combining data from 2 independent surveys
Good afternoon! My question is more of a "is there a package for doing........?" If one has 2 independent studies which both independently measure a trait of a population, but both of them are constructed from 2 separate frames (which TOGETHER refer to the population of interest), is there a possibility to infer a mean, median.. for the population but taking into account all the

Sorry, Newbie here
I never heard of Asterisk before today, but from what i'm looking at on the website and hearing, it sounds pretty incredibly. If I understand correctly with a 1,500.00 Wildcard TE410p T1 card, a good BSD or Linux Server, and a couple IP phones or Netmeeting on a few workstations, and of course, Asterisk which is free; I call have a small call center. This can't be? I was looking at

Using earth.dist function
Hi Everyone, I am a graduate student who will be using R to do my analysis. I need to do a spatial analysis, and the first step is to calculate the geographic distance between my study sites. I am hoping to use earth.dist because it allows for multiple pairwise distances to be calculated at one time. I have done a sample calculation, and I seem to have a problem between the steps of using

mixed models for analyzing survey data with unequal selec tion probability
Han-Lin I don't think I have seen a reply so I will suggest that maybe you could try a different approach than what you are thinking about doing. I believe the current best practice is to use the weights as a covariate in a regression model - and bytheway - the weights are the inverse of the probabilities of selection - not the probabilities. Fundamentally, there is a difficulty in making

Machine accounts by migrating from smbpasswd to ldapsam
Hi all, I'm wondering what about machine accounts (WinXP) by migrating from Samba 2.2.8 with authentication backend /etc/smbpasswd to Samba 3.0.4 with ldapsam. Is it possible just to take NT hash from smbpasswd and paste it to ldap record as sambaNTPassword? I'm not able to login from machine vs3 to new domain. My configuration files and log files follow. The Samba-SID is the same

[Fwd: Re: mixed models for analyzing survey data with unequal selection probability]
Hi, All Thanks to Robert Baskin, Thomas Lumley, and Spencer Graves for the valuable helps. I have learned a lot from this discussion. I put all discussions together without editing, so we can see how things are evolved. Likely, I have a lot of articles to read. As in the discussion, mixed modeling approach is a poosible but may be over-kill in my posted data analyses. I will explore other

Call recording
Hello, How would I go ahead a record all phone calls into and out of my asterisk server. I know the legality issues behind it, but I could always play a recording to let people know they will be recorded. Brian J. Feature request: ProxyJump with Unix sockets
Dear developers, The ProxyJump feature is nowadays implemented on the basis of a TCP port forwarding on the jumping host, isn't it? As a result, this is affected by a AllowTcpForwarding=no configuration on the jumping host. So, may I suggest a variant based on Unix sockets (such as -L or -R does). Nice idea, isn't it? Any volunteer to implement this? Best regards Christophe

Windows XP joining Samba 3 PDC: SAM Response - user unknown
Hi all, I encounter a problem trying to join a Samba 3 domain with a Windows XP client. Checking the network traffic with Wireshark I can see that the client sends a logon request with an empty username and the samba server replies with "user unknown". This behaviour is the same no matter whether I try to join the domain via system properties or the netdom join command. I can find

Distinctive Ring
Hi All, I was wondering what the status of distinctive ring support in Asterisk is? I had a google search & read and Mark Spencer wrote some support for it. Is distinctive ring different in every country or is it pretty standard? And for my final question, does the Wildcard FXO card support distinctive ring? Essentially what I'm trying to do is route incoming calls with ring #1 to,

methods for complex sample surveys
I have learned a lot from this list. I would like to thank the developers and contributors who devote so much of their time to this project. Does anyone know if any methods have been developed for handling data from complex sample surveys that include sample weights, clusters, strata, and so on? I know that SUDAAN, Stata have some abilities. Does anything exist in R/S? Paul E. Green

[LLVMdev] Registers and isel type inference
So I tried adding a new register class to the x86 target: def WIDE32 : RegisterClass<"X86", [i32, f32], 32, (add GR32, FR32)>; I thought this would be a harmless thing to do since the new register class is not being referenced anywhere. I was wrong, it caused all kinds of assertion failures from tablegen's isel pattern generator. It appears that tablegen is inferring the

Sample size estimation for sample surveys
Hi, Is there an R package for estimating sample size requirements for parameter estimation in sample surveys? In particular, I'm interested in sample size estimation for stratified and systematic sampling. I have a textbook with appropriate formulae, but it'd be nice if I didn't have to type in all of the equations. Thanks Tom

Analysis of Dispersion
Does anyone know of an R implementation of Rao's (1965) described 'Analysis of Dispersion' which is the generalization of the General Linear Model, Y = XB, to multiple Y variables and the further use of the method to 'Test of Additional Information' in one set of Y variables corrected for a second set of Y variables, i.e. the generalization of covariance analysis. I have

Surveys ans missing values
Hello, I still apologise if the question i ask is naive. I would like to use R instead of usual softs (SAS, Stata) or at list to do things that the others do not. As a consequence I am trying to get familiar with R, and i am astonished because it does not seem to do things that are easy to do on other softs. I have got data with missing values (I am working on a questionnaire filled by students)

how to list variables enclosed in an environment
I'm having trouble with a Bioconductor package, an variable expected in an environment does not seem to be there. As part of my investigation of the problem (most likely on my end) I'd like to list the variables contained in an environment. If you have an environment loaded, lets call it "pkgEnv', how does one find what it does contain? Mark

D-Link DPH-80S vs *
List, The D'Link phones are not reliable at this time. I am trying to get them fix their Firmware to my specifications. It is half done so far. However there are still hurdles. below email is self explanatory. At present if you want to use these phones, you need to buy D'Link's SIP Server and run this as one of your SIP servers in the blend to call to Asterisk. Seshu Kanuri "G

Matrix multiplication problem
Dear List, I am having trouble with some R code I have written to perform Redundancy Analysis (RDA) on a matrix of species abundance data (Y) and a matrix of environmental data (X). RDA is a constrained form of PCA and can be thought of as a PCA of the fitted values of a regression of each variable in Y on all variables in X. For info, the first use of RDA is in: Rao, C.R, 1964. The use and
