Unexpected behavior in PBSmapping package
Using R 2.5.1 on Windows XP Professional, and PBSmapping package version 2.51, I have encountered some behavior which puzzles me. I am including the package's listed maintainer on this email but also seek the thoughts of the R-help community. I have a set of EventData, which I want to plot as points, and to color the points according to some criterion. It turns out that some of my

3D plot of a bivariate normal distribution
Hi, I've used the Mathematica to produce 3D graphics, contour plots of a bivariate normal distribution Now I want make these graphics in R, but i do not know how. I would like to: - Plot a 3D graph for some different variance matrix - Plot the contour plots - Find and try to plot (in the 3d graph ou contour plot) the (1-a)% confidence region based in a chi-square(a) with the degrees of

png and pdf : point size, font size, etc.
Hi, I am new to this mailing list. Didn`t find the answer in the archives. But I guess, there are people out there, who know the solution: In an automatic script, I want to produce simple plots. First I prefer pdf, because of scalability and standardization. But when I have too many datapoints (say 300.000) the viewing and printing is very, very slow. So I decided to take some bitmapped format

Help with calc_sde
I cannot seem to get this to work? I have weighted data points that I want to fit an sd-ellipse to, but the ellipse is not right? I have attached a .tiff of what I get. I'm wondering if it's not looking at my actual data, but taking the data from the example? I ask this because I don't know where "Title" comes from in the graph? Also, I want to put calcentre=FALSE, but if I

Re: Plotting bivariate normal distributions.
You'll find that it is a lot easier to do it in R: # lets first simulate a bivariate normal sample library(MASS) bivn <- mvrnorm(1000, mu = c(0, 0), Sigma = matrix(c(1, .5, .5, 1), 2)) # now we do a kernel density estimate bivn.kde <- kde2d(bivn[,1], bivn[,2], n = 50) # now plot your results contour(bivn.kde) image(bivn.kde) persp(bivn.kde, phi = 45, theta = 30) # fancy contour with

Re: [R} stars graphs
I thought about that star graph again, and realized that it would be quite a handy thing for visualizing cyclic data like time or compass direction. Here is a cleaned up (and renamed) version to do a polar plot that starts at the right and goes counterclockwise or a 24 hour clock plot that starts at the top and goes clockwise. There are probably other varieties that would be interesting. Jim

Nested objects not propagating from view
I thought I had this fixed, but apparently not. It works okay from the console, but not from the view. I have the following: # partial schema create_table "users", :force => true do |t| t.string "login", :null => false t.string "first_name" t.string "last_name" t.string "email", :null => false

Problem with spacing
I''m having the devil''s time trying to get things laid out correctly. I''ve attached a screenshot so that you can get an idea of what I''m seeing. I''ve got a very unattractive space under the two combo boxes, and another one under the buttons. I don''t understand how to reduce this. I know it''s impossible to guess what idiocy I might have

Problems with the Speex Jitter Buffer
(Sorry about the delay -- currently attending ICASSP) Hi, Haven't looked at all the details, but what's clearly wrong is that you need to put the *compressed* packets in the jitter buffer and decode them only when you _get() them. Custom Primary Key, Using Primary Key in Form gives "before_type_cast" error?
Hi guys, I''ve got a problem here which i need help from the pro''s in this mailing list I have a legacy app where the User table has a custom structure where "User_id" (username) is the primary key as well as the username used to log in User.rb (model) class User < ActiveRecord::Base set_table_name "cmf901" set_primary_key "user_id" end

Drawing dendrogram
Dear all, I would like to draw a dendrogram and mark some parts/branches (by using "segments") including their labels. If I draw it without specifying the length of x axix, I am able to do that (as in My dendrogram 1 of the following codes). However, if I want to specify the x axix, I am not able to draw marking line (by using "segments") including labels (as in My dendrogram

xmlToDataFrame#Help!!!#follow-up
Dieter Menne pointed out that the (small) xml attachment didn't make it. Here is an in-line version (see end of message). Let's hope it works this time. I'm struggling with interpreting XML files created by ADODB as data.frames and I'm looking for advice. Note: This xlm contains a result set which comes from a rectangular data array. I've been trying to play with

Another good optimization (for PPC only, though)
Using the PPC frsqrte and fres instructions, I got the percentage time take in the smoothing code in _vp_compute_mask() down from 13.64% to 1.88% of the running time. In my local copy of Vorbis I have a fast_math.[hc] in vorbis/lib and have a _fast_sqrt() inline in fast_math.h. If anyone else wants to try it out, it follows. I can currently encode my test file (the first 15 seconds of
