUpdateElement callback. It
works fine in
firefox, but I don''t think Ajax.Updater gets called
under IE.

dispatch.cgi Problem

I''ve been battling with ruby configurations for days now...trying to get
either SCGI or FCGI to work on my Apache 1.3/Linux Red Hat 3 server.
I''ve pretty much gave up that battle since either of them will work with
me after trying dozens of configurations, but now even when I try to run
apps with dispatch.cgi I get this error in my log: "Premature end of
