simulation-binomial
hello, i want to do a binomial simulation, by taking 200 var. from one group (x) and 300 from another (y). the prob. for disease=.6 in both groups. x <- rbinom(200, 1, .6) y <- rbinom(300, 1, .6) if the person is from group x - the probability to find the disease, assuming the person is sick, is .95, if he is from group Y its .80. i want to know the joint probability: p(the person has the

Trying to compile R 3.5.2 - 32 bit R - on Windows 10 64 bit - with ICU support
Hi, I am trying to compile R with ICU support. I am following https://cran.r-project.org/doc/manuals/R-admin.html#Building-from-source I have downloaded and extracted https://www.stats.ox.ac.uk/pub/Rtools/goodies/ICU_531.zip to W:\R-3.5._\App\R-Portable\ICU I have modified MkRules.local # set to use ICU USE_ICU = YES # path to parent of ICU headers ICU_PATH = w:/R-3.5._/App/R-Portable/ICU I

linear models and colinear variables...
Hi! I'm having some issues on both conceptual and technical levels for selecting the right combination of variables for this model I'm working on. The basic, all inclusive form looks like lm(mic ~ B * D * S * U * V * ICU) Where mic, U, V, and ICU are numeric values and B D and S are factors with about 16, 16 and 2 levels respectively. In short, there's a ton of actual explanatory

setting up W7 profiles
I am setting up W7 profiles following the "Samba & Windows Profiles" on the Sambawiki. If it matters, I have two functional DC's and one member server. When I run '# chmod 1770 /srv/samba/profiles' (on the member server) the permissions changed to: root at mbr01:~# ls -alh /srv/samba/profiles total 12K drwxrwx--T+ 2 root root 4.0K Mar 1 10:21 . drwxr-xr-t 5 root

BIDI (Hebrew) Support
Hello, I've looked for a BIDI HOW-TO, but did not find any. I use wine-0.9.5, and run IE using ies4linux. It works great including Hebrew showing Hebrew text correctly. The problem is that I could not write any Hebrew character... Whenever I type a character I get "?". So I've looked at wine-bidi issues, and found that I need to compile wine with icu library. I did! using

ICU
I've just been looking at ICU with an eye to reworking the unicode queryparser patch to use it. A few things have jumped out so far which make we wonder if it's the best option. I don't really know what the alternatives are though (currently QueryParser uses glib's unicode routines). The first is that there seems to be bad version skew. Ubuntu breezy (the latest release) has

setting up W7 profiles
Rowland, 'getent group DomainUsers' indeed returns nothing. Now, I know, you know this like the "back of your hand" but, am I wrong, are the permissions for **profiles** somewhat (not alot) different from permissions for file shares? Because I see that instructions (on the wiki) for file sharing reads differently. Thanks, again. --- ------------------------- Bob Wooden

reshape is re-ordering my variables
Is it an undocumented (at least I missed it if it's documented) feature of the reshape function to do numeric variables followed by character? I ask because that seems to be the case below. > str(rcw) 'data.frame': 23 obs. of 21 variables: $ ICU : int 1 18 17 9 22 19 6 16 25 26 ... $ Q6.RC.1 : chr "SM" "JF" "IW"

MD110 and analog trunks
Hello all, I was wondering if someone already wrote something to support a serial connection(ICU) on PABX's that's used for signaling. What I currently have is a connection between an Ericsson MD110 and * with analog trunks. Problem with this is, that all CallerID info is send over a serial link (ICU). Is there anyone who knows if there is support for this on * or to find the

setting a value of text_field from a controller

extracting characteristics of datasets from data()
I can use data() to find the available datasets in a package, but I'd like to extract and display some additional information for each dataset than what is provided by data(), e.g., class() and dim() for datasets for which these are available. I'm stuck on using using lapply properly with objects, rather than the names of objects that I get from data() Example: > DS <-

a repetition of simulation
Hello, I have a simple (?) simulation problem. I'm doing a simulation with logistic model and I want to reapet it 600 times. The simulation looks like this: z <- 0 x <- 0 y <- 0 aps <- 0 tiss <- 0 for (i in 1:500){ z[i] <- rbinom(1, 1, .6) x[i] <- rbinom(1, 1, .95) y[i] <- z[i]*x[i] if (y[i]==1) aps[i] <- rnorm(1,mean=13.4, sd=7.09) else aps[i] <-

Superscript and subscrib R for legend x-axis and y-axis and colour different subjects in longitudinal data with different colours
I am trying to make a x-axis and y-axis titles with both a special character and a subscript. I am not being able to do this. I think its just a placing of my parenthesis, but I've tried (seemingly) everything. Even more, when I try the blog users code it works. Is it because I?m using longitudinal data? Even more. Is it possible to colour each one of the 15 lines with a different
