I created this image with R by using the following code:

I did NOT receive a grafic output

mapping of colornames into hsv: half way done
Ok,
now we have the mapping of color names to color codes (see below) and
conversion to rgb (something like Ben Bolker's function), but how to convert
rgb to hsv?
Thanks to Brian Ripley, Peter Dalgaard and Ben Bolker
Details below

Animated gif or something similar in R?
I'm have a (minor) problem and a question.
Problem: The following code creates 5 clusters of dots of different
colors. However, I need the second call outside the data.frame call to
get the colors to change for some reason. I assume there's an error in
the data.frame() call, but I don't know what.
Question: Is there is a way to cause the resulting graphic to rotate on

Great looking plot - but what does it mean?
http://www.nabble.com/file/p14668788/paragraphs.png
Hi,
R is is world full of wonders... I created the attached plot, and I think
it's exactly what I need! Well, actually I think it is more that wht I
need...
I wanted R to show the mean values of the categories on the x-axis and maybe
the standard derivation as well.
I am pretty confident that the bold horrizontal lines in the plot show

Quick question: Does this graph have a name?
http://www.nabble.com/file/p16349649/at-length.png
Hi,
I produced this graph with R and I am very happy with it. But now I wonder:
Is this some standard way of displaying data and if so, does it have a name?
(like Histogram, Box plot etc.)
I need to explain the plot to people so knowing a bit more about what
exactly this is, would certainly help ;-)
Thanks a lot!

I need help with using graphics in Word 2007 that will later be converted into a
pdf document.? I have tried several formats and found that?I get the best
quality of graphics using .wmf, .eps format, but when I convert it to .pdf I get
a bunch of lines across the figures.? I also tried .tiff and .png but they give
me much lower quality.? The best quality that converts to pdf appears to be

I tried to write a code to plot body length and body weight according

(Thanks for Petr's advice so far.)

Continuous legend colors
Dear List,
I am trying to get a basic plot to show a continuous range of fill colors. It is probably easiest to demonstrate. I would like a legend like in the following example:
Satellite.Palette <-colorRampPalette(c("blue3","cyan","aquamarine","yellow","orange","red"))
require(fields)
image.plot(volcano, col = Satellite.Palette

What to do with this data?
Hello,
This is not necessarily a question about R, but more about how we should
display our data in general. (Will we then use R to do that, once we know
what to do ;-) I received good replies about such things in the past on this
mailing list so I give it a go.
Here's what we did:
We showed a fairly large number of subjects search engine queries and

How to best read in this data / Switching rows and colums
Hi,
I have to read in data which looks like this:
SeriesA, 5, 5, 5, 5

SeriesF, 1, 2, 1, 5, 1, 7, 5, 7, 7, 3
There are actually much more data points in the data, each line contains
between 300 and 500 values.

Plotting color.legend() outside of plot region
Dear List,
I am trying to plot a color.legend() in the right outer margin of my device region. I have read multiple threads on the subject and still can't get it right. I have stolen an example from one of the threads to demonstrate my problem. I have extended the outer margin using par(oma()), and have used par(xpd=NA) to tell it to plot in the device region. I can get the legend to plot

Filling symbols in xyplot
Hello,
I am using xyplot and am happy with my graph, *except* that I cannot get
the symbols to be filled. I tried using
bg=c("red3","red","black","lightgrey")) in both the key and the xyplot
function, that that was obviously not the answer. I would like the
sybols to be filled with the same colors as the lines.
Does anybody have an answer? In case
