3D scatter, groups, RdbiPgSQL...
hello, I wish to create some 3d scatter diagrams visualising different grouped data set by a given field in the database. I tried the scatterplot3d package, as well as the plot3d and scatter3d functions (both within the rgl resp. Rcmdr package). My first question is, whether is it possibe to group data in the scatterplot3d and plot3d, because I did not succeed to use the groups = ...

Rainbow Colored Scatter Plot
Hello, I have created a 3d scatter plot using the plot3d command in the rgl package. I have approximately 6500 data points in the scatter plot. I would like to color these points sequentially using the entire color spectrum. (So the first point is red, next point slightly different, and each point gradually changes so that the final point is violet.) Is anyone familiar with how this can be done?

3d plots of mca() results?
Greetings. I'm about to embark on my first big (to me at least!) R project, which will be to write a function to plot three-dimensional multiple correspondence analysis (mca) plots in a manner similar to scatterplot3d(). (plot.mca() plots only two dimensions, even though mca() will calculate more.) Before I do so, however, I would love to know that I'm not reinventing the wheel or any

3D plots with data.frame
Dear all, Thank you for any help. I have a data.frame and would like to plot it in 3D. I have tried wireframe() and cloud(), I got scatterplot3d(xs) Error: could not find function "scatterplot3d" > wireframe(xs) Error in wireframe(xs) : no applicable method for "wireframe" > persp(x=x, y=y, z=xs) Error in persp.default(x = x, y = y, z = xs) : (list)

'Dynamic' 3D plot
Hi, I am looking for a R package to draw 3d plot. But not in a static way like scatterplot3d or stuff like that. I would like to make rotate the plot, to zoom/unzoom etc..., actually to render the graph 'dynamic'... (for the biologist and bioinformatician, a R package which permitts to reproduce what pdb viewer does). Does a Way exist to do something like that in R ? Thanks,

Using 'polygon' in a 3d plot
I'm new to R, after many years of using Matlab. I've found the R function 'polygon' to be nearly equivalent to the Matlab function 'patch'. For example, the R commands: plot(c(0, 5), c(0, 4), type = 'n', asp = 1, ann = FALSE) x <- c(1, 2, 2, 1.5, 1) z <- c(1, 1, 2, 1.7, 2) polygon(x, z, col = 'green') produce a plot with a small green shape exactly

drawing a specific "plane" with scatterplot3d
Dear All,   using the example from the package scatterplot3d I created a 3d plot as follows:   x <-rnorm(500,50,2) y <-rnorm(500,5,1) z <-rnorm(500,6,1) scatterplot3d(x, y, z, highlight.3d=TRUE, col.axis="blue",col.grid="lightblue", main="scatterplot3d - 1", pch=20)   I would like to ask if anyone could help me with the following:   1. I would like to draw  a

What is the best way to plots surfaces in 3 dimensions?
Hi R help, What is the best way to plots surfaces in 3 dimensions? I also have the following availability problem with "plot3d" and "scatterplot3d", and "wireframe": install.packages("scatterplot3d") Warning: unable to access index for repository http://cran.ch.r-project.org/bin/macosx/leopard/contrib/2.10 Warning message: In getDependencies(pkgs,

3D plot, rotatable and with adjustable symbols
Hi all, I've tried to make a 3D plot, but have run into some problems. I'd like to have a plot that I can rotate interactively using the mouse, which is possible using the plots3d {R.basic}. However, I would like to change the symbols used as the points, but there's no pch in plot3d(). If I use the Scatterplot3d package, I'm able to change this, but not able to rotate

3D scatter plot with projections
I want to create some 3D scatter plot with a diagonal line. In addition, I'd like to have those points plus the diagonal line projected to those three planes (xy, yz and xz). Which package can I use to achieve this, scatterplot3d or something else? Thanks, Gang [[alternative HTML version deleted]]

3D plot not working as desired!
Hello R-users! I am trying to plot 3 vectors (x,y,z) of observations generated by mvrnorm in library(MASS). I tried plot3d in library(djmrgl) and scatterplot3d. But these program gives x,y,z axis which do not intersect at the origin (0,0,0). I searched through all the graphics related packages for R like xgobi, ggobi, grid and more. Quite confusing which one to choose. Would anyone recommend

Plotting separate populations in scatterplot3d
Hi, I'm having trouble plotting populations as separate colors and points in the 3d scatterplot package. I have a column with 4 different population names and 3 columns with my data. I want to plot each population with a different color and pch. In addition, I want to use the type="h" in my plotting so that I can see the points clearly in my graph( for publication purposes).

3D Scatter Plot
Hello: I would like to be able to do a 3D scatter plot from 3 variables, 2 independent and 1 dependent. The closest R function I could find for this is "cloud". However cloud uses, as input, a matrix where the value of each matrix element is the dependent variable value at that matrix coordinate. My problem is that the independent variable values are floating point and can be of

Labelling individual points on 3D PCA scatterplot
Hi There, I'm attempting to plot 10 values on a three-dimensional PCA with text labels next to each point. While i have no trouble doing this on 2D plots using the 'text' or 'textxy' function, I cannot find a function to do this on a 3D plot. I am using princomp for my PCA: >PCA<-princomp(eucdata, cor=TRUE) >PCA$scores [,1:3] # the three principal components i

plot 3D
Is it possible to do a graphic in 3D? This is my source: but this one is on 2D and at moment variables put on other variables, so it is difiicult to differentiate them visibly. plot(corresp(data,nf=2),xlim=c(-1,1),ylim=c(-1,1)); Thanks Sabine --------------------------------- ils, photos et vidéos ! Axis Location/Data view in scatterplot3d
All, I constructed a fairly simple plot using the below and scatterplot3d. However, the axis locations in scatterplot3d seem to 'hide' quite a bit of the points in my graphic based on the viewing angle, hence not adhering to Tufte's rules. I tried to determine if I could rotate the graph and relocate all three axis (origin (0, 0, 0))so they would be at the back left so the

scatterplot3d with categorical data
Dear users, I'm trying to produce a 3d bar plot but the x and y dimensions have categorical data -- so I only want 3 points on each axis. So I try: require(scatterplot3d) mymat<-data.frame( x=c(1,1,1,2,2,2,3,3,3), y=c(1,2,3,1,2,3,1,2,3), z=c(1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9)) scatterplot3d(mymat, type="h", lwd=5, pch=" ", xlab="xlabel",

3dscatter for linux
Hi, do you have any suggestions how to make 3D scatterplot, BUT under linux. Worth mentioning is the fact that 'scatterplot3d' does not load under Ubuntu 8.10. Do you know any alternatives?? I tried cloud or persp but X,Y and Z axes are emprical in my case, and cannot be replaced by any seq(...). Thanks in advance, robert -- View this message in context:
