Discrete trait Ornstein–Uhlenbeck in R?
Is there a package that will allow me to fit Brownian motion and
Ornstein?Uhlenbeck models of evolution for discrete traits? I know that
geiger and ouch have commands for fitting these models for continuous
traits, but these aren't suitable for discrete trait evolution, correct?

fitting Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process by MAXIMUM LIKELYHOOD
Dear friends
i am trying to fit an Ornstein-Uhlenbeck process by MAXIMUM LIKELYHOOD
method.
i found these formulas on
http://www.sitmo.com/article/calibrating-the-ornstein-uhlenbeck-model/
this is the mean-reverting process

and this is the script that i am using.......

mean reverting model
dear useRs,
i'm working with a mean reverting model of the following specification:
y = mu + beta(x - mu) + errorterm, where mu is a constant
currently I estimate just y = x (with lm()) to get beta and then
calculate mu = estimated intercept / (1-beta).
but I'd like to estimate mu and beta together in one regression-step
and also get the test-statistics (including parameter

new R packages for phylogenetic compartive methods
Dear all,
I wanted to let you know about four phylogenetic comparative methods (PCM) packages that have become available on (3 on CRAN and 1 on GitHub) recently that hopefully will be interesting to somebody. Three of them go significantly beyond the Brownian motion (BM) and Ornstein-Uhlenbeck (OU) processes.
1) There is a new version of mvSLOUCH available. The most important change is that

Error using "White-corrected" Anova (white.adjust="hc3")
Hello.
I try to compute a "White-corrected" ANOVA. Therefore I use the command "Anova" implemented in the car()-package):
Anova(modelname, white.adjust="hc3")
and receive the error message:
"Fehler in SS[i] <- SS.term(names[i]) : nichts zu ersetzen" (German)

Using dovecot as LDA for postfix
Hi
Here is my environment:
Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server release 5.7 (Tikanga)
postfix-2.9.1-1.rhel5
dovecot 1.0.7
I want to config a complete postfix-dovecot mail server. First I configured postfix to use procmail, its default LDA and dovecot for pop3 and imap. I didn't changed main.cf a lot, just myhostname and a few other properties. I didn't set home_mailbox. About dovecot.conf

nc file
Hello
I am a PhD student in ecology.
The subject of my thesis is climate change and agricultural systems
modeling. One of the software used in this research is R.
As you know, nc files show climate variables by year in general for the
whole world.
With what command line can I isolate an nc file climate variable for a
specific location?

resend: * newbie: overhead paging and nbsd
I've rummaged through the archives and documentation and have yet to
find references to nbsd or mention of how to implement overhead paging
using chan_oss as mentioned in the list previously. I suspect that one
would use a soundcard in the PBX system and feed the output to speakers
and/or PA system. Would someone please point me to some procedures or
documentation to acomplish overhead paging?

adehabitat version 1.6
Dear all,
I have just uploaded to CRAN the version 1.6 of the
package 'adehabitat'. Significant changes are
listed below:
* The package has been reorganized into four parts (see
?adehabitat-package for a description): (i) management of raster maps,
(ii) habitat selection / ecological niche analysis, (iii) home range
analysis, and (iv) analysis of animals trajects. The package contains

Effects of migration
So, to follow up to my previous thread, we just successfully migrated our
NFS-based mail cluster from qmail pop, courier imap, and bincimap to
dovecot 1.1rc1.
Overall the transition was very smooth, the only unexpected adjustment was
having to implement ntpd on each box, rather than doing an hourly ntpdate
against our local ntpd server, to prevent dovecot from crashing itself
from too much

Xen 3 vs Xen 4
Hi;
Currently I am running xen 3.4.2 on one of my Centos servers , I want
to upgrade to latest version of xen but I dont know if I should
upgrade to latest branch of xen 3 or xen 4 ? is xen 4 backward
compatible with xen 3 VMs ? does it provide any performance benefit
compared to xen 3 ?
What is your recommendation ?

Rebuild of kernel 2.6.9-67.0.20.EL failure
Hello list.
I'm trying to rebuild the 2.6.9.67.0.20.EL kernel, but it fails even without
modifications.
How did I try it?
Created a (non-root) build environment (not a mock )
Installed the kernel.scr.rpm and did a
rpmbuild -ba --target=`uname -m` kernel-2.6.spec 2> prep-err.log | tee
prep-out.log
The build failed at the end:

I've looked through the lists and archives for overhead paging and I've
seen responses to use nbsd or chan_oss. Does someone have a recipe to
follow that shows how to implement overhead paging?
best regards,
