reshape question
I know there are a lot of reshape questions on the mailing list, but I
haven't been able to find an answer to this particular issue.
I am trying to get a datafame structured like this:
> sub <- rep(1:5)
> ta1 <- rep(1,5)
> ta2 <- rep(2,5)
> tb1<- rep(3,5)
> tb2 <- rep(4,5)
> DF <- data.frame(sub,ta1,ta2,tb1,tb2)
> DF
sub ta1 ta2 tb1 tb2

tklistbox selection
Hi,
I'm posting yet another question about tcltk since I'm still struggling
with the package. I'm trying to create a tklistbox and a ttkcombobox on
the same parent and am having a problem. Here's an example:
library(tcltk)
tt <- tktoplevel()
tcl1 <- tclVar()
tcl2 <- tclVar()
tclObj(tcl1) <- letters[1:5]
tclObj(tcl2) <- LETTERS[1]
tb1 <- tklistbox(tt,

Problem with intersection between two different tables
Hi,
I'm a beginner with R.
I have two different tables with
the variable name dmr1 and tp2 a given following. v1 is the common column field of
the both tables. In the first table column v3 is always v2+1 while in
the second table v2 and v3 hold the range. I want to know which rows
of tb1 intersect with the range between v2 and v3 of tb3. I need some one's kind help to solve this

how can I convert a long to wide matrix?
Hi R user,
I was trying to convert a long matrix to wide? I have an example and would
like to get a table (FinalData1):

id_Y "A" "B"
but I got the following table using the following code.

SELinux labels change in libvirt
Hello all,
tl;dr, can you point me to the point in the libvirt repo where it's trying
to change a tap-device's SELinux label?
I am trying to create a tap device with libvirt on a
super-privileged container, and then use it on another,
unprivileged container with libvirt.
User wise, I know I need the super-privileged container to open the tap
device with the user of the unprivileged one -

Where is the signing key for rsync?
Hello all and congrats on Rsync 3.0.0!
Where is the signing key for rsync? I am trying to verify the signature:
http://rsync.samba.org/ftp/rsync/src/rsync-3.0.0.tar.gz.asc.
I have searched the FAQ, the web site, and the ftp site for the answer to this question to no avail, and unfortunately the mailing list web interface doesn't
seem to have a search facility either. :(
I even tried to

how can I convert a long to wide matrix?
Hi Marna,
Try this:
library(prettyR)
stretch_df(dat,idvar="ID",to.stretch=c("EventDate","SITE"))

how can I convert a long to wide matrix?
Hi Jim,
Thank you very much for your suggestions. I used it but it gave me three
sites. But actually I do have only two sites "Id_X" and "Id_y" . In fact
"A" is repeated two times for "Id_X". If it is repeated, I would like to
take the first one among many repeated values.
dat<-structure(list(ID = structure(c(1L, 1L, 1L, 2L, 2L), .Label =

post-hoc test with kruskal.test()
Dear R users,
I would like to know if there is a way in R to execute a post-hoc test
(factor levels comparison, like Tukey for ANOVA) of a non-parametric
analysis of variance with kruskal.test() function. I am comparing three
different groups. The preliminary analysis using the kruskal-wallis-test
show significance, but I still don''t know the relationship and the
significance level

logistic regression - glm() - example in Dalgaard's book ISwR
Dear R-list members,
I would like to pose a question about the use and results
of the glm() function for logistic regression calculations.
The question is based on an example provided on p. 229
in P. Dalgaard, Introductory Statistics with R, 2nd. edition,
Springer, 2008. By means of this example, I was trying to
practice the different ways of entering data in glm().
In his book, Dalgaard

FWER + multiple linear models
Could someone kindly help me with the following question:
when I analyze microarray data I need to fit multiple linear regression
models between genes and clinical patameters followed by estimation of
the p-values.
What's the solution to implement Westfall and Young's algorithm +
resampling into the scheme:
lm -> stepAIC -> anova.
Actually permcor works fine for me in the case of

Weibull survival regression
Dear R users,
Please can you help me with a relatively straightforward problem that I
am struggling with? I am simply trying to plot a baseline survivor and
hazard function for a simple data set of lung cancer survival where
`futime' is follow up time in months and status is 1=dead and 0=alive.
Using the survival package:

how can I convert a long to wide matrix?
Hi Marna,
I think this is due to having three rows for id_X and only two for
id_Y. The function creates a data frame with enough columns to hold
the greatest number of values for each ID variable. Notice that the
SITE_n columns contain three values for id_X (A, A, B) and two for
id_Y (A, B, NA) as there was no third occasion of measurement for the
latter. Even though there are only two _values_

Function with large nested list
Hello list,
I want to make a large rulebased algorithm, to provide decision support for drug prescriptions. I have defined the algorithm in a function, with a for loop and many if statements. The structure should be as follows:
1. Iterate over a list of drug names. For each drug:
2. Get some drug related data (external dataset). Row of a dataframe.
3. Check if adaptions should be made to

Cross-tabulations next to each other
I have the following relatively simple problem. Say we have three
factors, and we want to create a cross-tabulation against each of the
other two:
x <- factor(rbinom(5, 1, 1/2))
y <- factor(rbinom(5, 1, 1/2))
z <- factor(rbinom(5, 1, 1/2))
table(x,y)
table(x,z)
This looks like:
y
x 0 1
0 2 0
1 1 2
z
x 0 1
0 1 1
1 2 1
I would like to get (surely this will
