The file stores x and y coordinates in the UTM projected coordinate system, yet when I use image to graphically display the z variable, the image is distorted in the sense that it does not plot the map in the correct spatial organization. I'm wondering if I need to define the projection of the netCDF file

Hi List, While using 'nlme' function, I have encountered the similar problem Dr. Stevens and Dr. Graves observed (please see the posts: https://stat.ethz.ch/pipermail/r-help/2006-May/105832.html ).
