Help with predict.Arima with external regressor values
Hi all there I am enjoying R since 2 weeks and I come to my first deadlock, il am trying to use predict.Arima in the ts package. I get a "Error in cbind(...) : cannot create a matrix from these types" -- Start R session ----------------------------------------------------- > fitdiv <- arima(data, c(2, 0, 3), xreg = y ) ; print(fitdiv) Call: arima(x = data, order = c(2, 0, 3),

help for segmented package
Hi, I am trying to find m breakpoints of a linear regression model. I used the segmented package. It works fine for small number of predicators and breakpoints.(3 r.v. 3 points). However, my model has 14 variables it even would not work even for just one breakpoints!. The error message is always estimated breakpoints are out of range. Since my problem is time related problem. So I

CI with confint
Hello all, I'm trying to use confint from the MASS package to compute confidence intervals for an nls object. When I plot the results, however, they don't make sense - lines cross over the fitted model or just don't match the data. Code is : Thanks for help dat<-data.frame(a,b) with(dat, plot(a,b)) model<-(nls(b~(1/exp(a*x))*n, data=dat, start=list(x=.001,n=20),

Standardized residual variances in SEM
Hello, I'm using the "sem" package to do a confirmatory factor analysis on data collected with a questionnaire. In the model, there is a unique factor G and 23 items. I would like to calculate the standardized residual variance of the observed variables. "Sem" only gives the residual variance with the "summary" function, or the standardized loadings with the

Issue with Mavericks Mail Client
We run a dovecot mailserver. One of the clients I use is a Mac Laptop. Recently I upgraded from Mountain Lion (10.8) to Mavericks (10.9). Under 10.8 it worked fine. On 10.9 it syncs up when I invoke the client, but after a while stops getting updates. Most of my mail clients are on Linux (thunderbird) or Android (K9) and I admit that several run against my very large INBOX simultaneously. The

Create matrix with subset from unlist
Hello all, I'm trying to create a 2x2 matrix, 32 times after unlist() so that I can convert the list to matrix. I've looked through the R archive but couldn't find the answer. There is what I've done. > f <- system("ls *.txt", intern=TRUE) > x <- lapply(f, read.table) > x [[1]] V1 V2 1 -27.3 14.4 2 29.0 -38.1 [[2]] V1 V2 1 14.4

multi-regression with more than 50 independent variables
Hi R Users, I am going to run a multiple linear regression with around 57 independent variables. Each time I run the model with just 11 variables, the results are reasonable. With increasing the number of independent variables more than 11, the coefficients will get ?NA? in the output. Is there any limitation for the number of independent variables in multiple linear regressions in R? I attached

OT: computing percentage changes with negative and zero values?
Dear all I need to compute percentage changes of my data, but unfortunately they contain both negative and zero values, and I am quite confused on how to proceed. Searching the internet I found that many people ran into similar issues, with no obvious solution available. The last couple of weeks I've been playing with all the data transformations that I could think of. Below I will expose on

Problem with save or/and if (I think but maybe not ...)
Hi, I recently discovered the R program and I thought it could be useful to me. I have to analyse data saved as .Px file (x between 0 and 8 - .P0 files have 18 lines at the beginning that I have to skip). New files are generated everyday. This is my strategy : In order to analyse the data, I first want to copy the new data in a database in MySQL (which already contains the previous data). So

creating a matrix of ranked column data
I have a data frame (gom) or a matrix of trace metal data and some other observations from water column samples taken at sea (e.g., 19 samples (rows), 19 variables) I can calc. the rank individually from each column of the attached object. How can I create a matrix that contains the ranked data for each variable (either 1-19, ties=avg)? For example: >gom<-read.csv ("gomdata.csv")

[LLVMdev] Clang 3.5 Release Pre-Pre-Pre-Announcement
Bill, I have the openmp support in llvm 3.5svn now built on 10.7 using Xcode 4.6.3 and 10.8/10.9 using 5.1.1. The 10.7 build required the hack… perl -pi -e 's|list\(APPEND SANITIZER_COMMON_SUPPORTED_DARWIN_OS iossim\)||g' projects/compiler-rt/CMakeLists.txt to suppress building libclang_rt.asan_iossim_dynamic.dylib. The compiler-rt build now expects the iPhoneSimulator7.0.0.sdk but

things that break with unix extensions = yes, samba 4.1.5 and osx 10.9 clients?
I'm about to do some testing with a an OSX 10.9 client connected to sernet samba 4.1.5 to see what things work and don't both from the finder and from the terminal with unix extensions = yes and no. Does anyone know of any show stopping issues that occur with unix extensions = yes and the latest samba (or 3.6.x, or 4.0.x a) and the latest OSX (or latest update with 10.7 & 10.8)?

A question on modelling binary response data using factors
Dear all, A question on modelling proportional data in R. I have a test experiment that was designed in a particular way, and which I can analyse "by hand" to an extent. I am really struggling to get R to give me sensible results in modelling it "properly", so must be doing something wrong here. As background, I conduct a series of experiments and count the

Calculating & plotting a linear regression between two correlated variables
Hi, I have a Community (COM) composed of 6 species: A, B, C, D, E & F. The density of my Community is thus (Eq.1): dCOM = dA + dB + dC + dE + dF I would like to calculate and plot a linear regression between the density of each of my species and the density of the whole community (illustrating how the density of each species varies with variations of the whole community). For example, I would
