Resource Bundle Roundup
I''ve recently made a first release of what I''m calling
"bundled_resource" which is a plugin that makes our lives *much*
easier when we need to use javascripts, stylesheets and images in
conjunction with one another to deliver a special effect or tool on
the client (browser) side. If you missed the release, read about it

Calendar date picker for use with rails.
Howdy folks,
As I was putting together a rough form for a rails app, I got to
thinking how much smoother (in my siytuation) a little calendar widget
would be than the default date picker selects.
Does anyone know if such a thing exists ?
I suspect it would have to be somewhat designed with rails in mind to
populate the right kind of post params for convenient use at the
controller end.

discard_year => true
Hi All
I''m attempting to make a simple time select field so I thought I just
needed a datetime_select with the option :discard_year => true.
However, every ''discard'' option except discard_year seems to work. So
I''m left with a year, hour and minute to select.
Could anyone please point me in the right direction?
Much appreciated.

Bundled resource -- something I''m missing
I have a decoupled form embedded in my pages ? a search box that has date
fields ? and of course the search fields are not in my model. However,
picking dates is a great use for the Dynarch calendar. It seems that by
using the syntax:
<%= render :partial => ?filter_box? %>
In my view and...
<%= dynarch_date_select ''filter_box'', ''begin_date'' %>

Recommendations please for plugin(s)
For my application I''m going to be in need of a
1-small calendar (pop up kind) where a user would click on a month/date and
it would be sent back to the form action.
2-also some kind of textarea / htmlarea plugin
I''ve perused around the plugin directory and possible found a calendar. I
think dynarch is the name and included in a suite.
As for the htmlarea I think there was a

ColumnComments Plugin
Here?s a small plugin that may be useful for documenting your
database. Based on Dave Thomas?s AnnotateModels plugin, this plugin
goes one step further and allows you to store comments on each column
in the database (MySQL only).

Calender Script?
I have been trying to get one of the calender javascripts to work with
the <%= form.text_field. So when the user pick the date it updates the
time fields? (like in normal reservation system where you pick up the
date and time from the calender and when user pick the selection it
updates the field) but I could not get this to work.
Does anyone have got something similar to work? or could

What are people using for date fields
I''m just curious about what techniques others have successfully used to
capture date data on forms as an alternative to the standard date_select. I
have to admit I''ve been lazy and only used the date_select as we have very
few dates in our system now, but that is about to change. I would like
something better.
Any thoughts?

How to Affect Plugin Load Order
I''m using bundled_resource, login_engine, and a few other plugins. It
appears Rails considers plugins in alphabetic order. Turns out that
there is a particular order that will work and alphabetic ain''t it.
The login engine must be loaded first. Bundled resource then includes
''application_helper'' and the application helper includes LoginEngine. If

The backtracer has been around for a while now, and seems to have

Help with Non-model classes
Hey guys,
I''ve been trying to teach myself Rails by building a relatively
complex app for work. I''ve started it twice and now I''m thinking
about restarting it a third time. I need some help with some of my
code.
I''m creating an app to help us manage time. We have a number of
developers on a number of teams who are assigned to any number of

How might I use file_column for incoming email attachments?
I''m writing a ''Mailman'' model that catches emails sent to my
application (kind of like backpack, I think). The trouble is that
I''d like to save image attachments in the same was that file_column
saves them--in fact, I''d really like to use a simple assignment like
photo.image = attachment to save the image in its proper place.
However,

MASC = A New Way to Use Textmate Snippets
Just thought I''d announce this on the Rails list since I know several
of you use Textmate: there''s a new feature I''m calling "Multiple
Arbitrary Simultaneous Carets" or MASC for short, which is available
in my personal TM bundle. It''s been handy enough for me that I
thought others might enjoy it.

How about a forked session supervisor in dispatch.fcgi?
I was talking to a friend of mine who''s developing PHP on trax and we
came up with a solution to the ruby session file problem. I''m not
sure if this idea has come up before, so I wanted to run it by
everyone before making any code contributations and/or talking to the
Rails core about it.
It seems to me that the current situation we''re in with regard to
