graph help
Hello, I'm fairly new to R and having trouble displaying my data graphically to a publishable quality. I have a multivariate data-set (columns all the same length), 8 environmental variables and 3 species diversity variables. I'm simply trying to display bivariate plots of the environmental variables against the species diversity variables (response variables). As there will be many

rgl.Sweave not producing transparency in pdf plots with alpha
Hi Folks, I'm trying to get rgl.Sweave to produce plots with transparency. However, it just seems to produce opaque plots when pdf is the output type. Perhaps this is a known issue? I'll just use .png in the meantime, but wanted to see about this, as I didn't see it in the documentation (though it's possible I missed it). Thanks, Allie \documentclass{article} \title {rgl

Haegemonia (Hegemonia) and shiny surfaces? Effects missing?
Hello! :) Explanation of the problem: For several years now it is impossible to render "shiny" (glossy, vertex shaders), effects on ships, planets and generally metallic surfaces in Haegemonia. The problem is that newer graphics drivers on Windows systems changed/lack a feature the game exploited to get these effects. Way back when I was mailing the developers of the game, I was told

Plotting Two Surfaces in one plot with wireframe() using groups=
Hi. I tried the following: F<-function(x,y,b1,b2,b3) b1/(1+b2*(x+b3*y)); t<-data.frame(ExM=c(T$ExM,F(T$S1,T$S2,0.2,0.2,51.28205)),S1=rep(T$S1,2),S2=rep(T$S2,2),gr=c(rep(1,length(T$ExM)),rep(2,length(T$ExM)))); library(lattice); wireframe(ExM ~ S1 * S2, data = t, groups=gr); where T is da dataframe like T<-data.frame(S1=...,S2=...,ExM=...) But the resulting response

Two surfaces in one plot with visibility
Hi, I would like plot two surfaces which are each given by vectors x and y, and a matrix m(x,y) representing the z coordinate. With persp() I can plot both, using par(new=TRUE) I can put it in one plot. However, I would like to have the visibility of the surfaces taken into account as if they are solid thin surfaces, so that for example the order of the plot commands does not matter. Any idea

plotting two surfaces simultaneously in a single panel
Hi, I have recently begun using the lattice package, and have been using the wireframe command to visualise matrices which are model outputs. I have been trying to plot two surfaces (from two matrices) simultaneously in one panel, to visualise intersections etc., but neither my attempts or trawling the net are helping me find how to do this. Can someone help? Thanks Cheers, Umesh Srinivasan

[PATCH] Fix glTexSubImage on swizzled surfaces on <=NV40
Currently in nvXX_transfer_new a temporary as large as the surface is created. If the subrectangle is not the whole texture we would need to read back the whole texture, but we aren't. Thus, everything but the subrectangle specified is loaded as garbage. This can be seen in progs/demos/ray. This patch fixes the problem by creating a temporary that covers only the desired subrectangle. This

[1.1.1] Too much quantization on flat red surfaces
Hi, I've tested Theora on an HD-ready material, with quality 7, single pass. Resulting bitrate was 1.8Mb/s. Most parts of a movie encoded this way look fine, usually better than a DVD, and in daylight scenes, have no noticeable artifacts at all. But it seems that red surfaces are too much compressed; blocking artifacts are clearly visible on them. Also, white people have slightly smeared

surfaces and digital terrain model
Dear all, I have computed a digital terrain model from a set of points (x, y, z) using the function interp() in package akima. I want to predict flooded surfaces given target values of z. I can display the flooded surfaces with contour() or image(), but I don't know how to get the polygons delimiting the surfaces. Did anyone write a function for this purpose ? Best regards, Renaud --

Fractional brownian surfaces
Hi list, I'm trying to generate fractional brownian surfaces in R. [A detailed description with respect to various techniques to generating these neutral landscapes has been described by Timothy Keitt (spectral representation of neutral landscapes, Landscape Ecology, 2000) and probably various other authours.] Are there any packages that deal with this or related items? I've been

parametric surfaces
Hi, does anyone know how to plot 3D parametric surface,e.g ellipsoid: x=a*cos(s)*cos(t), y=b*sin(s)*cos(t), z=sin(t); s in [0,2*pi], t in [-pi,pi]. Vytautas Maniusis, Vilnius University, Lithuania

vegan (ordisurf): R² for smoothed surfaces
Dear r-helpers, I just read in an article by Virtanen et al. (2006) where vegetation-environment relationships are studied by fitting smoothed surfaces on an NMDS ordination using GAMs (Wood 2000). The authors describe, that they used R? as goodness-of-fit statistic, which they compare to the R? of fitted vectors. Calculations were carried out using the package vegan (Oksanen). I know that I can

What is the best way to plots surfaces in 3 dimensions?

Plotting 3d surfaces
Dear Subscribers, I am using R for quite a while nowadays on Ubuntu 10.04 LTS. I a using R for doing my statistics. Furthermore I am using it as a tool to generate the graphics for my publications. I am currently working on a project which involves nls-fits of three dimensional surfaces such as ellipsoids or even more complex. I have been searching R help and the manuals for a possibility to

"Local trend surfaces" Ex from V&R MASS
Hi Folks, I'm probably overlooking some small point, but can't see it. Trying the "Local trend surfaces" example from p.437 of MASS (3rd edn) by V&R, all goes well until the line contour(topo.mar$x, topo.mar$y, topo.lo$fit, levels=seq(700,1000,25), xlab="fi t", ylab="") which produces the response: Error in contour.default(topo.mar$x,

how to plot two surfaces with lattice::wireframe
Hi all, I'd like to plot the Real and Imaginary parts of some f(z) as two different surfaces in wireframe (the row/column axes are the real and imag axes). I know I can do it by, roughly speaking, something like plotz <- expand.grid(x={range of Re(z)}, y={range of Im(z), groups=1:2) plotz$func<-c(Re(f(z),Im(f(z)) wireframe(func~x*y,data=plotz, groups=groups) But that seems like a

Cannot connect to a Eaton Ellipse Pulsar ASR/6000VA usbs [solved] but new problem surfaces.
Hi Charles, thank you for your answer. This was indeed the core of the problem. I have amended the configuration files. It means now the communication works as required. Alas I now have another problem. Just for the record here is the configuration after the changes. The configuration is as follows. #nut.conf MODE=standalone #ups.conf [eaton] driver = usbhid-ups port = auto

3D plot and interactive PDFs
With version 8 of acrobat reader, it is now possible to have 3D in PDf documents. Does it exist already an R package who manage to produce 3D plots which can be saved as interactive 3D graphs in a PDF file?
