Plurals and synonym lists
I want to correct spelling errors automatically. I have used search in the past where I can pass an argument through standard search to correct a word with up to 2 spelling errors for example or do the more Google like "Did ya mean?". In this case I just want to change it automatically and search. I am not too interested in specifying the number of characters it is out by. What is

New to Linux (Xubuntu) - Install Oxford Thesaurus + Dict?
Hello all, I am a brand new user of Xubuntu. Please assume I know nothing worthwhile about how to do anything with Wine or Xubuntu - I am a rookie. With the help of various forums - I've been able to do quite a bit so far - but only with their good directions, or I'd be lost. I've read your pages and see that some versions of Oxford's dictionary and thesaurus have run on older

Policy routing question
Hi, I have a testing multihome setup, with the default gateway being one of the links and using policy routing to honor requests for a specific link. Everything works as expected when I request a specific IP to bind to. But if I request a specific interface things fall apart in ways that I can not explain: default gw (WORKS) ---------- rabbit@Thesaurus:~$ ping -c 1 yahoo.com PING yahoo.com

Anyone know a forum for stats advice?
Hi, I know this forum is for R-related issues, but the question I have is a statistical question & I was wondering if anyone could recommend a good statistics forum where I can ask the question? My question is relating to bootstrapping of binary data (ecology data) - I can give more detail, but wasn't sure I could address the question here as it is more statistical based than R based

Blistit - on web in Beta
I would like to thank everyone who has been of great assistance on this project using ROR, AJAX and most importantly Ferret. I would especially like to thank David and Jens for their help. Quite frankly this project would not have got to this stage without your help and we at Blistit appreciate it! I saw your post David with regards to putting food on the table and when we are able to put

Openvpn routing problem
Hi, I posted this question yesterday on the Openvpn mailing list, with no response, figured I will ask here too. I have been using openvpn for quite a while, no major problems encountered. Now I need to allow the server to access the lan of the client, and I can not figure out the routing. This is what I have after the tunnel is brought up: SERVER (A.A.A.A) Arx:~# ip addr ... 3: eth1:

PCA - scores
I am running a PCA, but would like to rotate my data and limit the number of factors that are analyzed. I can do this using the "principal" command from the psych package [principal(my.data, nfactors=3,rotate="varimax")], but the issue is that this does not report scores for the Principal Components the way "princomp" does. My question is: Can you get an

Functions with the same name: best practices
Ok, here's another best practices question - let's say I'm writing a package and I want to use a function name that is already claimed by a function in the base R packages. For the sake of argument, let's pretend this function is for profiling the performance of a function (like Rprof for example), and so an obvious name that comes to mind is profile. This, of course, clashes

Circular variables within a GLM, GLM-GEE or GAM
Hi, I have a variable (current speed direction) which is circular (0=360 degrees), and I'd like my GLM to include the variable as a circular variable. Can I do this? And what is the code? I'm actually doing a GLM-GEE using the 'geepack' package, so want to use it in that, but also interested in whether it can also be used in GLMs and GAMs (I use the 'mgcv' package for

Range searches some times they work, some times not...
Hi i''m using ferret to enable geographical postcode. I take a postcode and distance in miles from the user, strip off the outcode and then retrieve the associated x y coordinates in metres from the db. Then i get two temp x''s and y''s and search for all results that are within the box, see code below. Problems start to occur when i search on big distances so for

Good Evening: We've been using SysLinux in our admin class in college as part of a KickStart package designed to overcome multiple-use constraints in our computer lab (just pop the floppy in and suck the OS out of the server...). I have attempted to find out about the LSS16 file format you mentioned as part of your discussion of the DISPLAY format. We'd just love to use a cute

k-means with euclidian distance but no coordinates
Hi, I'm trying to build a thesaurus that will sensible values for rare words. I suspect the best algorithm to use is k-means although I'm not sure about that -- I would have preferred a k dimensional space with a binary cluster in each dimension so a word can belong to 0..k clusters, but I digress... I can measure the strength of correlation between words fairly easily by counting

Autocomplete for phrases
Hi all. We are trying to use Xapian to index the titles of around ten million documents (music catalogue) and then do auto-complete style search on this index. After poking around we can't quite get the combination of QueryParser flags and search query that will give back the results we want. The closest we have can take a very long time (because it is searching for, and building a list of,

Xapian document matching
Hi, i'm wondering is there a possibility to do like ABCSok do (http://nyheter.abcsok.no/), to make "Main article" and "Same articles" collapsed to it. Like on http://news.google.com/?hl=en the same thing. "Parent" and "same article on other sites" (they do differ from each other a little bit). Maybe somebody know how to do that thing or where to read
