Schemas and Migrations
Hello- I''m new to the ruby-based schemas and migrations. As I''m looking over examples and such online, I see that many of them don''t make use of schema-enforced attributes. For example, instead of: t.column "post_id", :integer, :default => 0, :null => false They do: t.column "post_id", :integer So I''m wondering -- is this

Simply Ruby question: "zerofill"
Hi there- What''s the easiest/most efficient way to perform a zerofill in Ruby? i.e. Given the value ''val'', I would like to do something like: val = 43 puts val.zerofill(8) ---> "00000043" gsub? sprintf of some sort? Jake -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Generating a long, unique "ticket" number.
Hello -- I would like to setup a system where a user can generate a "ticket". This ticket will be stored indefinitely. The ticket will be sent to someone who does not have an account on the system and therefore, I would like to ensure some level of security in that ticket number. Basically, the other user would receive an email like: --- Please click on the link below to view this

To query two SQL tables for user verification over LMTP, should I use (a) two separate lookups? or (b) just one lookup with a boolean query?
Hey all I've been running a Dovecot 1X server for awhile. Most of the config was pretty simple using flat files. I'm switching to Dovecot 2X now, and want to switch to using SQL for lookups so I can share info with the Postfix front end. For starters I setup two SIMPLE SQL tables -- a 'users' table and a 'aliases' table, where each user can have many aliases. I want to

Asterisk Realtime IAX - Adding fields for database table
Hello, Right now there is not a table build script at: http://www.voip-info.org/wiki-Asterisk+RealTime+IAX Therefore I have taken the SIP build script and added a few fields that I use from my iax.conf (could be more out there, please see the complete build script below): `dbsecret` varchar(100) default '', `notransfer` varchar(100) default '', `inkeys` varchar(100)

Database usage technique -- user-specified fields
Hello folks- In one particular app, it would be useful for the customers to be able to specify the significance (and presence) of fields. For example, consider a CONTACTs database. User 1 wants to have phone1, phone2, phone3, and User 2 wants to have 4 address fields. Generically, this could be done by having a CONTACT with, say, 10 strings, 10 integers, etc. The user''s account

PDF Shipping Order from Rails...BOUNTY
Hello Rails Community, I put this request out to the community a few weeks ago and got one reply and he ended up being too busy to do it. So, let me try again. I have a need to generate a shipping order from an application that is rails driven. All the data for the shipping order is contained within two tables. I feel like it it too cumbersome to map out all the coordinates for the

CDR_MYSQL 1.4 Database Structure
So I'm noticing from the docs/ on Asterisk Addons 1.4.10 that the database structure for cdr_mysql is: CREATE TABLE cdr ( calldate datetime NOT NULL default '0000-00-00 00:00:00', clid varchar(80) NOT NULL default '', src varchar(80) NOT NULL default '', dst varchar(80) NOT NULL default '', dcontext varchar(80) NOT NULL default '', channel

CDR_TDS tries to write to ends column instead of end
Hi all I'm trying to get Asterisk 1.8.11.0 to write to the ast_cdr table on an MSSQL instance. My problem is that the cdr_tds module insists on naming the end column as "ends" - it tries to write to this column, which does not exist. I get this in the CLI: [Dec 23 09:25:17] NOTICE[2545]: cdr_tds.c:476 tds_message_handler: Invalid column name 'ends'. [Dec 23 09:25:17]

NoMethodError in new scaffold
Hi All, I created a new rails application using rails 1.0. I used "ruby script\generate scaffold" for each of my tables. This worked on all but 2 of my tables. When I go to the new or edit action of my requests or admins table, I get the error below. On one table called admins I hadn''t followed the correct naming convention and wasn''t able to edit or create

Destructive behavior with link_to, button_to, :post=>true
Hello- I would like to know what the suggested practice is for having multiple submit buttons on a relatively complicated input page. Let''s use the example of a Contact. There is lots of info there, including name, address, phone number. There is also a list of "contact associations" which can be modified on the same page. Ideally, the user could have one

Encrypting source / application licensing
Hey folks- If I wanted to distribute my code to users that would run the code on their own machine, how could I go about encrypting the source to run on a user''s machine? PHP has the Zend Encoder among others, I believe. Is there anything similar for Ruby? Jake -- Posted via http://www.ruby-forum.com/.

Form not inserting data into database
I have a form to register a user. The issue I am having is the fact that it only populates login, hashed_password and created_at fields. DB table: create table users ( id int not null auto_increment, login varchar(100) default null, hashed_password char(40) default null, email varchar(255) default null, salt varchar(255) default

[LLVMdev] Calling Conventions Cont'd
Hi Jon, > What is the correct procedure for translating a function signature from > a high-order language to LLVM? you have to do it carefully so that LLVM will end up producing object code that conforms to the platform ABI. For example, suppose you are using cdecl with a small struct (a pair of ints, say). Then your function should get two integer parameters, which LLVM will assign to
