GLM with tweedie: NA for AIC
Dear R users;
I am modelling densities of some species of birds, so I have a problem with a great ammount of zeros.
I have decided to try GLMs with the tweedie family, but in all the models I have tried I got an NA for the AIC value.
Just to check the problem I've compared the a glm using the Gaussian family with the identity link and a glm using the tweedie family with var.power=0 and

DOE and interaction plot general question
This is a general question about Design of experiments. If i am not allowed
to post general questions like this here please accept my apologies and
ignore the question.
I did a DOE with six factors in eight runs. I know i cannot check for
interactions using this design, but i tried the interaction plot and it
showed me many interactions. After this I foldover the design and ran the 8
runs to learn

GLM dist Gamma-links identity and inverse
Dear users;
I am doing GLMs with the Gamma distribution, and I always get errors ("no valid set of coefficients: please supply starting values") or warnings ("NaNs produced in log(x)") when I use the links identity or inverse, but I don“t get them if I use the log link.
For example:

Structural Equation Models(SEM)
Hi R-colleagues.
In the sem-package
i have a problem to introduce hidden variables.
As a simple example I take an ordinary factor analysis.
The program:

Expert systems
Hi R-users
Is there any functions in R that can implement "expert systems"?
The aim of an expert system is to produce a probable diagnosis
for a patient with certain symptoms.
In the classical expert system a mumber of "experts" are asked to make
"statements" on the probabilities for different diseases when a
combination of systems would appear. One typical

Integrating R-programs into larger systems
Hi experts!
Have anybody experience in including an R-program
as part of a larger system? In Matlab there is a toolbox
that converts a m-script into C-code.
One application in mind is that I do the model building in R,
for estimating the risk for cancer based on clinical measurements.
When the model is ready, a small R-program can simulate
the model to estimate the risk for a new patient. The

Can't use attributes from gml file in Cytoscape
Hello,
I am exporting a graph in "gml" format from igraph 0.5.5. When I open the
file in Cytoscape v.2.7 I can't map the color attribute that I assign to the
graph when I export it from igraph. Could anyone help me in this?
Thanks.

3D accelleration and Intel 940/945GM/GMS/GML
Hi,
is there anyone here who succeed to run any 3D software at good speed
with such 3D hardware ?
On my side, 3D accelleration is ok with Xorg and pure linux game (xmoto
for example run really fine).
Is there anything to do with Wine to allow programs runs under it to
work as "native" Linux software ?
Have I miss something somewhere ? (I think of wine compilation and
