Coord_equal in ggplot2
Dear all, I'm plotting some points on a graph where both axes need to have the same scale. See the example below. Coord_equal does that trick but in this case it wastes a lot of space on the y-axis. Setting the limits of the y-axis myself was no avail. Any suggestions to solve this problem? library(ggplot2) ds <- data.frame(x = runif(1000, min = 0, max = 300000), y = runif(1000, min =

Plotting from different data sources on the same plot (with ggplot2)
Hello everyone (and Hadley in particular), I often need to plot data from multiple datasets on the same graph. A common example is when mapping some values: I want to plot the underlying map and then add the points. I currently do it with base graphics, by recording the maximum region in which my map+point will fit, plotting both with these xlim and ylim parameters, adding par (new=T)

ggplot and xlim/ylim
Hello everyone, I am (happily) using ggplot2 for all my plotting now and I wondered is there is an easy way to specify xlim and ylim somewhere when using the ggplot syntax, as opposed to the qplot syntax. Eg. qplot(data=mtcars,y=wt, x=qsec,xlim=c(0,30)) <-> ggplot(mtcars, aes(y=wt, x=qsec)) + geom_point() + ??? Indeed the ggplot syntax is in general more flexible and powerful and

bug in qplot (library ggplot2)
Hello, this following code give a nice png: /library(ggplot2) i <- 1 png(file=paste('test ',i,'.png',sep='')) qplot(carat, data=diamonds, fill=color,geom='histogram')+scale_y_continuous(i) dev.off() / I would like to get more files, but the following code doesn't make any file: /library(ggplot2) for (i in 1:2) { png(file=paste('test

ggplot2 - facetting
Dear All, After having overcome the issue of legends (thanks, Thierry, once more), I am trying to use facetting, but here also I can not find how to do this. I do not want to use qplot, but rather the more flexible options. However, it seems I am doing still something pretty stupid, because I always get an error, even if it seems I am doing everything like the examples. My code is below.

ggplot2 : bug in coord_equal() ?
Hello, I think there is a bug in coord_equal when x s a factor : ggplot(diamonds, aes(clarity, fill=cut)) + geom_bar() ggplot(diamonds, aes(clarity, fill=cut)) + geom_bar() + coord_equal(1/2) David

ggplot2: changing axis labels in ggplot()
Hi all, For various reasons, I need to use ggplot instead of qplot for a complex figure. Everything is working fine, except I cannot figure out how to rename the axis labels in ggplot. I have pasted a simple example below. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong? Thanks for your help. James library(ggplot2) ##create data

ggplot aspect ratio
Is there a way to control the aspect ratio of plots using ggplot? Specifically, I'm using the formula=a~b argument to produce a grid of plots, but the overall width of the result seems to vary for reasons that are obscure to me. This affects not only the appearance of the plots but the amount of space available for the title (which seems to be right justified relative to the right edge of the

Bar Plot ggplot2 Filling bars with cross hatching

How to create separate legend for each plot in the function of facet_wrap in ggplot2?
Hi R users, I need to create more than 20 figures (one for each group) in one page. I have a common legend for 20 figures using the facet_wrap. However the range of the values among the groups are very wide. For example one group has the value of 0 to 3, but the values of some of the groups has ranged from 0 to 20 so that when I used a single common legend for all 20 figures, I could not display

Problems with boxplot in ggplot2:qplot
Dataframe closed contains balances of closed accounts: each row has month of closure (Date-type column month) and latest balance. I would like to plot by-month distributions of balances. A qplot call below produces several warnings and no output. Can anyone help? Thank you. PS. A really basic task, very similar to the examples on p. 71 of the ggplot2 book, apart from a Date grouping column; I

ggplot2: sub/super-script axes labels
How are sub/superscripts designated for text in axis labels? As in this y-axis label: scale_y_continuous("Respiration, pmol O2 h-1") where the "2" needs to be subscripted and the "-1" needs to be superscripted. Thanks. Converting qqplot2 qplot() to grammar?
Hello all, I've been using the following qplot command: qplot(pixX,pixY, data=som, geom="tile", fill=rgb) + scale_fill_identity() + opts(aspect.ratio = .75) + facet_grid(unitX ~ unitY) Now I would like to convert it into the explicit ggplot grammar, so I can remove the extras: axes, labels, background, borders, facet labels, and extra white-space around the plot. (If anyone has

Using ggplot2 I need to move the location of legend to on the plot
  Thanks again for the hints about adding the vertical line to the hist plot and in ggplot.  That worked great.    Based on that advice I've been flipping through the ggplot2 doc and ggplot-static\index.html webpage more looking for the answer to the next question.    Unfortunately, I haven't stumbled on a description of how to move around the location of the legend.    Here is what I

ggplot2: font size mismatch for pdf output
Hi In the following, the graph I see on the screen and the .png output coincide. However, in the .pdf file, the fonts seem to be scaled fairly larger, resulting in the label for the top legend disappearing. Is this an infelicity or bug, or is there something I've missed? More generally, how do I control the size of fonts used in legends and axis labels? library(car) library(ggplot2) qp

ggplot qplot bar removing bars when truncating scale
I'm having problems with this example, it is posted with reproduceable code below, both with the normal 0-6 scale and the desired 3-6 scale (with bars removed). How can I get the graph to have the desired 3-6 scale without removing the bars. Thanks! #Data

tweak a bit the legend wiht ggplot2
Hi all, I've this ggplot2 graph (http://www.4shared.com/file/120101043/f3e9350/isotherm.html). I'd like to tweak the legend for the adsorbent part. I'd like to have full square of the colors instead of the full circles. I guess that I've to work on the scale_color_hue or fill somewhere but I haven't found my way yet. Here is my code to get the graph:

Adding vertical line to histogram and qplot "stacked" plot
R-users it appears I am leaning on your knowledge once again.  Is there any way to add a vertical line to a histogram and qplot "stacked" plot?  Here is my current attempt:   "qplot" approach attempt: qplot(Run, data = data_dataframe, breaks = breaks, fill = Temperature, main = short_title) + scale_x_continuous("Data") + scale_y_continuous("Freq")
