getting names of dimnames of xtabs into xtable latex output
In R, the output of xtabs displays the names of the dimnames. In the
example below, these are "change_diet" and "mydiet". Is there a way to
have xtable incorporate these names directly into the latex output.
Thanks for your help.

Problem using xtable on an array
Hi all
I know about producing a minimal example to show my problem. But I'm
having trouble producing a minimal example that displays this
behaviour, so please bear with me to begin with.
Observe: I create an array called model.mat. Some details on this:
> str(model.mat)
num [1:18, 1:4] -0.170 -0.304 -2.617 2.025 -1.610 ...
- attr(*, "dimnames")=List of 2

abbreviate or wrap dimname labels
For a variety of displays (mosaicplots, barplots, ...)
one often wants to either abbreviate or wrap long labels,
particularly when these are made up of several words.
In general, it would be nice to have a function,
abbreviate.or.wrap <-
function(x, maxlength=10, maxlines=2, split=" ") {
}
that would take a character vector or a list of vectors, x,
and try to abbreviate or wrap

Sweave & xtable
I am just starting to learn Sweave (really neat tool). I am pretty
early in the learning curve (I had to think a moment ago whether a # or
% was the appropriate comment character).
I have successfully incorporated simple graphics and outputs, but am
having trouble getting a latex (xtable) table to function properly.
Latex is seemingly treating the xtable code as input or verbatim text.

Using package "exams" and xtable
Hello,
I am trying to use the package "exams" to construct problem sets.
I have constructed an exercise which generates a list of integers and asks
the student to compute the median.
rx is the vector of n numbers
>str(rx)
num [1:16] 21 9 8 18 4 12 17 2 9 7 ...
I want to print out the entire vector as part of the problem.
When I use \Sexpr(rx) only the first value (in this case

Questions about xtable and print.xtable
I have been using the wonderful xtable package lately, in combination
with Sweave, and I have a couple of general questions along with a
more particular one.
I'll start with the particular question. I basically have a 1x3 array
with column names but no row names. I want to create a latex table
with column setting set to "|rrr|". I want the column names to
appear, but the

Latex Table Help on R
Hello everyone,
Peter (see my earlier post) recommended the following script for finding the
means and standard deviations and putting them in table form.
However, I would like the standard deviations under the means in brackets.
Can anyone check this code to see how this can be adjusted?
library(xtable)
dataset1 = matrix( c(1,2,3,4, 5, 6 ), 2 , 3)
dataset2 = matrix( c(4,3,5,10, 1, 0), 2, 3)

xtable formatting: RED for negative numbers?
I've been experimenting recently with the fantastic Sweave/xtable
combination for generating latex. In the xtable vignette, I found this
great example of printing a ts object by months.
Is there a way to modify this code to generate RED numbers inside xtable for
negative results in x.ts?
Thanks in advance.

paste in xtable
Dear R help:
I am trying to use paste(), within an ifelse() statement to insert latex
commands into an object that has been created using xtable(). I cannot
make the strings behave as I would like, the '\t' is creating a tab, the
usual method of '\\t' is not working either - nor is any series of
backslashes. The xtable object, I think, automatically alters the
strings. How

xtable for plm objects
Hello,
I am trying to use Sweave to write up a report, and I have used the
plm package to do some panel models. I am trying to use xtable to make
a nice table for my regression objects (returned by the plm command),
but I am getting the error:

It seems like I would want to have xtable treat plm objects exactly
