using transcan for imputation, categorical variable
Dear all, I am using transcan to impute missing values (single imputation). I have several dichotomous variables in my dataset, but when I try to impute the missings sometimes values are imputed that were originally not in the dataset. So, a variable with 2 values (severe weight loss or no/limited weight loss) for example coded 0 and 1, shows 3 different values after imputation (0, 1 and 2). I

odds ratios in multiway tables (stratified)
Hi, does anyone know of a function to calculate odds ratios in multiway tables (stratified) (+ the other usual statistics involved) i mean: say we have a table r*c*d, For every d (depth) we have a r*c table, and in this table the odds ratio's are calculated for every 2*2 subtable in it. logically this function would look like): ORs(multiwaytable) or ORs(data$var1r,data$var2c,data$var3d)

denominator degrees of freedom and F-values in nlme
Hello, I am struggling to understand how denominator degrees of freedom and subsequent significance testing based upon them works in nlme models. I have a data set of 736 measurements (weight), taken within 3 different age groups, on 497 individuals who fall into two morphological catagories (horn types). My model is: Y ~ weight + horn type / age group, random=~1|individual I am modeling

Just let whiners whine... Please?
There'll be whiners on all lists, and no list is ever going to be pleasing everybody... (And everyone should decide for themselves whether or not they belong to that group, as I will not be mentioning names! I'm sure there are those who'll think *I* am a whiner...) So at some point just let it be and continue the thread. Keeping on and on about it only increases noise to post

Evaluating AIC
R Users, I was just wondering if anyone has written a program (or if there is a package) out there that calculates the different derivations of AIC (e.g. AIC, AICc, QAIC, etc.) along with AIC differences (delta's), model likelihoods, Akaike weights and evidence ratio's (from Burnham and Anderson 2002). Just in a "for instance" if someone had the -2LL, sample sizes,

Queue_log stats
I'm in search of useful ACD type statistics from the queues. Ie talk time, ratio's, dropped calls etc. The flat file queue_log is nice, but more useful would be the data in Postgres or Mysql. Unfortunately the queue module does not yet support ODBC DB logging (yet). In the meantime this quick and dirty hack gets the job done. Replace the flat file with a unix named pipe.

Same certificate on multiple identical machines ?
Hi list, In our platform we have a lot of machines in which the system is a single disk image loaded on RAM from PXE. The problem is quite simple : if I install puppetd on the image, I will end up using the same certificate for 100 different servers with different names (the hostname is setup at boot time from dhcp) and I guess the puppetmaster won''t allow that. In other words : what

unbalanced one-way ANOVA
Hi, I have an unbalanced dataset on which I would like to perform a one-way anova test using R (aov). According to Wannacott and Wannacott (1990) p. 333, one-way anova with unbalanced data is possible with a few modifications in the anova-calculations. The modified anova calculations should take into account different sample sizes and a modified definition of the average. I was wondering if the

Sum Sq of SPSS and R different for repeated measures Anova
Dear all, I'm still learning and transitioning from SPSS to R (1.9.0, winXP) and today I have data from two repeated measures experiments. For each of the subjects I've averaged for two within-SS factors (2 x 2, 4 means per subjects). One experiment had 16 subjects, the other one 25 (between-SS factor exp). So I have something like: avg.cond <- read.table('data.txt') #
