... and the mailing list is picky about attachments... whatever you attached did not conform to the stringent requirements mentioned in the Posting Guide. Pasting the code right into the email is usually safest, though you DO have to post using plain text (as the Posting Guide indicates) or your code may get mangled by the automatic html format removal. Unless there is good reason not to, always cc the list -- there are lots of smarter folks than I on it who can help. I may or may not have time to look at this. extract the data that match
Hi r-users,   I would like to extract the data that match.  Attached is my data: I'm interested in matchind the value in column 'intg' with value in column 'rand_no' > cbind(z=z,intg=dd,rand_no = rr)             z  intg rand_no    [1,]  0.00 0.000   0.001    [2,]  0.01 0.000   0.002    [3,]  0.02 0.000   0.002    [4,]  0.03 0.000   0.003    [5,]  0.04 0.000   0.003    [6,]

OK, Let's try this again! Here is the reproducible script; it is long because I had to copy the panel dataset here. My question is related to systemfit; I don't know how to get the result for the entire panel. #Reproducible script Empdata<- read.csv("/Users/ngwinuiazenui/Documents/UPLOADemp.csv") View(Empdata) install.packages("systemfit")

Sadly you failed to set your email program to send plain text and the data is corrupted at my end. I also think you need to reduce the size of the data set... the intent here is to increase your understanding, not debug your particular analysis. I will say that I am having a very challenging time understanding what you are trying to accomplish though. What are the equations that you think need

How to get NA's into the output of xtabs?
Dear all, Lets say I have the following data frame: > df1 <- data.frame(Show=c('Star Trek', 'Babylon 5', 'Dr Who'), Size=c(0.7, 0.0, 0.701), Date=as.Date(c('2007-08-03', '2007-08-03', '2007-08-03'), format='%Y-%m-%d')) > df2 <- data.frame(Show=c('Star Trek', 'Dr Who', 'Torchwood'), Size=c(0.8, 0.85,

How to get prediction for a variable in WinBUGS?
Dear all,I am a new user of WinBUGS and need your help. After running the following code, I got parameters of beta0 through beta4 (stats, density), but I don't know how to get the prediction of the last value of h, the variable I set to NA and want to model it using the following code.Does anyone can given me a hint? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.Best

Puzzled with contour()
Folks, The contour() function wants x and y to be in increasing order. I have a situation where I have a grid in x and y, and associated z values, which looks like this: x y z [1,] 0.00 20 1.000 [2,] 0.00 30 1.000 [3,] 0.00 40 1.000 [4,] 0.00 50 1.000 [5,] 0.00 60 1.000 [6,] 0.00 70 1.000 [7,] 0.00 80 0.000 [8,] 0.00 90

write.table
Hello, When using write.table I am getting two variables pasted together (not by choice). Has anyone else had this happen? Specifically, I have the following: d _ read.dta(paste('/montecarlo/forecast/off/',F,'.dta',sep='')) write.table(d,file=paste('/montecarlo/forecast/off/csv/',F,'.csv',sep=''), row.names=FALSE, col.names=FALSE,

Help wit matrices
Hello all, I am working with a 1000x1000 matrix, and I would like to return a 1000x1000 matrix that tells me which value in the matrix is greater than a theshold value (1 or 0 indicator). i have tried mat2<-as.matrix(as.numeric(mat1>0.25)) but that returns a 1:100000 matrix. I have also tried for loops, but they are grossly inefficient. THanks for all your help in advance. Lanre

Calculating & plotting a linear regression between two correlated variables
Hi, I have a Community (COM) composed of 6 species: A, B, C, D, E & F. The density of my Community is thus (Eq.1): dCOM = dA + dB + dC + dE + dF I would like to calculate and plot a linear regression between the density of each of my species and the density of the whole community (illustrating how the density of each species varies with variations of the whole community). For example, I would

Here's my code: > library(fPortfolio) > >xmpPortfolio("\nStart: Load monthly data set of returns > ") > data(berndtInvest) > # Exclude Date, Market and Interest Rate columns from data

Systematically biased count data regression model
Dear all, I am attempting to explain patterns of arthropod family richness (count data) using a regression model. It seems to be able to do a pretty good job as an explanatory model (i.e. demonstrating relationships between dependent and independent variables), but it has systematic problems as a predictive model: It is biased high at low observed values of family richness and biased low at

Subsetting within xyplot()
All, I'm having problems w/ a simple attempt to subset an xyplot. The first plot below is a plot of y versus x for certain values of a third categorical variable z. Now I'd like to further restrict this to certain values of variable y. Neither of the two attempts below work. Any suggestions much appreciated. (note: I don't want to merely use ylim since I have a loess plot and I

xen_evtchn_do_upcall
Hi, Is anybody know the purpose of this method (xen_evtchn_do_upcall)? When I run a user level application involved in TCP receiving and the SoftIRQ for eth0 on the same CPU core, everything is OK. But if I run them on 2 different cores, there will be xen_evtchn_do_upcall() existing (maybe when the local_bh_disable<http://www.cs.fsu.edu/~baker/devices/lxr/http/ident?i=local_bh_disable>() or

Replacing plot symbols w/ subject IDs in xyplot()
All, How does one replace plot symbols with say subject IDs when using xyplot? Or superimpose them next to plot symbols? I searched the archives under various key words but haven't had much. Any suggestions or links much appreciated. Sample code below. David junk.frm = data.frame(ID = rep(1:16, each = 2), x, y, z = rep(c("D", "P"), 16)) y = c( 0.4, 0.6, -0.1,

Formatted Data File Question for Clustering -Quickie Project
I am trying to learn how to format Ascii data files for scan or read into R. Precisely for a quickie project, I found some code (at end of this email) to do exactly what I need: To cluster and graph a dendrogram from package (stats). I am stuck on how to format a text file to run the script. I looked at the dataset USArrests (which would be replaced by my data and labels) using UltraEdit. That
