Invoking R from application
Dear all, I'm trying to invoke R from an application which I'm developing. I have indications that the problem is specific to R. I'm able to e.g. invoke a Python script in the same way with success, but R is giving me problems. Last year a guy with nickname vital101 posted a message on the Java forums website about invoking R from Java. The link to that thread is:

Problem with invoking R from the command line (Windows Vista)
Dear all I am running in a problem when trying to run R from Windows command line. I am runnning Windows Vista, R-2.10.1. I have a script I would like to run remotely from another program. As it did not work, I thought I would test the script from the Windows command line which highlighted a problem. When I open the command line and type R at the prompt (or any other variant (R CMD BATCH,

No exit codes from RTerm (Windows) (PR#9296)
Full_Name: Russell V. Lenth Version: 2.3.1 OS: Windows XP Pro Submission from: (NULL) (128.255.132.188) I wrote a simple .BAT file to run the Sweave function on a file (via RTerm), then run pdflatex on the result (after RTerm exits). The issue is that if an error condition occurs in RTerm, it is prudent to not do the pdflatex processing afterward. Here are the relevant statements in the BAT

rterm.exe and graphics windows
I have started using R 1.5.0 on Windows 2000. The refinement of this system in such a short time is astounding, and I thank those who have worked on it and made it available! I have been using rterm.exe to develop R scripts in my preferred editor (not emacs) by sending the command rterm.exe --save < %f where the editor substitutes the filename for %f. This works wonderfully, and the

graphics with rterm
I would like to use R as the graphical interface for a fortran program I am writing. Presently my fortran code produces a set of data files then sends an "rterm ..... <filename.r >out.out" line to my windows system. This causes rterm to read in the data files, draw plots on my screen in milliseconds .... and then terminate and disappear, plots and all, forever. It's this last

About "=" in command line in windows.
It seems, I don't understand something, or there is a bug in R. I have made some experiments after my yesterday post about using "=" with -e switch to the Rscript. Now, I've found: (1) C:\users\wl\trainings\r>rscript --verbose -e "mean(x=1:3)" running 'C:\Program Files\R\bin\Rterm.exe --slave --no-restore -e mean(x=1:3)' Error in -args : invalid

Error handling with frozen RCurl function calls + Identification of frozen R processes
Dear list, I'm tackling an empiric research problem that requires me to address a whole bunch of conceptual and/or technical details at the same time which cuts time short for all the nitty-gritty details of the "components" involved. Having said this, I'm lacking the time at the moment to deeply dive into parallel computing and HTTP requests via RCurl and I hope you can help me

R-0.65.1 Startup
Dear R users, I have noticed that my R startup is extremely slow. It takes almost 3 minutes from "double-click" to R prompt. I have been running R-0.64.1 till recently and it took about 30 sec. I still have access to R-0.64.1. When I started it up, it took about 25 sec. Can anyone tell me if this is a bug in R or a problem with my machine? Note: This is after bootup with R being the

Problem with .libPaths & Rterm.exe (under Vista)
Dear list, I?m using R embedded in another program (coded in tcl/tk) under Windows Vista. In this context I don?t launch Rgui.exe but rather Rtem.exe. Now I have a problem finding libraries not specifically installed as administrator (and which are not in the path ?program files? but in Contacts\Documents of the current user). To be precise, the user launching my tcl/tk program can?t find

Package Build fails: make ./help: no such file or directory
Dear List, After having installed R 2.6.0/Windows 2000, my trusted command script to build and install my package fails with an error message I do not understand. I have installed a fresh copy of Rtools, and made sure that these are the first on the path. For testing, I am using a package version from an older backup where I am sure that everything else was ok.

Calling R in BATCH mode from C programm
Hello R-people, I have the following problem : In order to run R script from DOS prompt in BATCH mode and pass it some parameters I do the following : Rterm --slave --no-save --no-restore <args.R> args.out ARG1=1 ARG2=2 It works fine : the result is that the script args.R is isexecuted. Sys.getenv() sees the arguments ARG1 and ARG2, and the R creates output file args.out Now I want

Creating a graphics window (in Windows, with RGui) that is not constrained to the RGui Window
Hi, all, Using RGui, is it possible to create a graphics window that can be moved outside of the RGui window? (This can be done--in fact must be done--using Rterm, but I wish to use RGui.) My interest for this is to use two monitors: in "my private monitor" I wish to execute R code in the Rgui window; in "the public monitor" I want the audience to see the results in the

using Rterm under cygwin, no possiblity to delete characters
Dear R-users, When I call Rterm from cygwin, I have no options but typing the exact syntax the first time. If I happen to hit the "delete" key (backspace), R dies when I press enter saying : Error: ... (error concerning the function on the last line of text) Execution halted Perhaps some of you have experienced this and found work arounds? One has to be pretty good to type without

Strange "no-echo" in place of "slave"
SVN revision replaces "slave" with "no-echo" in R devel. In each of the following, "no-echo" is rather strange to me. - src/gnuwin32/README.Rterm 3) As a no-echo process for ESS mode in NTEmacs with flag --ess. - src/library/grDevices/src/qdCocoa.m /* the no-echo thread work until this is NO */

graphics window closes after invoking
Hi, I hope this is my last stupid question for this project. I run (WinXP) Rcmd* BATCH ToDo.R and want the produced graph to be seen on the display. But after a part of a second the graphics window is closed again. I suppose, because Rcmd does not work interactive, there will be no command like "wait for key pressed" or similar. Is there a possibility to let the window open as long
