Inconsistent results from var.get.nc in RNetCDF
Hello -
I am having trouble extracting data from NetCDF data files using
RNetCDF. The data files each have 3 dimensions (longitude, latitude,
and a date) and 3 variables (latitude, longitude, and a climate
variable).
Here is some of the output from print.nc for clarity:

Custom nonlinear self starting function w/ 2 covariates

I'm trying to adjust a non linear model in which the biological response
variable (ratio of germinated fungus spores) is dependent on 2 covariates
(temperature and time). The response to temperature is modeled by a kind of
beta function with 2 parameters (optimal and maximum temperatures) and the
time function is a 2-parameter Weibull. Adjustments with nls or gnls work,

Use multiple cores on Linux
I am trying to run the following code in R on a Linux cluster. I would like
to use the full processing power (specifying cores/nodes/memory). The code
essentially runs predictions based on a GAM regression and saves the
results as a CSV file for multiple sets of data (here I only show two).
Is it possible to run this code using HPC packages such as
Rmpi/snow/doParallel? Thank you!

coercing a list to a data frame, lists in foreloops
I have a set of time-series climate data with missing entries. I need to add
rows for these missing entries to this data set. The only way I know to do
this is unsing a foreloop, but this won't work on a list. I've tried to
convert the list to a data frame, but that won't happen, either.
I want to fill rows in this table:

covariates in nlmer function
I am trying to explore nlmer by running some nlme examples from Pinheiro
& Bates (2000). I do not seem to find information how to specify fixed
effects covariates to nlmer models. Specifically, I tried to run the
"Carbon Dioxide Uptake" example from p. 368 onwards in the PB200 book.
The model without fixed effects covariates runs well but how to tell
nlmer to include Type and

chron: parsing dates into a data frame using a forloop
I have one data frame with a column of dates and I want to fill another data
frame with one column of dates, one of years, one of months, one of a unique
combination of year and month, and one of days, but R seems to have some
problems with this. My initial data frame looks like this (ignore the NAs in
the other fields):

how to handle irregularly spaced data as timeseries
I have a set of modeled climate data recorded at irregular intervals.
The format of the data is such that there are monthly measurements for
the years 2000, 2020, 2050, 2080, etc. Therefore I have 12 regular
records, a skip of some number of years, then 12 more monthly records,
another skip, and so on.... I created a dataframe from .txt with the
read.table() command. For starters I need

convert an S plus file to R?
hi!
i send again my question because there was a problem earlier that
someone did not see my attached file. If you really can't download it,
this is the attached file.
Please help me how to convert this S plus file to R.
Is there a quick method to do it? I don't have an S plus
installer here.

Extracting subset from netCDF file using lat/lon and converting into .csv in R
Two questions:
1. Is the order of the dimensions shown what is shown if you look at str(ncin) - I mean shown at the end where it describes the variable and its dimensions?
2. Is you problem how to subset the netcdf file, how to write to the .csv file, or both?

variable, e.g. tmin/tmax/precipiation/windspeed/relative

Yes. With that many files, file.choose() does not make sense. However, I
still do not understand what is the problem with using lapply() on the
character vector of file names with read.table() as you did in your
